Turn Signal Problems of Chrysler Town & Country

Problem begins with random ding, all dashboard lights come on, speedometer/fuel gauge/tachometer do not function at all, turn signals & hazards don't work, wipers turn on by themselves for a few swipes and then go back off. This lasts a few seconds and goes back to normal. Reoccurs randomly, lasting from 10 seconds to a full day of driving. It doesn't matter if the van is moving or still, just started or been running- it happens very randomly. Yesterday, I started the van and all dash lights were lit, no gauges worked, and turn signals & hazards did not work for several hours. Today I started it and after driving about 5 minutes, fixed itself and went back to normal.

While in motion on a city street, my instrument cluster panel lit up, windshield wipers turned on and couldn't be turned off, turn signals stopped working, as well as the speedometer, odometer, temperature gadge, radio, and heating/cooling system. The vehicle still drives, but is not safe to be on the road due to no speedometer and turn signals. Also, my driver side window was rolled down and is now stuck in the downward position.

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the low beam headlights and turn signals stopped working and the horn continuously sounded. The contact had to remove the fuse in order to stop the horn failure. The manufacturer acknowledged the failure with the lights; however, they could not assist with the repair cost since there was no recall. The dealer (courtesy motor sales inc, 3100 pleasant valley blvd, altoona, PA 16602, (814) 942-9000) offered to schedule an appointment with an upfront fee for diagnostic testing. Radio, gauges, turn signals, and ac randomly stop working. Wipers turn on at the same time. Some times for seconds, sometimes for hours. There does not seem to be a trigger as it has happened while driving on the highway, back roads and even stopped in the driveway. No way to reset the car once it is in dead radio/ac/gauges mode, it will only reset itself, again randomly. I tried pulling the battery cable and waiting, then re-attaching to no avail.

Faulty tipm identified after several years of problems. Most serious problem occurred when the vehicle stalled on the freeway during rush hour traffic. Vehicle speed dropped immediately, with no warning, from 70 mph to 25 mph. Vehicle would not shift, and speed would not increase. Power steering went out, and it was very difficult to maneuver the vehicle across four lanes of heavy traffic (with my children inside) and coast to a safe location where a tow truck was called, and vehicle was taken to dealership for repair. This was the most serious of several problems- all of which appear to point to a faulty tipm. Other problems include faulty turn signals, windows that will not open, rear fan that turns on and off by itself, difficulty shifting, difficulty starting, and drained batteries. Repairs and replacements include solenoid pack replacement, transmission overhaul, battery replacement, power module replacement, blower motor replacement- finally leading to tipm replacement.

I took my car in for a recall on an ignition win module recall. The car was given back to me with several electrical issues and is now very unsafe to drive. Dealer replaced the part 4x now says its my issue!! my car was working properly when it was given to the dealer and was not returned to me in the same condition. The dealer experienced and witnessed this issue and says they cant find anything wrong with it. The only way they will help me is if I pay. My car will randomly light up the dash like I just turned it on, wipers go on by themselves, I have no dials on the dash they all bottom out to zero so I have no idea how fast im going, my turn signals and head lights go on and off, even in the dark! my car doesnt register in park so my doors wont open. After I take the key out it will light up as if key is in it and its not. On 10/13/2014, highway driving, used turn signal to pass another vehicle, when returning to original lane and turning off turn signal, the turn signal started blinking the opposite way, thinking I had missed the neutral position tried again, started blinking the opposite way. This went on for at least 2 minutes then finally stopped. On 10/28/2014, started vehicle in driveway and all dash indicator lights came on along with windshield wipers, the radio display was blank like it was off, but there was sound (radio display has been ongoing issue since we purchased vehicle in 2012). Turned vehicle off and tried to restart with same issue. Turned off and let sit for several minutes and condition went away. Next incident was on 10/31/2014. Was idling in a parking spot and the windshield wipers turned on along with the security light in the dash. This stopped within 30 seconds. Then while driving about 15 minutes later about 25mph, all dash indicator lights came on along with windshield wipers and lights inside of the van. Pulled over to side of road and turned off vehicle for a few minutes and restarted with no issues.

While driving through my subdivision, I attempted to turn on the high beams for better visibility. At this instance, the wiper blades turned on and would not turn off. At the same moment, the vehicle lost the high beams, turn signals and windshield solution motor activation. The vehicle remained operational and no one was injured. I had to replace the turn signal, high beam and windshield wiper selector lever.

Driving down the road wipers turn on by themselves will not turn off, high beams will not work also turn signals will not work.

The head lights go out intermittently or won't come on at all. The turn signals will not work as well as the horn. Sometimes everything works and sometimes it doesn't. This is extremely dangerous while driving at night and almost caused an accident as the head lights went out while driving. I did some research online and this is a problem that many Chrysler town and country owners have reported. The issue is believed to be the tipm.

Turn signal lamp on both mirrors defective. Cover comes off exposing the electrical board with the lights. Both sides not functioning. This appears to be a common issue on the internet. We have a Chrysler maximum care plan which it the best warranty Chrysler offers but this part is not covered. This item is for added safety but not functioning and I'm concerned exposed electrical boards to the weather could cause a short or fire.

When turning on the right turn signal to make a turn our 2007 Chrysler Town & Country with 20,00 miles but out of warranty because it is 38 months in service, the left turn indicator flasher on as you start the turn , which has caused a near miss as other drivers do not know if its a right turn or left turn this is a safety issue and Chrysler should be forced to recall all 2006 2007 Chrysler to replaced the defective components to correct this problem.

Turn signal doesn't work, or else it will blink the opposite side than what is turned on.

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler town and country. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact engaged the left turn signal indicator yet, the turn signal would not function. On several occasions, when engaging either the left or right turn signal selector, the opposite signal would activate and not the selected one. The failure was intermittent when driving various speeds. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and diagnosed twice. Intermittent failure of turn signals, sometimes when turn to left indicator blinks to right.

Internal and external turn signals intermittently blink the opposite of what is expected. When turning on the left signal the signals occasionally blink right and visa versa. This malfunction may occur two or three times in a row and then it will work correctly for a day or week or more. It is unpredictable. This can be very dangerous as trailing or oncoming drivers respond to the incorrect signals. The local Chrysler service people are not able to work on this problem if it isn't occurring when they work on the vehicle.

Turn signal will flash either right or left, and actually changes to right when turning left, and left when turning right. I have had two very near mishaps due to the person behind me not knowing which way I am turning. I took the 2006 chrysker town and country van for repairs, and they knew what was bad, but did not have the part(s) avaliable. I am still driving this very unsafe vechicle, waiting for them to get the part(s).

Turn signals malfunctioned. When turning on left turn signal, right turn signal would come on instead. Took vehicle to dealership and weren't able to find the problem.

The steering wheel locked and would not turn in either direction which caused the vehicle to crash into a ditch. The consumer stated a piece of the directional signal broke off and jammed the steering column.
