I check my menu for any problems but the system said ok but after I got home and turned the car off and then back on the system said warning contact dealer. This is dangerous to have a call stall suddenly. I did see on the web that NHTSA has noted there is problems with srt8 (v8) and a warranty issue with the gas tank needing to be replace. 18 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/08/2016

I own a 2012 Dodge Challenger srt 8. Chrysler issued 2 tsbs in 2014 about the engine timing chain guide possibly fracturing, causing the timing chain to break, and resulting in severe engine damage. Chrysler will pay for the engine damage if the chain breaks if it occurs under warranty. But, they will not pay to replace the guide to prevent the chain from breaking. These two tsbs, numbers csn-p-01 and 09-po-11-82, affect 2009 ¿ 2012 Chrysler 300s, and Dodge chargers and Challengers. The second TSB says it affects a "numerous amount of vehicles'. A Dodge service advisor advised the out-of-pocket cost to replace the guide is around $2000. My contention is that this issue should be a safety recall, not a TSB. The reason is that when the timing chain breaks, the vehicle is going to stall. This could very easily result in a serious crash if the vehicle stalls in the second or third lane of a busy 4 lane interstate during rush hour. The driver may not be able to get the vehicle over to either the left or right shoulder before the vehicle stops, and it would be dangerous for the driver to try to run from the vehicle to a shoulder. In 2015, Chrysler issued a recall on certain 2011 ¿ 2014 Chrysler vehicles because the alternator may suddenly fail. It states, ¿if the alternator fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. ¿ so, if Chrysler issued a recall because an alternator may fail, causing the vehicle to stall, and increasing the risk of a crash, I don¿t understand why the problem with the timing chain breaking due to a guide that may fracture, which would also cause the vehicle to stall, has resulted in only tsbs being issued and not a safety recall. The only reason I can think of is the cost of to the manufacturer to reimburse the dealerships for replacing an alternator vs. Replacing a timing chain guide.

I own a 2015 Dodge Challenger. While driving various speeds the vehicle will randomly stall and display "come to a complete stop and select the appropriate gear. " this has happened 10-15 times. I have taken the vehicle to a Dodge dealership 3 times. On the second visit they replaced the transmission and valve body. I left the dealership and was only 4 blocks away and the vehicle stalled and displayed the same error. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and they say they cannot duplicate what is happening, so they don't know how to troubleshoot the problem. This started happening at approximately 16,000 miles.

My 2010 Dodge Challenger rt will stall when making a slow right hand turn, which in turn the vehicle loses power steering and power brakes. This has happened four times in the last three years. 26 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 02/05/2015

Alternator failure (documented recall) caused the vehicle to stall and lose all power. Lucky this was at low speed on a surface street vs. Highway speed and interstate. Was able to coast vehicle to a side street however blocking one lane of travel. Vehicle would not start nor shift to neutral and the hazard lights would not function it was completely dead. Had vehicle towed to dealer for repair. Dealer installed a new alternator subject to the same recall and stated that the proper replacement is on back order as well refused to pay towing (cost incurred due to a failed component under recall) stated they were doing us a favor by not having to pay for the repair and providing a rental car. This is a serious issue that will cause a crash and or fatality if this happens at highway speed or on any busy thoroughfare. It is unacceptable to replace a failed part with another part subject to the same recall. Another solution needs to be available other than subjecting owners of these vehicles to continued serious safety risk while awaiting back ordered parts. There are alternate replacements that could be obtained by Dodge vs. Having the oem of the alternator cover the entire recall cost. This is a Dodge issue to its consumers however Dodge pursues recouping its costs is its own issue. They are blatantly putting cost above safety and not accommodating owners to defer cost. Keeping a vehicle in operation with this serious of an issue will be disastrous at some point. Many owners have no alternative but to operate the vehicles with the issue given their financial situation. Impacted owners should have costs of mitigating the risk such as a long term rental car deferred by Dodge while awaiting an appropriate repair/replacement of the recalled part given the seriousness of the safety risks involved.

27 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 02/01/2015

High speed/acceleration/and casual speed stalling. Freeway speed causes stalling/buckling hesitation, the engine light will go on, and the car will continue to reduce speed until it is stopped/off. After a short time (up to two days), the engine light will go off before I get to the service center, which leads to the dealership telling me "if we cannot re- create the problem, then we cannot fix it. " the problem has happened over 10 times, and has now progressed to happened with a casual/ or isle speed as well. The level of severity has also increased as well as the time frame of the stalling.

32 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/19/2014

I was driving my car on 7/19/2014 as normal and I noticed several drivers from other cars pointing at my hood. There were no dash indicator lights on . I pulled over and the car powered down and smoke started billowing through the vents and from under the hood. I released the hood and noticed the alternator smoking heavily and melting, I thought it was about to catch fire. I had the car towed to the dealership and was told 4 days later the alternator had to be replaced, not covered under warranty; due to it being considered an accessory; would cost 723. 00 to repair. Being that the car only has 44,000 miles on it, I was very disturbed. My car was ready in about 4 days which I went ahead and paid for repairs as I need the car for transportation and even after I saw the countless reports of similar incidents on the internet and was appalled this part had not been recalled. I figured most cars have to have at least one major repair so I'm good for awhile. Wrong! the same week the car got out of the shop, I started hearing a clicking under the gear shift and the abs, esp and traction came on the dash. I contacted the dealership to make an appointment to bring it in but it isn't until a week later. I was told as long as the light doesnt steadily remain on, I should be fine until my appointment driving it. Today I was riding along on a highway and the car begin to lose power not allowing me to accelerate or steer, now the malfunction light is on. Dodge really needs to consider recalling this model as problems start to occur at 40,000 miles from what I have read and can cause serious safety issues because it stalls with the indicator lights following leaving consumers with the inability to steer or get out of the dangers of incoming traffic.

33 Car Stall problem of the 2009 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 11/10/2013

The vehicle caught on fire while driving. The fire started in the right front side of the engine compartment and quickly consumed the vehicle completely. The vehicle was not presenting any problems before the incident and no warning lights came on. The vehicle stalled and caught on fire. It was extremely difficult to come out of the vehicle. The estimated travel time before the accident was approximately 45 minutes. One important fact is that the vehicle received a service at the local dealership flagship Chrysler of toa baja pr 00949 under service order # 129395. The service included a 20 point inspection, the change of fluids to include transmission, differential, power steering, service the injectors, and efi throttle system. The dealership released the vehicle from the service department on 4 Nov 2013 and caught on fire on 10 Nov 2013.

34 Car Stall problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger

Failure Date: 07/07/2013

While coming around a sharp left bend in the road of a winding road my car stalled and I had a very hard time steering and braking to get the car to a complete stop. I was very lucky that I didn't end up in the ditch and also very lucky that the driver behind me was alert and did not crash into the back of my car. I restarted my car and it seemed to be ok. I have had my car for sometime and this is the first time I have ever had a problem with it. Doing research on the internet I found numerous other postings about this same problem, but there have been no recalls or service bulletins about it.

35 Car Stall problem of the 2010 Dodge Challenger
