The left hand strut tower on my 1999 Dodge Caravan has almost rusted through and I was told by mechanic that it is not safe to drive. Local Dodge dealer said this is not covered under any warranty or recall and that it's only a comestic problem. They want $2200 to repair which is more than value of vehicle. Everything I have read indicates this is absolutely a safety issue and would cause a crash if driving when the strut tower completely fails. Why is there not a recall for this well known and docemented safety problem?.

Not a "failure" yet but my 2000 Dodge Caravan has serious rusting through the top of the drivers side strut tower which at some time I can envision the strut tearing up and through the hood. I believe this to be a structural defect not a "cosmetic" defect which Chrysler claims.

Driver's side strut tower has rust, which eventually could result in suspension-strut failure and loss of control while driving. Pictures available.
The consumer took the vehicle in for leakage under the motor. However, he found that the housing was broken.
While vehicle was being service and the technician noticed the left strut body has a crack and frame was rusted due to this problem. Please provide further information.
Vehicle's sub frame cracked which caused brakes to have an extended stopping distance.

I recently became aware of your services so that is why this is written way after the fact. May problem is that I own a 97 Dodge Caravan, at the time it had appox. 80,000 miles. The front passenger side wheel well that holds the strat rotted to the point that the strat was coming through. I called Dodge and they said that part of the body wasn't warranted against rust through. I thought it was odd that the doors and hood was but not the under part. I had the repairs done for $900 and now the driver side is about to do the same. What is ironic is that the body ie doors and quarter panels are fine. Is there a problem with this particular part of the car and if so do I have any recourse. Thank you for your time.
