Car Stall Problems of Dodge Challenger - part 2

My 2010 Dodge Challenger r/t roughly sat for 2-3 winter months, driven 2-3 times during that period. While starting it up in February the car started then stalled out. I turned the key back to off and then restarted the car. I was getting on to the highway making a right turn. After completing the turn, merging on the highway about 35-40mph the car stalled and I had to pull off to the side of the road. I restarted and continued to drive as normal for the rest of the day. On Friday March 29th 2013, I started the car and it stalled again. I restarted the car and went on my way to work. I was merging from one highway to another doing about 40-45mph on the onramp when the car stalled again. Luckily I was able to pull off to the median while 3 cars almost rear ended me since I had no power to the vehicle. I put it in park, restarted the car and went on my way. That same morning, I was going south bound on the high way in the middle of mourning rush hour traffic into the city. I was going between 65-75mph in heavy traffic in the high speed lane and the car stalled again and lost all power to the vehicle. After coasting for about 100 yards the car somehow restarted, power came back and I continued to work that morning. I have taken the care to the local Dodge dealership as of 3/31 and is being looked at to find the issue.

I was driving normally getting ready to pull up at a stop sign to make a right turn. Then all of a sudden the car stalls while moving. Power steering goes out and the oil pressure light comes on. I had to put the car in park and restart it and everything was fine no lights or nothing. This problem needs to be fixed it has happen to many people. Lawsuit is what's gone end up if this problem isn't corrected.

While making a slow right turn at approximately 25 mph my vehicle stalled. The engine completely died and the oil light came on. The steering and brakes also did not function. I had to restart the car to regain control. It started back up right away as if nothing happened. Although I do not remember the exact dates this has happened to me about 4 previous times. The dealership has no answers and they assume nothing is wrong because it doesn't show up on their diagnostic computer. If someone had been behind me or in front of me there would have been an accident. Eventually, there likely will be. A recall needs to be issued on this problem and a solution must be found ASAP. According to numerous reports, this has happened repeatedly with 2010 Dodge Challengers.

The vehicle stalled after braking at around 15 mph. The vehicle was able to be restarted, but unable to shift into gear. As mentioned by many others, this is a severe safety risk and needs to be looked into. My vehicle was towed to dealer and an ecm flash was conducted, but I am afraid of this issue reoccuring like so many others.

This is 4th or 5th time this issue has happened, have brought it to the dealer and they have come up with nothing. There are several complaints on NHTSA about this issue, as well as thousands online, yet the dealer states they are unaware of the issue. Normal driving conditions, slowing down to make a turn and the vehicle completely shuts off and I lose power steering and power braking. The car becomes very hard to maneuver and stop. The car was stopped in an intersection, and thankfully the approaching cars were far enough away to slow down and stop. I then put the car in park and start it up and drive off with no other issues. This intermittent stalling is becoming a very dangerous issue and should be looked into further before someone is seriously injured, if they haven't been already.

My wife was driving the vehicle at highway speeds down an expressway. She exited and was applying the brakes as she approached a stop sign. As the vehicle slowed down to about 15 mph, the car abruptly shut off, without any warning whatsoever. When the car stalled, it became difficult to steer and brake, as the power steering and brakes were no longer functional. In order to restart the vehicle, she had to come to a complete stop, place the transmission in park, and then hit the start button. This was very dangerous, as there were other motorists exiting the expressway behind her. I took the car to my local Dodge dealership and just as other Challenger owners have experienced, they were unable to duplicate the problem. They also acted as though they have never heard of the problem, even though many documented cases exist. I called Chrysler customer care, and like the dealership, they refused to help. I spoke with two different representatives, and both of them claimed to know nothing about the Challenger stalling issue, and refused to transfer me to another department that might be willing to investigate. This is a very dangerous problem and appears to be very common with this particular car. Chrysler needs to address this issue before someone is hurt or killed.

I bought a 2010 srt8 Dodge Challenger a few weeks ago with just 50 miles on it. I now have approximately 800. On my way home from the dealer, the car stalled twice, both times while coming to a stop. The same thing happened yesterday and today, making it 4 times in less than a month. Similar to others, my dealer said there was no evidence of the stalling in their diagnostics. 3 out of the 4 times I was in traffic, with the other time occurring in a parking lot. There was no warning when it happened. After each stall, I had to put the gear in park and restart. The motor starts with no hesitation after a stall. There are dozens of complaints. Who is going to do something before someone is injured or killed? currently, I feel the care is too unsafe to have my wife and kids in the car while driving.

My 2009 Challenger has stalled twice when making a right-hand turn. 4/11/11 - I was driving between 30-35 mph. I started braking so I could turn right into my office parking lot. As I started to turn right, the engine just turned off - there were no idiot lights on the dash. I restarted the car, but I could not get it to move - drive would not work - reverse would not work - still no idiot lights on the dash. I turned the car off and restarted it again - and was able to drive the car. 7/27/11 - same right-hand turn - I was driving between 30-35 mph. I started breaking so I could turn right into my office parking lot. As I started to turn right, the engine just turned off - there were no idiot lights on the dash. I restarted the car and was able to drive the car with no problems. Gas gauge showed a little above one-quarter. There were 16,630 miles on car on 7/27/11. My husband's 2010 Challenger with low mileage, has stalled twice - most recently on 7/25/12.

Car periodically stalls when coming to a stop. Dealer does not know the cause- may be computer-related. Friends having the same Dodge vehicle have had their car stall in heavy high speed traffic. This could cause a serious or fatal crash.

Once it happened while making a right turn into a parking spot and the other 2 times it has occurred on the road when slowing down to stop at a red light. Oil light came on in one of the instances but I am unsure if it came on the other two. With complete loss of power this makes the car difficult to steer. On all three occasions, the car did start back up with the push button start, however it did crank over very slowly. Car is going into the dealership tomorrow to evaluate this, however it appears that with other people who have have this happen, the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. This is extremely dangerous and hopefully this can be remedied before anyone is seriously injured or worse.

If Chrysler was notified of the problems I have had with this car, they would remember it from 3 days after I purchased it from westpointe Dodge in oklahoma. I had problems from day one, mainly from the lies I was told at the dealership, I bought it new! I was told of all the extras on this vehicle including a navagation system, I tried to get the navagation system to work, no luck. I called them and they told me to bring it back, probably just didn't have the navagation system hooked up. I took it back, they said it had one, then looked and checked and on and on, then said no navagation system, they installed an after market mirror so I would have something to tell me what directions I was going. That was not the end there. I sent 10 pages of notes to Chrysler explaining all the problems I had with the vehicle. They gave me free oil changes. Now, in March, the car started having problems starting, it would die after running rough, then after 2-3 tries it would start. I took it to the dealership on may 1st, they said they could not find a problem, probably just bad gas, I had got it back 2 days later. The next day, it would not start, after a few more tries it did start. I called the dealership and took it back to them on may 6th. I called them may 7th, said they thought they found the problem and changed something. I called them yesterday and they said it still had the problem and they had contacted Chrysler to see if they could help find the problem. The dealership called today and said they "think" they have it fixed, but will need to wait until Monday and start it again to see if it is fixed. This is a vehicle with less that 20 thousand miles. I can only hope than if and when I get it back,I don't have any more problems.

Vehicle only has 3,000 miles on it and it has stalled at least 10 different times. Dodge took car in and had no solution to problem other than replacing or updating latest software updates. After that was done car still has the same problem. Car has to be put in park then restarted. Sometimes twice before vehicle will move.

In 2009 I purchased a Dodge Challenger srt 8. Since I have had the vehicle it has stalled many times. Every time it's when I slow down and make a left or right turn. While turning the vehicle stalls and you loose steering and brakes. Last incident was earlier this week, my wife slowed down to make a left turn into our subdivision and he vehicle stalled in the oncoming lane and she was almost struck. She had to put the vehicle in neutral and restart the vehicle to exit the roadway. I have called the dealership many times and they say there's nothing wrong with the vehicle. I looked online for a fix and there doesn't seem to be any, although there are a lot of Dodge vehicle owners with this problem.
