Drivers seatbelt doesn't stay locked. It comes undone. Driver's seat doest move up or down anymore and tire sensor never goes off. Even after new tires put on.
My car stalls out and throttle single light comes on. . Had throttle fixed and after one day same thing stalls and light comes on. . Don't have money to waste on guessing what's wtong. . Need definite problem solution. Or recall it to find out what's wrong. Its been stalling everywhere . . I'm afraid to drive it on the high way.
Windshield wipers work intermittently, when the switch is on they will turn off and on by themselves. Fast to slow and slow to fast. Causes very dangerous driving conditions in adverse weather conditions. This happens when car is moving, obviously in rainy conditions. Most recent accurate 2-20-17 highway and city streets.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic was able to retrieve several fault codes. The vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system); however, the free repair failed to remedy the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 145,428.
I was driving and airbag light kept coming on and going off. Even after I turned my car off and back on it did the same thing.
Etc failure ( electronic throttle control ) approx. 100,00o on vehicle, highway going steady 65mph and light came on near total power failure. Restarted vehicle seemed to clear itself. Took to Dodge mechanic the computer says it did not happen. . Replaced the (etc) and car is still not operating correctly. . I have zero faith that the car is safe. Researched this etc issue which seems to be widespread.
I was driving down 480 highway my car started smoking and shut off I had it towed my computer motherboard caught fire! thank god it didn't cause me to wreck and get killed.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the engine warning light illuminated intermittently and the vehicle decelerated independently. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the contact was unaware of the exact part that needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
Takata recall, my 2008 Dodge Avenger has always drained batteries fast I thought nothing of it at first until my car began not to start, now it does not start, kills batteries, cruise control does not work, and now the ac is having problems, I looked into the recalls and everything that is going wrong with my car matches the recall that took place in April 2008. I now fear that my car will turn off while I am driving. Please fix this problem before it escalates.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. While driving approximately 60 mph in a rain storm, the windshield wipers failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the tipm was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,000.
The widows won't work it takes forever to put gas in the tank this car has a lot of problems.
My car is having all of the same problems that the vehicles form the tpms recall had. My car isnt covered under the recall though. The cruise control wont work, the battery just goes dead, the remote start sysyem wont work, sometimes the engine wont start, the radio stays on all the time if you dont manually shut it off, the air bag light is on even though there is nothing wrong with it. I feel as though since my car has all the same problems and I have seen many more complaints from others on this site and other websites that the recall should be reevaluated and expanded to cover more of the same year of vehicles. Please do something about this for all of the owners having problems.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. While driving 58 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated on the driver side. The contact also stated that the front passenger side window button no longer worked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.
Air bag continuously goes on. Cruise control does not work. Tire pressure was an issue but had that fixed.
My Avenger is very dangerous and I'm trying to get rid of it because I fear for mine and my children's safety. On several occasions the vehicle has stalled while at idle and even once while I was accelerating on a highway- doing over 60 mph. It also continuously has accelerated on its own, either when slowing down or speeding up it will jump rpms and take off on its own. While going through a school zone the car accelerated on its own and I came very close to hitting two 5 yr olds crossing the road. I've had electrical problems, as the check engine light will come on and off on its own and just recently the combination switch stopped working completely, almost causing me to be rear ended. I've called Dodge and they want $100 just to look at the car, which I cannot afford after dumping many dollars into trying to fix these life threatening issues. I've had it seen there before and they said nothing was wrong when I paid over $500 for repair work. I'm fearful for my life while driving and its caused me much stress and anxiety. I've spoke to several other Avenger owners that experience the same problems in which their only option was to trade it in because they couldn't afford to buy a new vehicle. I personally would junk it myself because I would never want to jeopardize another person or their children's life, however like everyone else I can't afford it and will probably have to trade the "problem" down to some unknowing of the risks and dangers of the vehicle. After spending thousands of dollars for what I thought was a reliable car I am left driving a lemon, taking prescribed ativan for anxiety because I am constantly in fear of driving the thing, and unable to sell because nobody wants it. This car had wrecked my life, and I only want Dodge to take responsiblity. It's a shame to know that I am putting everyone's lives in danger & it's taking a toll on my health.
The tipm suddenly went out, creating hazardous driving conditions for my brake lights, windshield wipers, turn signal lights, are all not working.
Initially thought a brake light bulb was out. Took to a repair shop which they told me there was nothing wrong. Then the windows wouldn't roll up. Found out a major problem occurred that put my safety (and others) in jeopardy. Turns out I needed a costly total integrated power module. Which I found out it controlled a lot of safety features!! my dashboard didn't even signify a problem!.
Tire pressure monitoring system short circuits leading to faulty readings on gauge, cruise control won't operate at speeds over 40 mph, radio constantly skips from one station to another, etc. Contacted Chrysler about the recall on this (recall #: 08v152000) asking to have it repaired free of charge, but they refused. These issues occur when the vehicle is both stationary and mobile.
The tipm went out, causing the vehicle no to start. Some research I have done, tells me that Dodge new about the problem. Its just annoying that it money out of my pocket, and a vehicle I can't drive.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that while at a stand still or traffic light the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number :08v152000 (electrical system). While driving into the city I notice the smell again of burning plastic, the air conditioner switch was hot and stuck in the high position. I had to break away the knob to the lower position of the fan speed to stop the burning smell and then off. This is the second switch ive had to replace since I've has this car ive also found other people also having the high position of this switch fail due to the contact getting hot due to its inability to carry the current required for the fan at high speed. This current caused the old switch contacts to over heat and melt the plastic. I told landers Dodge about this the first time it failed and they said it was just a bad switch,,and now a second one? no theres something wrong with the design of the switch contacts that it keeps burning these out! ive also had the lighter short out, the center contact moved and shorted against the negative of the housing , it got hot enough to melt the ceramic isolator before wire fuse went. Ive saved ll the parts.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. While the vehicle was parked, smoke appeared from the trunk of the vehicle. Upon further inspection, the contact noticed that the right speaker had melted. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,972.
I was stopped at a red light; once the light turned green, I stepped on the gas to go and the vehicle jerked lightly; the warning light for which I now know is the throttle body sensor, blinked on and off; I attempted to give it gas but it would not go past 10 mph; the rpms went up but the speedometer would not move; I have not had any other issues with the vehicle after owning it for 5 years with regular maintenance; the brake down occurred at 101,700 miles; the vehicle is currently being repaired at Dodge dealership at a cost of $530.
I bought this Dodge adventure a month ago and so far it has stalled out 5 times or more at idol. I took it to my mechanic and they cleaned the idol position censer then just yesterday it stalled again on my daughter. . What is the problem with my car?I dont want to keep paying more and more money on trying to figure out this problem.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the electronic throttle body warning light illuminated. The vehicle's speed decreased independently to 20 mph. The contact veered to the emergency lane and shut off the vehicle. The vehicle was able to restart, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
Started having problems with the radio system, it turns off by it self and not turning on. One`s in a while it turns on by it self. It does the same thing if it`s running or it`s the car turned off. Other issue is that the 4 electric windows fronts and rears broke very ease inside the elevator when I lower or turning up. I`m been wasting too much money for this issue. In one point both issues for become unsafe because while I`m driven on want to lower the window it makes a big noise when it breaks. And the radio turns on and off by it self scaring you while I`m driving.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle did restart. The failure recurred two times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed an oil change and a tune up. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was approximately 108,000. Sg.
I took my car in on January 21, 2015 because my airbag light was flashing again but this time it's a clockspring and shawn at Dodge told me that is not safe to drive the car like this because airbags wont work, my cruise control doesn't work and he said more things will fail. I think this should be on the recall list but it isn't. There is no way that I can have it fixed because I get $800 a month and to replace that part is $579. 30. Is there anyway to put this part on the recall list because it's not safe to drive. Thank you.
Stopped at a red light and a symbol on my dashboard appeared. The symbol was a lightening bolt in parenthesis which I've found out is the etc symbol. That along with my engine light came on together. After turning the car off the etc symbol did not reappear but the check engine symbol did. From looking through forums I've seen that this is a problem with numerous Dodge Avengers and to fix these problems cost large sums with no real conclusion of the reason for the symbols appearing in the first place. I would like to request that this problem be noted in the Avenger line and recalled. Thank you for your time and consideration.

This has happened several times but today was the worst. The car has lost power serveral times in the rain mostly when making a turn or slowing down. This time I was driving no rain and the electronic throttle control light starting flashing. I was on the high way and noticed I couldnt accelerate. I started to slow down and move to the side of the road where it just lost power. Thank god I was able to pull over because there was a lot of trafic and I would have been hit. Also my son usually drives this car. This has happened several times to him and when it stalls you loose all power steering and brakes. It is really dangerous. We have had it to the dealer twice and they cant duplicate the problem so according to them there is no problem. I have been reading others complaints and they all seem to be the same issue. Also the airbag light keeps coming on. Is there any resolution to this issue. It seems that people have to die before issues get resolved . I hope Dodge will issue a recall before that happens.
The Dodge charger had a recall were the key would hang when cranking the car. . My Dodge Avenger has the same problem.
I have had my battery replaced (did not help my issues). Next I spent a couple hundred to have my "electrical ground " repaired (also still had the same issues). My original issues (that have not yet been fixed): car stalling, car unable to start, all lights on car flickering. Now my rear lights are not working (therefore I am unable to drive this Dodge Avenger since it is an extreme safety hazard when rear lights/blinkers do not work). . The dealer says it is the tipm that has caused all rear lights to not function anymore as well as the original issues I had. This is a $1,000 repair that I recently learn thousands of Chrysler/Dodge vehicles had same issue with. This does not seem fair that the consumer should pay the expense, when clearly this should have been a recall item. Due to this being a widespread problem amongst Dodge vehicles,. The dealer diagnosed my car as a road safety hazard due to no brake lights/turn signals .
