Child Seat Problems of Dodge Caravan - part 1

Got diono radian rxt back in spring of 2018. The straps come loose easily from 3 year old pushing on them. Have tried contacting company for a week on email, facebook and phone. I don't hear back anything from them to remedy this,.

I use the evenflo chase dlx booster car seat for my 3 year old. Most of the time we don't have occasion to remove the seat, but because I was leaving her with my mom overnight, I wanted to take the seat out for her use. When I tried to reinstall the seat the following evening, the lower "tether" snapped completely out at the plastic "bolt" on the back of the seat. There was no way to fix the problem and I had to install the seat with the seat belt and "h clip". My concern is if I hadn't uninstalled/reinstalled the seat, using the vehicle tether system, and I had to make a sudden stop or been in an accident, my daughter may have been seriously injured. The seat is still usable with the seat belt, however, this matter is of great concern. I don't want any other parent to not know about this defect and think their child is safe. : the contact stated the four screws that hold the adjustment bar located on the back of the child safety seat have loosened over time resulting in complete detachment of the adjustment bar. The adjustment bar is used to adjust the height of the shoulder straps and without the screws the straps can no longer be adjusted. The adjustment bar could probably be screwed back into place however, the contact expressed hesitation due to safety concerns. The manufacturer was alerted who provided no reassurance for continually use of the safety seat. The seat was only in use for three years and has never been in an accident. The manufacturer of the child safety seat is dorel juvenile group. The brand name is cosco. The model # 22-260 hou.

The seat belt of the integrated car seat mechanism is not working properly. Dealer notified. Please provide further information.

Consumer states that the integrated child seat restraint system fell apart when consumer was unbuckling it.

The consumer went to take her child out of the carseat. And the strap tightened up, she had to cut the strap in half to retreive her child from the seat.

While driving toddler that was sitting in child seat on second row bench outboard seat child seat came completely off bench seat while attached to seatbelt. Child fell near sliding door. Please provide any further information.

Straps on integrated child seat is tangled. Straps cannot be adjusted. Straps do not hold child in seat properly. Please provide any further information.

Child was in integrated child seat and seat would unbuckle, but the straps would not retract so child could get out of seat. This has happened twice. Took vehicle to dealer, and dealer indicated a cable and/or internal parts have broken.

Integraded safety belt stacked and my wife could not remove child from the safety belt on the passenger side. Dealer won't replace the safty belt free.

Retainer clip on integrated child seat is too loose, will break if involved in a vehicle crash. Dealer notified. Feel free to provide any further information.

Seat belt keeps retracting, and consumer had to get a knife to cut belt because it would not retract. There is a recall on the intergrated child seat on these vehicles, and consumer is having the same problem.

Conusmer has an integrated child seat and the belt tightened up around the child's neck when trying to get her out. Consumer was going to cut it, but managed to slide child's head underneath the belt. Dealer has not been contacted.

The child belt retrector catches child's hair, and pulls it into the spool for the seat belt, causing hair to get stuck in spool, causing pain to child.

Built in child restraint failed locking up on child, consumer had to cut to remove child, informed that restraint was recalled prior to incident, however not notified.

Consumer had recall # 98-v-185-000 repaired yesterday. The dealership added emergency release clips which helps to release them. But when pulling up over child's head the belt gets tighter on the child's chest, not completely releasing.

Retractor failed to operate when consumer wanted to remove child from the integrated child seat. Belt would continually tighten . Consumer had to cut the belt to remove her child. Dealer notified and informed consumer that the parts have not arrived since 14-Sep-98. Mfr. Notified, and continued to inform consumer that the parts would be in ; but no date could be given. Part has finally been repaired.

The built-in css latching mechanism would press up against the child's crotch area, causing the child to be in pain or claims to be hurting child. Took vehicle to dealer to have mechanism extended. Was refused due to federal regulations.

Integrated child safety seat would not unlock, when trying to disengage the belt became tighter and choked the child. The consumer had to cut straps to remove child.

Integrated child safety seat locked up and got tighter.

The police department had to cut the harness straps to get the child out of the intergrated css because the more one would try to get the child out of the intergated css, the more the harness straps would tighten up.

Integrated child seat wont retract when pulled out. Weatherstripping on drivers door fell off found out the drivers door was not aligned properly. Constant belt noise especially during wet conditions. Dealer must repeatedly tighten them. Brakes pulsate when applying them. Replaced numerous components on rear brakes. Fuel tank would not read fuel level correctly. Dealer had to replace fuel tank, fuel pump, and other components and said the fuel tank was bowed. Dual sliding doors have to be repeatedly adjusted because they become difficult to slide. Driver's side window regulator broke for no apparent reason. Right rear child safety seat had hole in the buckle. Replaced battery once. Installed child safety belt extensions due to recall. Van is now back in shop for unknown problems, will not start.

Intergated css harness tightens up on the child when trying to release the harness. This is a safety defect because this harness can tighten up around the child's neck and really harm him.

The child's safety deat does not accomodate a child under 3 years of age--the buckly mechanism is too close to the groin of the child, causing pain and discomfort. Also, the latch mechanism often gets obstructed by food/crumbs and will not release.

Toddler's seat retracts and the belt restraint system malfunctioned. Contacted the dealer.

Consumer was driving 50 to 55 mph and the transmission locked up, causing the vehicle to stop instantly and the occupant was pushed in the the windshield. Also abs brakes pulsated under heavier braking applications/child safety seat locked up, and it was nearly impossible to get 2-year old out/heater hose developed a hole and leaked/replaced power window fuse, and driveshaft broke, vehicle lost control, driver sustained injuries.
