I was driving on the interstate going approximately 70-75 mph in my 2010 Dodge Challenger r/t (auto transmission). The cylinders deactivated from 8 to 4 and then I heard a loud rattling noise and my car lost power. The lights on the dash came on and the car rolled to the side of the interstate. I tried starting the car again but the engine would not turn. I got the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership and they stated that the timing chain broke. My car only had 78,000 miles so a broken timing chain seems unusual. My maintenance has be very good on this car and nothing indicated a problem with the timing chain prior to my car breaking down.
