I purchased a pair of rain-x 28 latitude wipers for a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country minivan in November of 2008 from walmart at the cost of $18. 97 each. I had been pleased with their performance. On the 8th of July when I turned the window wipers on during a severe rainstorm, the passenger side wiper flew off. The preinstalled connector came out and I could not find it. I stopped at the walmart store where it was purchased in east tawas, michigan to see if there was either a guarantee or some way I could get another connector. I was told by the auto dept. Manager on duty that there was no guarantee and that the wiper should be replaced every 6 months anyway and there was no way to get another connector. The Town & Country is a 2nd vehicle and little used. It had less than 3000 miles on it since November when the blades were replaced. It is always garaged. There is no sign of wear on the driver?s side blade and both blades wiped clean until this incident. I had to purchase a new blade, but would like to know how a blade that is advertised for winter, spring/fall, and summer has to be replaced every 6 months when not worn. I realize that the durability and longevity is dependent upon usage, but this seems a little extreme to me. I have never replaced blades that often and have never paid that much for blades before so I expect these blades to last longer and from the condition of the driver?s side blade it looks like they will. It is not my fault that the preinstalled connector fell out. I do not know whether it broke or not however, I view this as a serious safety hazard. If this had happened to the drivers side wiper, it could have caused an accident.

We rented a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country (it may have been a Dodge garnd caravan, but they are the same) from dollar rent a car in austin TX. We were driving down I-35 about 20 miles north of austin, southbound. It was raining moderately and we drove in some standing water in the left lane. The water was thrown from the front wheels onto the windshield and front side windows! we were driving totally blind for about 5 seconds until I pulled over to the middle lane out of the water. This water was not thrown up by a truck or other vehicle. The standing water was not deep enough to have been a problem in most cars. I have been driving for almost 30 years and have never seen anything like this. Yes, I have had water thrown on the windshield while passing a truck, but not from my own vehicle. This is an accident waiting to happen. Please check into this. There are many families traveling in this type of vehicle, and they need not be injured if this problem is rectified or at the least the owners are notified. It could probably be easily corrected with some type of fender flare. Regards, cory maydew.
Windshield wipers ceased to function unexpectedly. Was able to start by using windshield washer function. This was a temporary solution as wipers only operated for two or three cycles. Starting or stopping selection switch did not correct the defective operation.

Windshield washer spray nozzles froze during low temperature conditions causing serious visibility problems on highway due to salt spray. Extra heavy duty 'red' solution had been used, supposed to be good for -30 degrees f. It appears that the position of the spray nozzles, and perhaps the position of the reservoir tank do no benefit from the heat of the engine or defrosters.
Three failures between 40000-69,500 miles! windshield wipers are erratic. Some times operate by themselves, won't return to normal position, etc. Paid dealer to repair defective switch the first time, 'defective' motor the second time, and now have exact same problem again. I refuse to pay for repairs third time. Obviously a factory defect. ---dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis----769749.
Front windshield wipers activate for no reason. Sometimes they activate when you signal a turn. Most of the time they just come on when they jolly well decide to. Right sliding door locks have failed twice. I have attempted to get them repaired but have failed again after each repair.
Windshield wipers worked intermittently, dealer replaced the motor, however wipers do not clean the window as they did before causing lack of vision, consumer requested that the dealer adjust the wipers and the dealer stated that the wipers were installed according to Chrysler specifications and that if this adjustment was made, the consumer would be charged for it.

See service bulletin # 083695 rev a NHTSA sb046495. No safety defect listed in summary.
While driving down the road all of a sudden windshield wipers will come on, no warnings.
While driving down the road the windshield wipers started without warning and there was no way to stop them . On numerous occaisians this happens and when you use the intermitten feature the wipers stop anywhere on the windshield, not at the bottom as needed. I know of two other people with Chrysler vans who have identical problems with the wipers. Please investigate and get Chrysler to correct this safety deficiency.
Windshield wipers don't work correctly or don't come on at all. Dealer has failed to fix. Help!!! this is a safety hazard. I cannot see to drive in bad weather. I have had problems for months, the number of times was a guess. The dealer replaced the multifunction switch, repaired the wires, and replaced the wiper motor. None of these repairs fixed the problem. They did refund some of my money but I still cannot drive safely. Chrysler corp. Should be made to recall this vehicle and repair at no charge to me. Thank you.
When you start up the vehicle, the intermediate wipers and wiper button both flash continuously, other buttons (ac and circulation) do not light up at all. Airbag indicator light goes on and off. Horn doesn't work on occasion. Wipers turn on by themselves sometimes. Occasionally doesn't start when raining or will die while driving in the rain.

While chatting online with other Chrysler Town & Country owners, we seemed to share a common problem. The windshield wipers in our cars would start scraping across our windshields. On a sunny day this could leave your windshield streaky and cause a temporary loss of vision. This happened to me driving at 65 mph. The windshield wipers come on randomly every day. I think this part is defective and I would like Chrysler to replace it. My warranty is still within three years. But I am over 36,000 miles.
