Speed Control Cable Problems of Dodge Caravan

I have nothing but trouble out when you get she where and it get hot and don't what to start back but it doesn't over heat or nothing and it will just shift down when u are driving 70 miles hour it hard to shift and the air bag light go flashlight on and off all the time when you are driving down the road u can be driving and for know reason the engine light comes on and it will shut down we had it check it doesn't give any codes at all when this happens u got to take the battery cable off and reset every time it happens.

My wife was on the highway passing another car when the accelerator pedal of her 2005 Dodge Caravan se suddenly dropped to the floor. She barely got off the road without causing an accident and was sure if it would have happened on a busier highway she would have caused an accident. She was stranded along the highway for two hours waiting for help. She was towed to a Dodge dealer who told her the little plastic retainer which secures the throttle cable going from the accelerator to the engine had broke and they consequently fixed it. It is part#4287736 retainer. After looking at this little plastic retainer I feel it is a safety hazard and should be redesigned and made out of steel or something that won't break as easily. I think it should be investigated as a safety hazard.

Consumer received recalls 04e036000 and 04e035000 on vehicle that was modified. Had taken it on appointed date to a certified dealer of modified vehicles, ability center-macy's liftgate, for repairs. Upon arriving was informed not able to do recall repairs due to vehicle being modified by another company. Also, consumer was told not to drive vehicle from manufacturer's general manager. In addition, was informed by manufacturer to take vehicle back to original dealership for the correction.

My accelerator stuck in my 98 Dodge Caravan. The throttle cable was frayed badly. The tow truck driver mentioned he towed about 50 Dodge Caravans in the last year with the same problem. The dealer where we got the part had "heard complaints about the accelerator. " since this vehicle is the best selling Mini van and moms, dads and usually a load of kids are in the back, this problem needs to be investigated and determine whether a recall is warrented.
