1 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/07/2010

Left front drive axle shaft broke while driving slowly in destin florida while we were on vacation. If this had happened while I was driving 70 mph on the interstate I can imagine several tragic consequences. This van is gently driven, well-maintained, and gave no warning of failure before-hand.

2 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2000 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/06/2007

The vehicle started making a loud banging noise at idle when the ac was on. Numerous ongoing problems with ac since vehicle was new. Assumed the ac compressor was bad again, and did not use ac. Problem turned out to be a cracked drive plate (torque plate, flywheel). Vehicle became inoperative. Local Chrysler dealer stated known problem, recently fixed three with identical problem. $125. 00 part plus labor to remove transaxle and replace drive plate.

3 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2003 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/20/2007

The bracket the holds the carrying bearing on the drive shaft broke. This caused the drive shaft to hang down and almost touch the ground. As for the correction, I am still looking for a replacement part. There was a quick fix to the drive shaft bracket, but now there is a very loud rattle in the drive shaft.

4 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2002 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/01/2006

A knocking sound has appeared again in the front suspension. About 18 months ago, a similar symptom appeared. After repeated repairs (tie-rod ends, for example), the dealer finally discovered that the front left cv 1/2 axle was defective. Replacement cured the problem. Apparently the same problem now happening again. A knocking sound is apparent during low speed travel on a street with slight variations. This seems to be slow enough to hear it. There is also a knock when deliberately swinging the steering wheel from side to side. I will continue to pursue remedying this repeated problem with my 2002 town and country minivan.
