1 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/28/2020

At 115,000 miles, the automatic transmission on my 2015 Chrysler town and country touring failed. It started with a shudder, and then high pitched whining, and then it slipped out of gear. It happened very fast, and without warning. We were on city roads, driving slow and stopping at intersections. Had to have it towed to a Chrysler dealer. Dealer says the transmission needs to be replaced. They are insisting on replacing the ac condenser as well, otherwise they claim Chrysler won't honor the new transmission warranty (apparently the transmission lines run through the ac condenser). Two other identical minivans are at that same dealer for identical repairs. Mine had the most mileage at 115,000. The two others had fewer miles. All need a complete transmission replacement. $4400.

5 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/02/2016

The transmission has a shifting issue which may cause a serious accident when turning into traffic. It can happen when stopped at light or off side streets when accelerating into turn. It feels like transmission slips out of gear and then slams into gear but I am afraid that it will malfunction and I will not have any way to get out of traffic in time. This issue happens both stationary and in motion and on city streets.

6 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 09/24/2011

While camping with the van off and the keys out of the vehicle. Horn started honking. Windshield wipers started going. Washer fluid started to spray. Hazards started to flash. Started and shut off the van to no avail of stopping all the commotion. Finally unhooked the battery to make it stop. Took it to the dealer 2 days later and they found nothing wrong. One week later while my wife was driving the van. All of the devices again turned on for no reason. She pulled over and shut off the vehicle. After 5 minutes it finally stopped. When she started driving it again and when she started to drive it would not shift out of 3 gear. She pulled over and shut it off. Started it up again and it worked fine. 3 days later my wife and kids took it and all the devices turned on again out in the parking lot with the van off and keys out of it. When she started the van it would only run for like 20 seconds and then quit running. Tried it numerous time to no avail. She wait 30 minutes while I was driving to pick them up. She started it again and it work fine. It still acts up about ever 2 to 3 days. Dealership says it cant fix the problem cause it cant find anything wrong and cant reproduce the problem.

While driving a new 2006 town and country, the vehicle would not shift out of 2nd gear. Initially, pulling over, shutting the car off, and restarting the car would resolve the issue. However, after this shut-off procedure the car would downshift very rough (with an audible banging noise). Vehicle was brought to the dealership where it was purchased within 24 hours of the first symptom. The check engine light did illuminate. Dealership has had the car for 4 days at this point without even having diagnosed the problem. We are driving a rental vehicle as a substitute.
