The vehicle randomly loses all power, which means no power steering and no brakes. It happens randomly and after searching online it appears others have the same issue faced back to the wireless ignition node being faulty. However the previous recall doesn't cover the vehicle I have which is experiencing the exact same symptoms. My wife has already had a close call as she is unable to steer the vehicle without power steering and the brakes don't work at all.

The win module in the listed vehicle has failed and is being replaced. This is the same type of win module that was contained in a recall for 2008-2010 models and should be updated to include the models beyond 2010. The problem has been random for a couple of years, but recently we have had constant issues with the vehicle shutting off while driving, leaving no power for steering or braking. The entire vehicle shuts off randomly, including while driving and is dangerous for anyone who owns this model vehicle. I am surprised and disappointed that newer models (same base design) are experiencing the same issue and nothing has been done. The following websites address the issue with model years similar to mine. . Read more...

We have had multiple times when we are driving, and our vehicle shuts off and we lose power steering and power brakes. When the van does come to a stop, we are able to restart it and continue on. There is no warning that the van is going to shut off, it just does it. This is our family vehicle. I have found multiple forms online with customers complaining of the same issue with no positive results from the dealerships.
While taking turns or going over bumps/ potholes the vehicle will turn off and need to be restarted. All systems shut down including power steering, dash, and engine. The driver and occupants are put in life threatening danger due to the total shutdown of the vehicle and all of its accessories. The vehicle has not been taken to a dealer or service center but instead a independent auto mechanic. Through their research they found there was similar recalls on mopar vehicles on earlier year models. The vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
While driving today the vehicle stopped shifting and the check engine light turned on. When I pressed the gas pedal the rpm gauge would go to 4 or 5 but the vehicle wouldn’t move initially. It jolted forward after a few seconds of pressing the gas. Because I had my children in the vehicle, I slowly drove to the garage I see regularly. They checked the code and with that revealed it was something to do with the transmission fluid pressure and the power steering pump.

While driving at 70 mph on the highway on 8/13/23, the car electrical system failed. Power steering immediately failed. Brakes unresponsive. Lost control and almost veering into a semi beside us. Coasted and lane changed with no means to signal to others. Once we coasted to a near stop car was put into park without ability to press on break. After 3 min, attempted to start car again and it was responsive again.
Power steering failure and water pump failure smoking under hood and power steering fluid all on the exhaust system almost caught fire.

The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. Additionally, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving uphill on a very narrow street. The contact was able to shift the vehicle into park, while using both feet to depress the brake pedal. The vehicle was stopped, and the contact turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that her four-year-old granddaughter was a passenger in the vehicle and the situation was very scary. The contact waited for several minutes, before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times and the vehicle had been taken to an independent mechanic several times; however, the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
In two separate incidents on 5/4/23 and 5/5/23, while driving, the vehicle has stalled without warning. The engine completely shut off. Power steering and breaks stopped functioning properly making it very difficult to pullover and stop. Once pulled over, had to place the vehicle in park, completely turn off the electrical and restart the vehicle. No warning lamps or messages appeared before or after the incident. The vehicle has been displaying some issues starting recently, especially when using the push button. However, we have always been able to get it to start by inserting the key. This is an incredibly dangerous situation for the driver and any occupants as it has happened without warning while driving on highways which could very easily result in an accident if unable to pullover safely or stop if the breaks are not working. The vehicle has not yet been inspected, but we plan to get it inspected as soon as possible.
My steering went completely out. I took it in to the dealership and they replace the power steering pump, said that was not it and replaced the rack. I got it back, and the pump was loud, was clicking when turning, and steering was still moderately unresponsive. They said they would order another power steering pump and go from there. They replaced the pump after several months, and said they drove it with no issues. It is still unresponsive, and will occasionally jerk in one direction when trying to go straight. I am afraid me or someone else will get hurt in an accident with it one day. I just reached out to another dealer as well as Chrysler to see what my options are. It happens at any speed and is constant.
The engine died while traveling 80mph and power steering stopped. Engine died at a stop light in traffic. No lights display on dashboard and no codes display. Car runs fine after turning off then restarting. This is dangerous and appears common in town and countries. We could have died at 80mph.
Engine completely shut off while in drive on the road, lost all power, brakes everything. Managed to coast into to a parking lot, where the vehicle kept turning on and off. The key didn't seem to connect to the van. The van died as soon as I coasted it off the road. Everything is electronic in the van. Even taking inserting the key fob into the van did not work. Van has around 93000 miles on it. Had problems where the van would not start at all before then got it to start eventually. It was like the ignition was not reading the key. First time it happened driving on the road. Newer vehicle battery and batteries in the key fob. Help. Is there a recall on this van?.
Vehicle has stalled numerous times while operating at high rates of speed 60+ mph in most cases. No prior warning or indication of stalling until vehicle no longer accelerates and then seconds later loses power steering. Usually I can get to the side of the road and pull out of traffic. However last night was not the case. I stalled in a construction zone, with concrete barriers on both sides. I pulled over as far as I could and was nearly hit multiple times by semis and other vehicles. I had my 4 children in the car with me and they are traumatized now. They were bawling because they thought they were going to get hit. We had a sheriff call for a tow truck which was not free. We were left stranded in the dark, in the cold, for an hour just this incident. It once was an issue that only happened occasionally. It happened 6 times this past week while I was out of state for holidays. This is my only means of transportation and having a newborn I have to be able to get around safely. I will state again no warning prior, and no engine light after to diagnose the issue. Myself and my 4 children could have lost our lives last night. The officers who stopped could have lost their lives the passerby could have lost their lives. This vehicle is a death trap. They need to recall all of them to locate the real problem before tragedy strikes. I wouldn’t even give this vehicle away that’s how unsafe it is.
Van engine dies while driving. Has happened four times at high rate of speed— once on the expressway going 65 mph. Dash lights come on when driving and engine dies. Power steering and brakes go out. No codes. I coast to a stop on side of road. When trying to restart, van will have power, but will not turn over. After about 45-60 minutes, starts and runs normally. Could not replicate problem at auto repair shop. Had it towed first time. Three times since it restarted after sitting an hour. Almost was rear-ended on expressway overpass the last time it died. Children were in the car. Also died in the rain at dusk on county highway. Unsafe location. No warning prior to the failure. Also happened to another driver. First event may 2022. Again June 2022. Again July 2022. Again September 2022.
My town and country will shut off while driving, this is very concerning to me I have 4 children with me at all times. I can be going 10 miles down the road and it will shut off atleast 5 times. I live in the mountains so getting it out of the road is an challenge at most times. The other day I was going thru a green light and it shut off. Luckily it had just enough roll to get it out of the intersection and kinda off the interstate. It just does it no warning at all shuts off I loose breaks steering everything! it is very dangerous!!!.
The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that on numerous occasions while driving at various speeds, the power steering failed. As a result, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver then the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 275,000.

I was leaving my place of residence and was navigating a 90 degree left hand turn while in drive at approximately 10mph. As I began to attempt to straighten the wheel and accelerate out of the turn I realized I had no steering and the car wouldn't accelerate. The engine had stalled and the steering wheel was locked while turned to the left. No warning lights or messages were present even after I started the vehicle back up. I feel incredibly lucky this happened at a low rate of speed instead of at highway speed. It has never done anything like this before and we cannot figure out what caused the engine to stall or why there was no steering when it happened.

At random times, the ignition will shut down while driving, causing the power steering and power brakes to lose function. The only way to correct this is to shift gear into neutral and restart the engine. This has occurred while driving in town and on the highway without any warning or warning lights on the dashboard. This could result in a crash and harm to passengers due to not having control over steering and brakes while the vehicle is in motion. This problem has occurred multiple times in the past year or so. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who ran a diagnostic, but was unable to identify the issue and it would not replicate. I researched the vehicle symptoms, and found a recall from 2015 that related to the same issues (TSB# r03, win modual fobik replacement). All additional keys and keychain/fob were removed from the ignition key to see if this would help. Since the issue was still happening, it was then taken to a chrystler dealership, where again the diagnostics did not reveal the issue and they were unable to replicate the problem. Multiple attempts made to discuss this issue with chrystler without any assistance in finding a solution thus far. This vehicle is normally driven daily as a family car and regularly transports children. This is a huge safety concern and issue that needs to be addressed and fixed, as the vehicle is unsafe to drive at this point and the potential liability is great.

2012 Chrysler town&country my 2012 town and country has randomly stopped on me three times in April and may of 2022. The car shuts off completely for no apparent reason. The car will not start again until put into park. This was unsafe because I had no control of the car until it rolled to a stop. Fortunately, each time the hazard lights responded and cars behind me went around. The very scary part was not knowing if I would run into the car ahead of me as neither brakes nor steering worked. I took it to my dealership and told them the problem. They said they discovered there was faulty wiring and repaired it at the cost of just nearly $700. I picked up the car. I drove it for under an hour and it stopped in the middle of a busy street. I took the car back to the dealership. They kept it for two weeks and finally said they made it do the event again. They then proceeded to try to diagnose it. After a week or so they called to say they thought they had diagnosed the problem. However they could not get the part that they thought needed to be replaced. None seemed to be available. The dealership then called to say that they had found two parts but only one was available. I was informed that they weren’t sure they could get the part at all. (the cost for parts and labor will be $1000. ) my car has now been in the dealership for almost a month. They tell me that they have no idea when the car will be fixed. I was also informed that even if they put this part in the car they cannot guarantee me the car will be safe to drive. I will not have any confidence in this car again. I will find it a financial hardship to purchase a new car right now. This however is the only choice open to me now in order to feel safe in a car again. 2022,dlr.
For the past several years we have tried to get power to examine the conditio. To no avail. Several times a week when we are driving the car will shut off and we lose power steering, the van turns off and we have to switch it into park to continue. Some day it happens several times. It seems like it is an occurance happening in other cars. ( see NHTSA campaign id:?14v373000. & 11v139000 ). I am worried bc it has almost led to several wrecks:. . It effects electrical. The ignition. Power steering and more. Also the air conditioner/ coolest has stopped working. We have to have tried multiple solutions with no avail… please help! and let me know if I can help with anything!.
After transmission failure 6 months ago problems with steering vehicle, finally system locked up and unable to make a left turn.
My wife had just gotten on the interstate and had accelerated to ~75 mph. Then without warning, the steering system locked up making it hard to navigate. Both the gas pedal and breaking system went off line as well. Luckily, there wasn't any vehicles in the immediate vicinity. She was able to allow the vehicle to coast to a stop as she wrestled with the steering wheel to try and get the vehicle to the side of the road. As the vehicle was slowing down (to around 25 mph), the speedometer indicated that she was at 100+ mph. This could have been devastating in most situation. Just prior to getting on the interstate, she was on a one lane road with 18-wheelers passing by her head-on. What if this was to occur if she was approach a cross walk with pedestrians crossing, or other vehicles (to include motorcycles), she would not have been able to stop. When she finally made it over to the side and the vehicle had stopped. She turned the vehicle off and everything was fine again, like nothing ever happened. This is our first and hopefully last occurrence. But looking online, this is nowhere near being close to the first occurrence of this type. . Read more...
Esp bas light on dash.
While driving the whole car stopped working, everything just died. Power steering, gas, power brakes, everything. I was able to, thankfully, get to the side of the highway, and put the car into park. I gave the car a few minutes, then it started back up again. This is not the first time this has happened, just the first time on a highway. I've taken my van to a dealership before and they can't "reproduce" the problem so they don't fix anything. Meanwhile, my life and the life of my family are in danger because I don't know if my van is going to shut down while I'm driving. There was no warning it was going to happen, the steering just goes out and you have no power.
Going about 30 mph with no warning, the traction control light came on it beeped and the car stalled the power steering died as did the brakes. I tried to stop the car and the abs kicked in but not fully. I was able to yank the steering wheel enough to round a corner avoid another vehicle and get to a safe place to stop. I restarted the car and it was as if nothing occurred. I believe there is a serious flaw in the computer system and an upgrade is needed!!! I used and obd ii reader and there were no codes that came up. The car only has 89,000 miles on it. This is a serious safety concern. If I had stalled on a highway on a curve, with no real way to stop it or steer it in time with out serious struggle, the outcome could have endangered not only myself and those in my car but other motorists!! looking online I’m terrified to even drive this vehicle… apparently this is happening a lot with this model. (how!!!???) someone really needs to look at this problem!.
Our van just stops running when driving. This causes the power steering and brakes to stop working, no warning at all anything is happening. This has happened several times in the last three days. I coasted to side of road once. I almost rear-ended and was almost rear-ended in same incident today due to sudden shut off. I fear for my life and family safety. I have a son who travels in a wheelchair in the vehicle and our only transportation. My son cannot go to school now as he has no transportation to get there since this is his wheelchair van. He cannot ride in a regular vehicle, he must ride in his powerchair due to mobility and specialized seating. Two weeks ago, vehicle acted like we didn't have traction and wheels locked up. That has happened several times. Then two days before the stop running started the traction control light came on but it was perfectly normal driving situations. Light turned off after car was turned off and hasn't come back on. No warning lights or other alerts have come on in van. Very costly, tipm system was replaced November 2020 due to issues with vehicle power issues on not starting fully and loosing power.
Car stalls while driving. Looses brakes and steering. Mechanics can not determine cause. No codes stored. Almost caused a collision happened 4 times in a month.
Engine stops while driving. Has happened multiple times and is extremely dangerous. Have been told it is a bad tipm which was recalled on other models, but not mine????.
On August 13, 2021, while driving at about 60 miles per hour, the vehicle lost power and power steering. Air conditioning continued to work. I was able to coast, move over to the right lane, place the transmission into neutral and restart the engine. I then placed the transmission back into drive, increased my speed and resumed my trip. This occurred previously on August 15, 2017, resulting in complaint number 11047478 being filed with your department.
The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that there was a hole where the emblem was located on the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 20v396000 (air bag, steering) however, the emblem was removed but not replaced. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 190,000.
On occasion at least four different times in the past two months, my vehicle has completely shut off while I am driving it. In an instant, a warning comes on my dash that has a lightening bolt, the engine and all electrical/power shuts off, the wheel locks, and I am only able to brake. I have taken it to the dealership where they charged me $100 to find what the issue was, even though unsuccessful. They said because the vehicle showed no codes, they didn’t know the reason for the malfunction, and sent me home. I called Chrysler recall and they said because there are no open recalls, they are unable to help me. When searching online, I see a lot of people have had this exact same issue but no one helps them fix it. Lawsuits have emerged. Accidents have happened. I have three small children who rely on me and my vehicle. It is completely unsafe for us to drive and for others around us on the road. No one will help diagnose or fix the problem. I need help fast! please help me.
I was driving about 30 mph when I couldn’t accelerate or brake. The power steering also went out. I saw the traction light on. As I tried to move to the shoulder, I almost got hit. I turned the van off and then restarted it. When it started back up, no lights were on. This has done this to me every time I’ve driven it in the past 2 weeks. It is a big safety issue. I’m scared to drive it. I just recently had the fuel injector and spark plugs replaced. This did not fix the issue.
The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the window glass fell into the door abruptly. A mechanic inspected the vehicle and determined that the failure occurred due to an internal door fracture. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated while driving and turning the steering wheel, the steering wheel made an abnormally loud squealing sound. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had difficulty starting, and there was an abnormal amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The check engine warning light and the electronic throttle control warning light were illuminated. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 174,098.
