Fuel pump continues to stay on when vehicle is off with no key in ignition. This is causing battery drain and hard starts after jumping battery. Car also is stalling at times while in motion. I have seen a recall for other males and models of same year from mopar vehicles, such as durango. It seems to be fuel pump relay in tipm.

I was sitting in traffic waiting for the red light to turn green. My right foot slipped off the brake and the van immediately lunged forward. I stepped on the brake ASAP, but the car sitting in front of me was hit in the rear. I have no idea why this rental vehicle lunged forward quickly for no reason. I researched other incidents with this same make and model vehicle and found lots of incidents that were very similar. Some surged in speed for no reason and some lunged forward for no reason; as well as many other scenario's that were similar. Some say it relates to a problem with the tipm and fuel pump and other reasons were cited.

The fuel pump relay switch won't shut off. It run doen battery and kilks the whole van.
I replaced a fuel pump because my van would start only after excessive cranks and then would not stay started. After replacing unit, the problem came back the very next day. My mechanic was stumped so he went on line to find out that this problem is associated with the tipm module. The same problem that other Dodges have and is covered under a recall, this van is not under such a recall, yet has the same symptoms. I would like to know why? this is a danger to my wife and kids. The fuel pump relay which is the problem could stop at any time while the car is being driven and cause a serious accident. Please, do something so that people can be safe while driving this car!.
Top of the fuel pump is made of plastic and was found cracked in two places. Internet search yielded many other examples with photos showing cracks in exactly the same place. Result of these cracks is a fuel leak as well as strong gas fumes in and around the vehicle resulting in an obvious fire hazard. Leaks at all time that the vehicle is running as well as for some time after the vehicle is stopped and parked.

Fuel leak caused by cracks in fuel pump fittings.
Purchased used 2005 Dodge Caravan with 100000 miles and it was leaking fuel around the fuel pump, took it to merlins to have it checked out resulting in replacement of fuel pump modeule due to the fact it was cracked and had to be replaced.
My van when I fill it up would runn so ruff and then would die trying to cross the street. Then it started smelling like gas when I filled it up. . Then it started smelling like gas and trying to die when I filled it up. So as long as I dont fill it more than half way I was ok. My son finds out about this and makes me take the car in. They tell me it is the fuel pump, fuel tank and cannister. I ask how can it be all 3 ? go head and take it apart and make sure whats proken and fix it. They say its under recall and needs a new tank and cannister but pump is not included. Well if it pumps fine under half a tank and runs fine under half a tank then what going on. They replace everything cnly charge me 7. 00 for labor but 397. 00 for parts. A month later call me back to replace it all again. They never shower me the bad parts as requested.
The vehicle tipm module needs replacing registered mechanic stated the module malfunctioning is the problem for me fuel pump going out and the drainage of two batteries I purchase. And the problem for other electrical problems that have occurred with the vehicle. Two other problems; which one was a recall was a motor malfunction which could have possible caused a fire the other was a replacent of a engine left cylinder head.
Dealership trying to have me replace battery and fuel pump even though they know what the problem is. Having to get the tipm replaced. Car wont start easily or at all. Shuts off by itself. Having to pay $1200 to get this fixed. Crooks!.
Vehicle randomly will crank excessively and not start; once started will sputter out and die. First occurred on 11/18/14. Repaired at no charge. Was told that recall on same engine (3. 6 liter) in Jeep line but hadn't happen yet on Dodge Caravan. Replaced fuel pump (customer paid) and didn't fix problem.
The tipm module was faulty, causing the fuel pump to either not engage when trying to start the vehicle, or cut out while the vehicle was in motion, other times the fuel pump would remain on after turning off the vehicle. . . Pumping gasoline fumes into our garage for long periods of time. Dodge refused to acknowledge that this was a tipm failure and instead tried to convince me to replace the fuel pump multiple times. . . We did replace the fuel pump once which had not affect on this issue.
Van cranks but won't start. Have to try to crank it multiple times before it will start. Have replaced battery and fuel pump.
For the past several weeks we have had intermittent problems starting our van. It will occasionally do nothing when the key is turned, it will also just turn over without starting. The second problem seemed to be getting progressively worse- meaning that it would take more attempts to crank it. This past weekend it would not crank after many attempts. After troubleshooting most of the day I realized that the fuel pump seemed to be working only every now and then. I found a website that instructed how to make a tester to determine if it was a fuel pump relay issue on the tipm. Sure enough we were able to determine that the relay was the issue. It certainly seems that I am one among many people that are having problems with the tipm. I hope that they recognize the severity of the problem and resolve it swiftly.
I had this van 2005 Caravan for about 5 years and past year I had 3 issues, one of them is that my lights turned off right in the middle of highway and it was very scary , I fixed it by replacing the light switch and now is ok but it should be looked into becouse there is more incidents of that type on other Caravans as I can see, second is my airbag sensor light comes ,stays ,goes away and then comes back up as it wills ,I did not fix it since I dont know how to but will try to get it done as a recall, third one is my fuel pump is leaking at a same point where I saw pictures and complaints by other owners so I would like just to add my own complaint,I will replace my fuel pump since I doubt I can get recall in near future but hopefully keep the receipt if it gets approved so I can try to get my money back, thank you for your consideration.
Gasoline leak from fuel pump seal on top of gas tank or fuel line to fuel pump connection. Gas could be smelled from side and back of vehicle. It could easily cause fire. A recall seems to safe lives.
Cracked fuel pump housing leaking fuel by exhaust system.
Tipm is defective, fuel pump relay overheats resulting in engine stopping ,can result in loss of control of vehicle, this is a wheelchair van not a good situation,Chrysler replaced part under policy warrenty ,would not stand behind labor cost to replace, this should be their responsibility as it is a safety issue.
The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Caravan. While driving at approximately 60 mph, the engine stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that the air bag and cruise control warning indicators were illuminated continuously. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.

I have been smelling gasoline fumes which are becoming progressively worse. I will have it checked out tomorrow but my friend who is ase certified mechanic for 35 years said that it sounds like a fuel pump and housing unit problem. The smell is getting worse and worse and becomes overwhelming when I fill up my tank with gasoline. The fumes are making me ill. My friend told me that it would be expensive to replace.
Leaking gas caused by hair line crack in fuel pump.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 101,224. The VIN was not available. Kmj.
Twice now I have had to replace the fuel pump not due to the pump itself but the houseing cracks and causes a leak. At 54,000 and 130,000. Same problem caused a fuel leak. The second time the seal gave out completly in front of my childrens' school. The fuel tank emptied in the parking lot, had to have towed to a shop. Contacted Chrysler, they were of no help.
Within 30 mins. After picking up my van from the dealer (cerritos Dodge) for the fuel rail recall. I noticed the smell of gas,( I thought was o. K. Since fuel rail had just been replaced) and I looked at the dashboard and noticed gas gauge fluctuating moving back and forth, and smoke started. Coming from under hood. I called [xxx] (cerritos Dodge service dept. ) whom I had been talking to about my van when it was in shop. I called him to inform him about the gas/gauge. He told me to go to nearest gas station. I did. After that, I took car home, parked it for the remainder of that evening. The next day, same thing (smell of gas)and fluctuating gas gauge), within 15 minutes of driving to get oil changed, fuel bell started ringing. I called mr. Richardson, he said to bring van in, but. He didn't know if they would be able to check it out that day. At that point I was frustrated, because they had the van (3) days more than they promised. Bottom line, is van was again checked out, now he says its the fuel pump. Prior to the fuel rail breaking. I had no problems with my fuel system. I was informed of another recall with the fuel pump with the 1999 Dodge grand Caravan ( but, was told not with my model. ) that clearly is a form of biased discrimination. And, yet my 1999 van has the identical fuel system problems. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
My family began noticing a gas smell several months ago. It was more noticeable when exiting the vehicle and when in a closed garage. At first I thought it might be from some gas spill on fueling. I did not see any leaks on the ground or in the engine area. I just had the van serviced at the dealer and was told there was a gas leak. Upon closer inspection it appears there is a very slow leak (seepage) coming at the connection off the fuel pump and fuel line. This looks like a twist-off connection. The dealer told me it would cost $96/hr to pinpoint and diagnosis the exact problem. I just found another person on the web with the exact same complaint. I have not yet had an "exact diagnosis" or repair made.
Purchased vehicle in April of 08 and in August of 08 it would not turn on while I was picking my daughter up from school. I took it in to the dealership but they couldn't find the problem. The same think happened twice in November and again in December, again they couldn't find the problem. In April of 09 it stalled again at a ball game while it was raining and thundering and I had my 5 and 1 year old with me. I called the dealership to get it towed so they could find the problem. Two days later they call me and say it was the fuel pump. I told them to check my brakes because I had heard them squeak that morning. They call that the rotors and pads are completely worn and they wouldn't let me drive it off the lot because it was unsafe. My vehicle only had 25,000 miles on it. My previous vehicle had 91,000 miles on it when I traded it in and rotors and pads had never been replaced. Now 8000 miles later, my back pads need to be replaced. They are worn uneven and I was told my front pads will need to be replaced within the next 8,000-10,000 miles.

9/8/2008 I was traveling on ir80 & I must of swerved a bit & the van struck a dot paddle marker @ humboldt mile marker 45 in nevada. The van became engulfed in flames & overturned sideways at least 4 times. My mother & father parrished as a result of this accident, burned so much they couldn't recognize their gender. My wife & I escaped with her getting severely burned about 76% & I about 68%, we was transported to humboltd hospital then air transported to u of u burn center salt lake city utah where she spent about 7 months in ccu burn unit & I about 3 months. The marker post was uprooted & struck the undercarriage of the van & detached the fuel line then punctured the cross member & depositing the fuel line in the hole the fire started then we overturned with a series of explosions. A mechanic explained the severed fuel line was a return line from the evap. Canister to the fuel tank & that the fuel system stayed at 49 psi being fed by an electric fuel pump I remember driving speaking with my father, my wife & mom was sleeping in the back seat then I woke up on fire trying to escape the wreakage, I hollered @ my wife & I rolled out of the van. My wife checked mom she was dead then another explosion blew my wife to the front seat between where my dad & I sat, she grabbed dad but he wouldn't come cause of mom. Two people moved my wife after my father shoved her out. I started back to the van when another explosion engulfed my father. I dropped to my knees & told a bystander I just killed my mother & father. My children & family hired a big time lawyer & it was looking good until Chrysler filed for bankruptcy & cleared them from all lawsuits prior to their bankruptcy. My lawyer had to walk away with a $30,000 loss, she was 44 & I was 48 years old prime time of our life we still battle health issues from the burns & never got a red cent from Chrysler.

Vehicle would stall after every fuel fill up at stop lights or slowing down to park. Now vehicle stalls at highway speeds and loses all power. I brought it back to Dodge dealer when it was new and they said there was nothing wrong. Now after doing research online people are having there fuel tanks replaced because of a roll over valve that's a permanent part of the fuel tank. After each fill the roll over cuts fuel off from the fuel pump causing the car to stall. The dealer wants almost $1200. 00 dollars for the part plus $500. 00 dollars labor. This problem has been going on with other Dodge vehicle's having the same problem and they were recalled and fuel tanks replaced. I feel that this is a very serious issue that should be addressed. Thank you.

While driving 35 mph the engine stall without warning. Vehicle has been to two separate dealers, and both confirmed that the problem was the fuel pump module.
