1 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/08/2015

While driving I had slowed slightly down a hill and started to accelerate up hill, when I crested hill the gas pedal got stuck. I had 2 children in car. Got really scared. I quickly swiped my foot under pedal to knock anything blocking out of way, nothing there. I hit brakes, car kept going as it wasn't strong enough to hold it back. Threw car in neutral and the engine was screaming. As I rolled to side the pedal, with manipulation, became unstuck. This was a very scary incident, which could have ended badly. I researched on the net and saw many other complaints of this nature. Please do something. Consumers are being robbed of the 2nd biggest asset they spend their hard earned money on.

Failure Date: 12/13/2014

The accelerator jammed at full throttle as we were making a right turn. There was nothing depressing the accelerator, but the engine was racing at full speed. The light was red, so I was forced to used the brakes to keep from hitting the car stopped at the light in front of us. The brakes weren't going to hold the vehicle back for long, so I shifted into neutral and turned off the engine. When I turned it back on the accelerator was still stuck at full throttle. Only after turning it off a second time, completely removing the key from the ignition, waiting for all the lights on the control panel to dim, and restarting it did the accelerator return to normal. Chrysler insists that it was the floor mat depressing the accelerator, but there wasn't anything in the way of or jamming the pedal at all. It was free and clear. The vehicle smelled very hot and a red lightning bolt immediately flashed with and oil change due now indicator.

Failure Date: 11/24/2007

Going approximately 50 mph on a suburban highway when the accelerator seemingly stuck, rpms would not lower, resulting in great difficulty slowing down. Stopping the car was not possible. Braking would only slow the car somewhat, not stop the car. Was only able to stop the car after shifting into neutral and applying brakes. Even then rpms remained very high. Informed by the dealership that the problem was "probably" caused by another car service company cleaning the idle speed motor and damaging it. However, they are not 100% sure because once they were able to get the rpms to come down during the diagnostic workup, they could not reproduce the problem.
