Subframe is or has rotted out. The car is a 2011 new from dealership but , was purchased may of 2012. Car was in motion at 20 mph on a city street. No one was hurt, luckcally. Would like to know if this is under warranty, would part be replaced and if other components are effected by the frame collapsing, would those parts be replaced and repaired at the expense of the car manufacture?.
While my wife was driving, the front subframe crossmember rusted through, causing her to lose control of the car and she could not safely operate it without repair. I managed to get it to a firestone for them to look at and they referred me to a dealer and told me not to drive it anymore because it is unsafe. This is a problem that Dodge knew about, but failed to notify me about. I only found out about the problem from the dealership, who told me that the extended warranty that covers this problem had expired in 2018 and that I would be responsible for the cost of any repairs. I owned the car during that time and I did not know of this problem, so I could not act on getting it repaired. This never should have been an extended warranty, this should have been a recall because of the potential to kill people when the subframe rusts out. My wife was driving in a parking lot at the time at a relatively low speed, but had this happened on a highway it could have killed her and my son, as well as others on the road. Number: 23-007-17 rev. B group: body date: March 10, 2017.

The occupant restraint controller must be replaced. The potential loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability in such crash events may increase the risk of injury in a crash.
I've never been in an accident but the driver's headrest still broke. Why did this happen?.

I saw its a recall on the 2007 Dodge cablier other ppl are complaining about this same problem . . Its very unsafe to drive a car like this with my family.

My son was at a stop sign on a residential street. He accelerated to make a right hand turn, heard a loud pop, the car jolted and pulled in the opposite direction. Behind the driver's side tire, the suspension broke. Took to a garage and was told the entire frame was pitted and rusted through. Was also told by the mechanic that this was a known issue with our make and model car. He told us that my sons were very lucky that they were not on a highway or traveling any faster, as they would have been in a very bad accident!!!.
I washed my car for the first time and that is when I noticed my cars frame is rusted out. There is a big hole in the middle of my frame that is near the motor. I have to drive it and it sounds like it's going to break in half. It is worst when I hit a bump in the road, like speed bumps. My car has 106k miles the body has little to no rust. I've owned it only a few months.
Got it from the dealership engine light came on right after I drove off and it's going to be 100 dollars to have them even look at it the parts.
The throttle body seems to be a huge thing even on youtube, it keeps going out. This should be something you replace. It's faulty and now mine had just broke down and we have to replace it with a 300 throttle body. This should defiantly be a recall ASAP, especially because it's many many people with this vehicle.

The front sub-frame is severely corroded / rusted. I noticed this when doing front end work while the vehicle was stationary.
My vehicle went in for an oil change and I was told that my sub frame is rusting and until my front crossmember is replaced to not drive the vehicle it is unsafe. My neighbor who is a mechanic said it was a known problem with my car and he believed their to be a recall. I looked online and couldn't find a recall but eventually I found something on Chrysler's website about x69 corrosion that affected 2008 to 2012 Calibers and Jeep compasses. They knew about this problem. They never told anyone to look for this. I asked about it and their solution was they offered an extended warranty for 10 years and that my warranty expired several months ago so I was out of luck. My family's safety has an expiration??? I am the only owner of this vehicle and never had my frame checked now all of a sudden it's unsafe to drive. Since they knew about this problem and because it wasn't a mandated recall they only have to fix the ones that are brought to a dealer within 10 years? if they fix somewhere else they won't know about this extended warranty. This seems unfair. They used sub par parts and now consumers are they one putting themselves and their families at risk. They should be required to fix the cars. Safety should not have an expiration. I have no choice but to drive the car but I will not put my children in the car. It's an expensive fix and I don't feel I should have to pay for something they knew about and if I would have had a mechanic check a few months ago I would have known about it and could have had it replaced for free from them but I guess they win in that situation because I never knew to look for it. My safety should not come with an expiration.
My 2007 Dodge Caliber's subframe is severely rusted and there's less then 80,000 miles on the car. A car that new should not rust so bad in such a short amount of time. The warranty on the car should be a recall because the subframe is so rusted that it's dangerous and too unsafe to drive anywhere. In addition to the car being a safety hazard, the subframe is very expensive to fix thanks to the amount of time it takes to remove the subframe. With the subframe gone bad, the rusted out subframe also damages attached parts of the car. The struts in the rear and front have gone bad due to the subframe's erosion.
Let me start by saying that I love driving my 2008 Dodge Caliber and wish that it was worth repairing all of the issues that I am researching are common problems among fellow owners of this year, make and model of vehicle. As a person who pays close attention to my vehicle, repair costs have been adding up over the past couple of years. Starting with a complete repair related to the suspension including the control arms/ bushings, sway bar, ball joints, and tie rods, which has caused my 4 new tires to experience a shortened lifespan due to uneven wearing. Recently, I had my car in the shop to address a loud noise I was hearing while the vehicle was in motion. The mechanic diagnosed a long list of issues, including rusting/corrosion to the engine cradle and further problems with the suspension that in their professional opinion determined the vehicle unsafe to operate. At this point, the mechanic informed me that there had been recalls and an extended warranty implemented to address the rusting/corrosion of the sub frame, as I was unaware and did not receive any notices for any of the listed recalls. Today, I find myself researching the list of problems that the mechanic indicated with the suspension and rotting engine cradle and will unfortunately not be worth putting thousands of dollars into to make it safe, an issue that should be honoured by the manufacturer. I would like to take the proper steps to address this extreme safety concern that has been an obvious issue for many owners like myself. I wonder how many others did not receive the recall notice for the rotting engine cradle and have spent thousands in repairs on that and/or suspension malfunctions? these problems are not minor and need to be addressed, as I am sure there are many owners who have not been made aware of the recall and safety concerns this poses to operators or others in the vehicle presence.
While driving at normal speed limits 35-45 vehicle seems to be off balance as if it is going to fishtail or I will lose control of the vehicle. I'm not sure of what this issue is but, I have seen previous recalls with this issue and I want to have this issue fixed if possible.
Failed state inspection do to rusted front and rear sub frame with perforation . Vehicle has 138 321 miles. Reference Chrysler action # 23-012-14. Recall/extended warranty.
Rotting/rusting subframe. Not listed as a recall for this model year, but was for the previous years.
Rear crossmember subframe rusted and broken causing driveshaft and the rear differential to shift during acceleration. Noticed a thumbing sound when driving on local city street at approximately 25 mph on Dec. 12, 2018.
Floor on passenger side (front and back seat) are wet. Carpeting and floor mats are soaked through consistently. Seems to get worse during rainy weather, but is consistent.
The structure/frame in the front of our 2012 Dodge Caliber was so rusted that it broke while we were driving. The frame broke when we pulled off of the interstate and stopped at the end of an exit. This issue has not been addressed by a recall, b ut a bulletin has been released.

I went to get the car inspected and the mechanic told me that the motor mounts are rusted out and will need to be replaced. The car has less than 70,000 miles.
My 2008 Dodge Caliber would not pass inspection 2 weeks ago. The rear cross member is rotted out, the front control arms are also in need of replacement. There was a k frame recall on 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012, but not 2008. The car was unsafe to drive and it has ruined my new tires. I drove the car back to my house and parked it. It is going to cost me $2000 for repairs. My extended warranty expired January of 2018.
Electrical throttle control light has popped up several times and I've noticed it's when it has rained. When this happens, the car slows down and causes forcefully pull over and shut the car off. It doesn't start after the first few tries and eventually does. The car began to overheat after driving it over 60mph for about 20mins. The car has given me the engine coolant temperature warning symbol when this happens, making an ugly almost screeching sound, slows down the car until I can't push the gas any longer causing me to pull over to turn off the car until it restarts again. The car is beginning to over heat after driving it for a long period of time over 20 mins this will began to happen. I've put coolant recently and not sure if there's a hole in the reservoir but I've done what I could to get this fixed. The car jolts after 3rd gear especially going up hill.
Struts and ball joints have been replaced 5 times since owning this car the past 5 years. Currently being repaired after subframe broke while I was driving. Did some research and apparently this is a huge issue. Not only while I was driving when it broke, I had my kids with me. While making a left hand turn onto a busy street I heard a loud 'snap' and lost all control of my car.
Yes my daughter has a 08 Dodge Caliber but the manufacturer date is 11 07 the engine cradle is completely rusted out. Mechanic said this is a serious safety issue. He said poor ~metal quality causes this. She needs help with this. She is still making payments on this. She is afraid to drive it. The car is setting now.
My transmission is lunging forward t all rates of speed.
Takata recall. My car keeps on blowing the rear tire about every 6-8 months. My steering wheel also shakes/vibrates when driving over 55 mph. The tires are wearing uneven. I have discovered that there is a rear cross member recall for my car which would explain this. I will be taking my car in to be aligned however I would like to know how to get the recall honored before doing so.
My car has had electrical issues and most all the Calibers do also has transmission issues which has had multiple complaints Dodge refuses to answer or fix any of the cars or issue recalls they have been made well aware if you check forums as well you can see the difficult times other people have had and the dangerous situations.
Took our Dodge Caliber 2008 (manufacturer date: 11/2007) to a mechanic for repairs thought to be struts and was told the front cradle was rusted out and need to be replaced to continue any safe driving. This was a 2007 recall but was never included in any titled 2008 cars that were manufactured in 2007. This is a very dangerous issue and seems to be reported more often now at the 10 year mark. This is something that is not a traditional problem on most vehicles and seems to be a manufacturers defect. I would like to see it recalled, because the replacement cost on this is in the thousands and it is a severe safety hazard.
During an overall check up of the vehicle, the mechanic found rusting of the sub frame. He advised this was a known issue and that driving it for another 6 months may be pushing our luck.
I bought this car, and I found out that my car recalled several items. I just wanted to know if they were fix. How do I found out if they were fix or not. My number is 253 561 5398.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Caliber. The contact stated while driving 30 mph the contact heard a abnormal noise on drivers rear side wheel coming from underneath vehicle, in addition the steering wheel started vibrating. The contact was able to drive and parked vehicle home. The contact inspected vehicle front and noticed the crossmember was rusted. The vehicle was not diagnosed by dealer. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000. As.
The electronic throttle light came on while driving on ih35, I lost power and myvehicle went on 5 miles per hour then stopped in the middle of the highway.
Took car in for inspection and was told by mechanic that the frame was shot, totally rusted out and could break anytime.
Car stopped while driving several times and then would t start at all. Replaced fuse and it ran for a little bit and then wouldn't accelerate over 40. After getting back home engine wouldn't start at all or it would take almost 30 minutes to try and it would sometimes fire up. Now it will not start at all. Starter is new and the only other thing we can think is maybe electrical. That and the lack of acceleration are major problems and it needs to be addressed!.
