Car has only 50,000 miles and have had to replace rack and pinion seven months ago. Now the clock spring is bad in steering resulting in borrowed time for air bag. So, if we do not replace this for the cost of $500, my air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident, resulting in possible death. This issue needs to be looked at as soon as possible with Dodge Avengers (2012). There should be no reason my steering wheel should have this many issues starting at 35,000 miles and still continuing. If an air bag does not deploy upon impact and myself, or my child, or someone dies as a result of the faulty clock spring and air bags, it will not be a very good situation. This issue needs to be looked at immediately. My car is currently at the Dodge auto shop and I purchased an extended warranty from mastertech when I purchased the vehicle, but apparently, my warranty does not cover air bags. This is something I feel that needs to be covered on all warranties, people's lives are worth covering. Please look into this safety issue with my car, and others as soon as possible. Thank you.

The airbag light came on during driving the vehicle. After a few days I took it to a Dodge service, they said the drivers active headrest & wiring harness was defective and needed to be replace for about $700, this could cause the airbag to not deploy if in an accident. I saw the recall for non-deployment of airbags - NHTSA campaign number: 13v282000 and wanted to know why this recall did not include the issue (appears to be the same as what I am experiencing) with my vehicle.

I was driving in the fast lane on the freeway at about 64 mph. Another car, who was driving faster than I was, was in the carpool lane to my left. He slammed into my car on the driver side passenger door and tire. I then slid down the freeway almost sideways while I watched his car roll over 3 times before sliding to a stop. None of my air bags deployed. I hit my head and left shoulder, twice, against the window and the hard plastic part by where the seatbelt comes out. I was lucky and walked away with a concussion, severe neck pain, and back pain. The other driver was arrested for a dui. I am very concerned that the airbags did not deploy. Good lord! how hard do you have to be hit?.

Vehicle vered into my lane not enought time to stop hit the vehicle from behing. Stering locked and driver airbag did not deploy only passanger side did. My car was a total lost.
I recently was in car accident and my air bags never deployed. I checked into this with crysler company. According to them there was a recall, but I never was notified of the recall. My car is sitting in fingerlakes collision body shop untouched because of liability issues. Chrysler took my information down but has responded with my complaint. My complaint number with cysler is 26291789. The body shop number is 315-568-6390. Chris replied that it takes a lot of power to have the bags go off. I said the seat belts hurt us, tot he point of bruizes around neck, shoulders, and back. I have talken to several attorneys and because we are not dead or have a limb missing they cant help us.
I was driving and hit a phone pole head on. My Dodge Avenger was concaved at the drivers front side. The vehicle was crushed thru the bumber, bumper reinforcement, radiator. The air bags never deployed. The cost of the damaged vehicle was 5 grand. This accident caused a concussion and torn rotator cuff.
I was cut off by another driver who failed to stop and yield to oncoming traffic (me). I braked hard to avoid rear ending him, but he turned into my lane when I was too close. To make the long story shot, I ended up colliding with him. The crash was pretty bad, and both the driver and passenger air bags failed to deploy. I sustained major injuries to my face, shoulders, back, neck, and legs. A police report was made, but I have not reported the defect to Dodge. What should I do? should I go civil?.
I was the passenger in our 2012 Dodge Avenger. Another car pulled across three lanes of traffic and we hit her with the whole front end of our car. The air bags did not deploy. All persons in car were wearing seat belts. But the passenger seat belt tensioner failed to tighten. I was thrown into the dashboard and floor. My injuries: both knees, neck and back.
We hit a deer and the front of the car was demolished. Upon inspection the next morning, I noticed that an airbag sensor was shattered and just hanging by the wire harness. Airbags did not deploy, I was concerned about this and never got a straight answer from anyone. Now I get a recall notice saying faulty restraint system, I'm not too happy. . .

I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger. My airbag light keeps coming on and off intermittently. I noticed if I move passenger seat forward or back it comes on and stays on longer. When I'm driving down the road there can be no one in the seat and the light will come on. After reading all the complaints around this issue, air bags deploy when driving and not hitting anything, or air bags not deploying when in collision, I think this is a huge safety issue! all of these people were told their VIN # didn't match the recall. I made appointment with lithia Dodge in helena mt and the guy told me on the phone he didn't even want me to drive the car because of how unsafe it is. I took it to appointment today and the guy today told me there are no recalls on my car. He said the airbag light has nothing to do with the airbag recall. What!?! big surprise, my VIN doesn't match!! why are we all having the same safety issue but not on the recall list????.
The airbag light is illuminated continuously. The air bag will not deploy if there is an accident. I called the dealer and my vehicle does not qualify for a recall though it was made in 2008. Other 2008 Dodge Avengers are eligible.

I was driving my 2008 Dodge Avenger to work on 01/12/12. It was raining that morning. I attempted to merge to my right when suddenly my windshield wipers stopped and my steering wheel began to turn 360 degrees however my tires were not moving. I banged in the median. My airbags did not deploy. I was unconscious and the next thing I remember is someone cutting my drivers door off to get me out. I contacted Dodge and they informed me that this was normal wear and tear of a vehicle. I do not understand how? I have not been able to return to work due to my injuries and Dodge could careless. I could have lost my life that day. . . . Thank god I didn't. I need to know what to do next?.

"takata recall " recent and ongoing problem with my 08 Dodge Avenger is the airbag light has been coming on randomly, from start up and while driving. Airbag has never deployed or no injuries to vehicle, has been on and off since last year. Oil pressure light was also on, got the oil pressure sensor replaced, would start off from start up and would come on and off consteadly. Front driversseatbelt also stopped retracting have recently had that changed as well. The tpms light has been on for about 2 years now, turns on at start up and stays on while driving. The engine light has also been on for awhile now too, from start up and while driving, just stays on, since a few months of vehicle purchase, was actually still making payments when I took it in for service for the engine light, came off and back on 2 months later, been struggling with it every since. Just have learned to live with the engine light on and tpms light on as well. Have had to change the alternator 3 times on this car already too. My car drives fine now, don't want to just keep ignoring the problem, would really like that fixed.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. While driving 20 mph and making a left turn another vehicle crashed into the front right side of her vehicle and her air bag did not deploy. The damage to the engine was severe and it shifted backwards towards the rear causing the frame to bend. The repair cost was over $11,000. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a collision shop. A police report was filed. There were no other passengers in the vehicle and the driver was wearing a seat belt during the impact. There was no maintenance performed on the air bags. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 42,000.
An end over end roll of 5 to 8 rolls where the air bags did not deploy. This happened in a 2008 Dodge Avenger ,which has an air bag recall but I was told mine was not on the recall list. It is pretty evident that there was a defective problem somewhere that kept the bags from deploying. I am concerned how many other Avengers should have been on that recall and why mine was not or why the bags did not deploy properly.
My son bought a new Dodge Avenger 2008 back in March. He was in a wreck on Sunday Dec 14th. He was exiting the turnpike (road had started to ice over) and he slid into the car in front of him. He hit the car in front of him. Estimated speed at time of impact was about 50 mph. His air bags did not deploy. The car dealer told him that it would only deploy if he hit the car right on the center front.
