9 Equipment problem of the 2007 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/23/2023

The window regulators of this car (& other vehicles of the same model) is a poor product of productivity. The cable wires that hold the window to guide the window up & down are known to & have become tangled up around the component that is said to properly wrap up the guided cable wires in the correct placement for the windows to continue to be able to roll up & down as intended. It's not just one door, it is literally every single door in this vehicle that has this issue. When I decided to try & save a little bit of money & get some used window regulators, I go to a salvage yard that had another Dodge Caliber (different model, how ever, same window regulators) just to find upon inspection, that every single door has a spoon in between the window & the rubber guard piece. Took the door panel off to further inspect & that vehicle had the same issue I have at this very moment. . . Cable wires completely tangled up and completely non salvageable. Removed the spoon & the window fell down. Now I understand that it doesn't sound like a safety issue but when you are driving down the highway, doing the speed limit, and your window falls down, it's very startling and honestly a distraction while driving. Not only is that a distraction but have you ever had a bird fly into your car, from the hole that was once a window? talk about a distraction. It's like a bee flying into your helmet while riding a motorcycle or 4wheeler. Ah! main focus is that flying object to come out, so you try to roll down the other windows only to remember after pushing the buttons that, OH wait, they won't roll down. Ever since the window fell, not only is that a safety issue for the ones in my car, now it's a safety issue for those driving onside of me till I can get onto the shoulder, if there is one. And hopefully the weather is nice yes, it has been confirmed & inspected by an independent service center, & yes it is available for inspection upon request. No warning lamps.

This car is not safe for me or my family. No warning lamps or messages. I was told that one bad bump could do us in. 22 Equipment problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

2008 Dodge Caliber with approx. 135,000 miles on it. Rotted subframe and rusted crossbar. Vehicle started swerving as if driving on ice (in the summertime!). Took it to a reputable mechanic and he wouldn't even put it on a lift. He said it was too much of a risk. I understand this is common on this vehicle, it's dangerous and should be recalled! no more Dodge vehicles for me, ever!.

23 Equipment problem of the 2011 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 09/08/2021

At 140000 miles I noticed that my entire subframe was ready to completely collapse and no auto shop would work on it whatsoever. I reached out and found out that there was nothing I could do about it it I had the car for 2 years and it’s had this issue the whole time not cool safety should be first.

24 Equipment problem of the 2011 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 06/22/2021

I just purchased my 16 year old daughter a 2011 Dodge Caliber with approximately 75,000 miles on it. Great shape. She has drove it here and there for 3 months. 2 nights ago while driving she started hearing a noise so we took it to the shop to be told the entire cradle/frame is rusted and not safe to drive. This car has close to the same amount of miles my 2018 car has and clearly has been well taken care of for the entire frame to be rusted. To then be told it’s not safe to drive and I had my newly licensed driver in this car it’s heartbreaking. This is going to cost $1500 to repair on a car with less than 100,000 miles. After hearing about the issue I look online and see a lot of complaints about this same issue on other Calibers of different years and this year as well. Dodge needs to fix this ASAP. This should be a recall. Someone could get hurt or killed and have no clue. The sound isn’t even that loud just sounds like a bald tire so thankfully she did stop and tell me and we took the car some people may not do that.

25 Equipment problem of the 2009 Dodge Caliber

26 Equipment problem of the 2009 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

During an inspection by my dealer it was noted that the front subframe was rusted through. The car was taken to a different repair shop where it was determined that the rear subframe was also rusted through. It was determined that this was an ongoing issue that the dealership failed to note during previous inspections. Allowing the failure to be pushed out past the time of an extended warranty repair. The corroded subframes allowed more flexure in the sub frames add stress to the bushings and support structures causes the repair cost to multiply. These component failures could lead to a catastrophic failure of the car while driving and should be corrected by the manufacturer.

27 Equipment problem of the 2010 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 01/04/2021

Front subframe is rusted out with visible holes. Manufacturer only extended warranty and did not issue recall. I just found out and tried to get it repaired but extended warranty is expired and they will not cover costs. Tons of owners complaining about this as it is listed as front and rear crossmember corrosion (x69 warranty extension) - 2008-2012 Dodge Caliber & Jeep compass/patriot> tons of owners are furious and trying to get help on this serious issue that can easily result in a catastrophic accident and even death.

28 Equipment problem of the 2008 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 12/28/2020

Took vehicle in for maintenance, technician told us the front crossmember is rusted throughout and needs replacement. Technician advised it's a safety issue and this model was given extended warranty under x69 notice, however warranty may have already expired. I contacted Chrysler representative and they advised the vehicle was part of the x69 notice but was beyond the extended warranty that expired in June 2018. I am the second owner of vehicle band never received notice of the issue from Chrysler/Dodge. The crossmember rust issue appears to be a common problem with this model. I am requesting an investigation and recall for this part.

34 Equipment problem of the 2010 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 09/09/2020

The crossmember or engine cradle rusted through causing a lot of creaking noises while being driven. Upon diagnosis it was recommended to be replaced immediately.

35 Equipment problem of the 2010 Dodge Caliber

Failure Date: 07/15/2020

The front and rear subframe are rotted/rusted to the point it is ready to collapse in half at any given time. There was a warranty extension on the vehicle that expired in Dec. 2019 and originally was extended by 5 years in 2017. I do not feel that this is adequate due to the potential hazard this would pose going down the highway at 60mph. Big safety concern and they don't plan on helping in any way shape or form due to being 6 months past their extended warranty. I believe this really needs to be inspected since this subframe issue is known from 3-4 different Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep models and not adequately covered by the manufacturer. Should be a recall, no rust on the vehicle besides the rotted frame. Known issue on these vehicles and not adequately addressed/covered when such a safety concern.
