Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler town and country. While driving 70 mph, the transmission disengaged and the engine revved. The contact released the accelerator pedal and downshifted to a lower gear, which caused the transmission to return to normal. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall; however, other vehicles were also experiencing transmission failures. The manufacturer was unable to assist. The vehicle was taken to wells motor company (1600 us hwy 27 s, avon park, FL 33825, (863) 453-6644) and diagnosed more than two days, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Loud whine coming from engine area. Transmission problem, front oil pump failed. My vehicle was not listed in the recall but has same problem as recalled t&c minivans. I would step on gas pedal and the rpm's would go up but my car would not engage and accelerate. Eventually the van died would not moe and had to be towed to dealership.
When braking rather hard to slow/stop quickly, transmission hesitates to downshift so when starting to accelerate again, engine revs up but transmission does not engage. Then it will engage suddenly with a hard jerk which can be dangerous. Also, when braking hard to slow quickly and because the transmission does not disengage as it should, the engine sometime kills when I have slowed. In an instance when that happened, I was making a turn and, of course, lost power steering so barely avoided hitting a vehicle waiting on the street into which I was turning since steering was very heavy to accomplish. Brought this up to a technician who said, "yes those vehicles are known for their transmissions failure to disengage and occasional slippage on starting and then suddenly engaging with a very hard jerk".

Dash lights flickering, gauges jumping. Headlights turned off during driving at night. Transmission shortly disengaged. Dangerous situation! Chrysler can not find the problem. Nhtsa case ea11010 is open. Need urgent support.
There were no events leading up to this problem. Car was taken regularly for oil changes and required manufacturer maintenance at the dealership. Car was being driven and while pulling across highway it just does not go. The car continued to run but the transmission would not engage and pull the vehicle. According to the dealership, the pump probably went out and caused the damage to the transmission. Thus, the entire transmission is being replaced. This is a 3 year old vehicle and has 80,000 miles. There were no warning lights nor any observable signs that the vehicle was in any distress. Maybe a factory defect but extremely dangerous.
I purchased the vehicle on July 14, 2005. When the weather turned colder, I would back the vehicle out of my driveway and it would fail to engage into drive for 25 to 30 seconds. At times it would also fail to engage after making a full stop. I believed this to be a dangerous problem. When I took it to the dealer, I was told they were using a "new and improved fluid". There was nothing they could do to remedy the situation. The service manager told me it happens on his new car also. If what he says is true I can't believe there aren't many thousands of complaints. What can I do about this dangerous situation? I used a November date as the incident date, but it happens many times.

Almost everytime when driving the van at around 40 mph, engine speed around 2000 to 3000 rpm, and suddenly reducing the speed due to traffic condition, the transmission became disengaged and could not engage again if I pressed the gas paddle and wanted to resume the speed. Released the gas paddle completely then re-pressed it would not help. So the van eventually would come to a stop in the middle of the road, or go backward if it is up-hill. Only if I pressed the gas paddle very hard and made the engine free-running reach 4000 rpm, the transmittion could suddenly engage again, which caused a very rough acceleration. This problem became more and more server and frequent within a month (now almost every time I slow down then accelate, and it also happens at very low speed). I think this is very dangerous and I will bring the van to a dealer as soon as possible. I wonder if this problem could be treated as safety defect. Thank you very much.
