1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2012 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 12/31/2020

Vehicle goes into transmission limp mode out no where causing vehicle to slow down and lock into 1st gear. While doing this the vehicle is incapable of picking up speed or maintains speed safely of over 20 to 25 miles per hour. Diagnostic code is p0882 on my code scanner stating possible loose pin connection or connections, low voltage to transmission control tipm ( totally integrated power module ), tcm ( transmission control module ) etc. , car was in motion on highway and would not accellerate to beyond 20-25 miles per hour max as car will not upshift. After checking all connections I reset and erased code and car drove a few miles normally and shifting properly before doing same again within 5 minutes. Had car towed 25 miles home at night. Spoke to service tech at local Dodge dealer. He stated this is a common issue with these model cars all the way thru the new Dodge challenger. And myself I state this is a safety issue as you unexpectedly can not avoid slowing down and you can not speed up to avoid a rear end collision by others driving behind you.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2009 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 07/05/2019

I was driving down the road and all of a sudden it was like the transmission shifted down to a lower gear, the engine reved up and then within a few mins stalled out. With no warning also all the warning lights were lit up. When I tried to restart the car it just clicked after jump start because of trying to start it . . . Restarted but still was "stuck" in the low gear and stalled out again. I then called a tow truck and had it towed home. I looked up recalls for the year of the model and found the recall #h33- tcm/pcm was recalled on 712 models by VIN it says mine isn't one of those but by description it did exactly as the recall describes. I was on a very busy interstate road during 4th of July traffic and almost caused an accident trying to pull off the road as my car suddenly slowed down and then stalled.

4 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2014 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 10/21/2018

I was less than 1 mile from home. I noticed the throttle wasnt responding as it should when I pressed the pedal. The etc light was blinking and the traction light was on. I was not able to drive over 20 mph and I was almost rear ended by the vehicle behind me. After having it towed and having two mechanics look at it, they determined it to be a throttle body failure. This was replaced. I picked the car up. Less than 1/2 a mile from the shop, I lost power again and the same lights reappeared with the engine light now lit up. I took it back. He ran the code and it was showing possible an vacuum issue. He kept it over night to take a looked at it again. It was determined their was no vacuum issue and now a code for the map sensor was being reported. It was replaced and the mechanic drove it three times at different distances. No issues. I pick the car up. I get almost home (3 miles away). Etc light blinks, engine light on, traction light on. At this point the mechinca believes it to be the pcm which he says is a common issue with Dodges. So at this point he is going to put the old throttle body and map sensor back on and replaced the pcm.

I've already had to replace the power control module (pcm) once just a year and a half ago, and now I have to replace it again and my car has been out of commission and sitting at a mechanic's repair shop for almost 2 months now after fixing other things first before finally determining it was the pcm again.
