Speed Control Linkage Problems of Dodge Caravan

While driving on interstate at 55 mph vehcile would not stop accelerating, even with foot off gas pedal, vehcile kept accelerating. Took vehicle to mechanic, and he said that open portion on accelerator cable was exposed. One of them were in a bind which caused it to wear, and worn accelerator won't go back down, only way to stop was to unhook everything. Then there was no acceleration. The only way to stop the accelerating veheicle was to turn off the engine.

While driving at high speeds for 65mph the throttle cable gets stuck and tangled which causes the wires to fray and break apart, resulting in sudden acceleration. Please provide further information.

Consumer had cruise control set at 70mph. Tapped on brakes & hit the on/off switch to disengage cruise control. Vehicle kept on accelerating. Finally vehicle stopped. Dealer service representative came out to look at vehicle & found that cruise control cable was jammed, so disconnected it to allow owner to continue trip. Consumer wrote letter to manufacturer.

When putting vehicle in gear and leaving gas station the engine acted as though the accelerator pedal was stuck to the floor, vehicle accelerated extremely fast and would not stop until it hit a concrete post. Vehicle is being repaired at a body shop.

2003 Dodge Caravan accelerator became stuck wide open. The dealer explained to the consumer that the warranty would not cover the problem because the linkage had bee compromised due to varnish. They indicated that this could has result from bad gas or an unclean air filter.

Consumer was sitting with vehicle running, letting it warm up. When consumer applied the brakes to place into gear, vehicle launged forward with a sudden burst of acceleration. To stop vehicle, the engine had to be turned off while it was moving. Dealer has been contacted.
