My traction sensor is not working which is causing my a safety issue. When I start driving (in motion), the abs traction starts even when there is no water, ice or poor driving conditions. The dealership replaced the abs module and its still doing it. They now say they will have to replace the sensor in the steering column (wheel). This is very scary as it stops my acceleration and it affects the anti-lock breaks. I was hoping this was all due to an minor auto collision but the insurance company told me there is absolutely no way this could have been caused because of it. They said its a coincidence and that it just happened on its own at the same time. I would say the fault is unknown.

There seems to be an issue with the clockspring mechanism in the steering column of the 2008 t&c vans. Mine went out and when the mechanic tried to get one from the local dealer he was told that it is backordered along with several hundred backordered. Obviously this is an issue that needs to be addressed as it affects many items.

2010 Chrysler Town & Country shuts off while driving. Transporting children. Bought used with 42,819 miles. Took to shop sept and oct from where purchased due to shutting off while driving. They could not find problem. Took to Chrysler dealer December 2014 and again March 2015 - again, can't find problem. Dangerous. Have to quickly pull off road - it shuts off, steering column freezes. Called Chrysler for help, want more money to check car again. No guarantee they can fix. Recall for ignition problem on cars of this series ran from August 3, 2009 to June 17, 2010. This vehicle was manufactured June 30, 2010. I'm just amazed the issue has not been fixed. Family is at risk in the vehicle not to mention and other cars and or pedestrians nearby when it shuts off. Something needs to be done. I'm expected to drive it to the dealership again. They should really pay for the tow as it's not a safe vehicle to drive.
While driving the van stopped working, instrument panel lit up, ac and radio turned off, steering locked and brakes did not work. Contacted local dealership they were unable to diagnose after 2 days. Took it home and same thing happened on 7/11/14. Brought to non-dealership mechanic who is looking into steering column/electrical problem but still nothing after 3 days. I have an extended warranty on vehicle so plan to submit expenses to Chrysler.

2003 Chrysler town and country. Consumer states steering up/down control mechanism stopped functioning
the consumer stated when he removed the fairing cover at the back of the steering column, the one-piece slide assembly showed a breaking point. When the control pin reached the grooved area of the toothed assembly, it caused the upper section to spring up, allowing up and down adjustment. When the desired up/down adjustment was reached, the control lever was released, allowing the slide assembly to move back out of the groove where the upper arms engaged the teeth on the lower toothed assembly to the desired position. Due to the controlled pin rotation/migration to the right, possibly caused by lack of lubricant, when the pin became disengaged from the left side of the assembly and when the control lever was engaged to adjust up/down, the control assembly became inoperative and the left side of the slide assembly broke. Now when the control lever is pulled, the broken left side of the slide assembly moves back freely without engaging the toothed assembly. The lubricant that was applied at initial assembly is now dried at critical points, the control arm, pivot point and the grooved slide area between the control pin and the upper section of the toothed assembly.

2005 Chrysler town and country Mini van having to have steering column replaced on it after recent purchase dealer will not fix knowing the problem exist. Fraudulently sold the car knowing the problem and not disclosing it to me. Started after one month after purchase and key was stuck in ignition. Seems to be a common and very highly complained about problem. I traded a perfectly working not one thing wrong car for this one that the dealer made a huge profit on and fraudulently lied about any problems with this. Replacement is stated at 1300 dollars after one month of ownership. Chrysler should fix this known defect and the dealer should be investigated for fraud.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the steering column made a loud whining sound. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the problem was common but there was no remedy for it. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
I made a u turn and the steering column locked which could have caused the vehicle to crash resulting in injury or death. I heard a loud pop while forcing the steering wheel back to the normal driving position. I stopped the vehicle and noticed the brake lights were on. I was unable to get them to turn off, so I took the vehicle to a Chrysler/Jeep dealership since it is still under warranty. They said that the aftermarket brake control wiring harness was routed too close to the steering column. The knuckle on the steering column pulled on the wiring harness which pulled on brake light switch and broke switch loose from it's mount. This inturn activated the steering wheel interlock system. The dealer said repairs could not be done under warranty and any repairs were at my expense. I authorized them to replace the brake light and interlock system switch. They also said the whole steering column needed to be replaced if I wanted the steering wheel to lock after turning off the key. I don't know if a few small wires actually caused the problem. Even if the wiring caused the problem, it seems like a real design flaw for a brake light switch coming loose from it's mount to cause the interlock system to lock the steering wheel while the vehicle is in motion.
Clockspring in the steering wheel replaced as it's was a real safety issue due to the possible airbag deployment.

Up to 1999 model Town & Country, by chrystler, we under recall for a part in the steering column. My vehicle was produced in 1999, but was the 2000 model. Recently, I had to have the same part replaced in my vehicle that was under the recall from chrystler, but it is not covered. I feel that the same part should be covered regardless of the model year.

When turning the steering wheel consumer heard a popping noise coming from the steering column. Consumer took vehicle into the dealership for inspection. However, the problem recurred.
When attempting to turn the car, there is a clunking noise and then the steering wheel comes lose. It does not physically detach from the steering column, but it rocks freely back and forth. Attempting to turn the steering wheel after this causes a grinding sound and is unstable due to the rocking motion. The failure occurred on March 6, and a Chrysler dealer serviced the car on March 7 using TSB 19-008-01 as a service procedure. The exact same failure occurred the next day, after servicing. A different Chrysler dealer serviced it using TSB 19-008-01 which involves inserting a shim. Two different dealerships recommended replacing the steering column and Chrysler would not authorize it.
