2 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/31/2019

The entire subframe is rusted through and is starting to crack, as seen in the photos, while the rest of the car is in good condition. When I turn left, the left side of the car makes a "crunching" sound due to the rust accumulated on the subframe. The rust that has accumulated has made this car unsafe to drive, as it is starting to crack and could crack completely through when I am driving. Other Dodge Caliber 2007 subframes have been recalled due to this issue, and this VIN should definitely be added to that recall.

3 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

My daughter bought a used 2007 Dodge Caliber with 83,493 miles on it in 2016. In 2018 the car became very unstable and found the cross structure in the rear was so corroded and rusted it cracked in half. She, I, and others could have been killed. And I see now 100's of others that has the same problem. What do we do about this? eat $5,000. 00 ? this needs to be taken care of. . She was driving and I was with her at night and raining, on the freeway when it started to shake so bad I thought it was going to fall apart. We creeped it home and friends looked underneath and said omg. . So again,, how do we replace this? and what is being done? there were no notifications on this at all period. I don't care if it was 1 car. This needs to be recalled. . It could be a family with children, a head on crash, who knows. . It's dangerous. . Mad mother. . It happened on or around may 14, 2018 and I don't know exactly what the miles were at that time, gave a estimate. . This is as bad as having a drunk driver coming at you. . Please recall. .

5 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

I did some work on the front end, I replaced tierod end and ball joints, also put new tires on the car. I was scheduling an alignment when the front would make a pop sound and a slight snap when going over bumps and when the steering wheel is turned to the left. I looked to see what the matter was and the sub frame was cracked and rusted. . . I wash the car 2 a month especially in winter. The sub frame also connects the swaybar, struts and it cant get aligned due to the broken frame. . All too prematurely.

6 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 08/19/2016

Driving down the road and making a righthand turn, I heard a loud pop then the car started pulling hard to the right. I had to decrease my speed to 25 mph due to the severe pulling. Had dad look at car and found the sub frame was cracked in half on drivers side. The car has not moved at all since that was found. My 3 year old daughter is often in this vehicle!.

7 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/10/2014

While driving the car it would make creaking noises underneath the engine and front suspension area. The vehicle was taken to the owner's regular repair shop for state inspection and report the creaking noise in the engine, front end area. The technician diagnosed the cause of the creaking noise as a rusted out engine carrier and also a worn out rack and pinion assembly. I decided to report this serious problem because other individuals who have this automobile may also experience the same condition. The engine cradle and rack and pinion assembly are vital components for safe handling and structural integrity of the vehicle. Being that this is an expensive major repair, the manufacturer needs to know of the problem and should design and improve these components to resist rust and wear and last for the life of the vehicle. The engine carrier rust problem and rack and pinion assembly should also be investigated to determine the possibility of a recall.
