My 2014 Dodge Challenger over heated while I was driving. I pulled over and filled the reservoir with antifreeze. I drove less than a mile down the road and it over heated again. When I checked the reservoir it was empty. So I pulled over and called a tow truck to take it to the mechanic. The mechanic determined that I need to have the oil filter/ oil cooler adapter housing, intake manifold gasket replaced. This will cost me $788. The part I need is on back order from the manufacturer. In fact there are over 34,000 of this particular part on back order because this is such a common issue with Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge cars. He was shocked that this part had not been recalled yet. Please let me know when this part is recalled. If I pay out of pocket to fix this very common engine issue, will I get reimbursed once it is recalled?.

This is my 2nd Dodge challenge I've owned. My first one was a 2017 r/t. The reason I mention this is because its the same issue I had with the other one. I keep up with all the maintance and take care of my cars. The problem from what I've been told is the exhaust manifold and there's also a knocking sound coming from the engine. Its exactly like the first one I had and traded in. I couldn't get it fixed because its not covered in the factory warranty or in the extended warranties I bought. So I don't know what to do and Dodge wants me to pay hundreds just to look at it which I shouldn't have to do with a car that has less than 30,000 miles on it and its something that I feel and believe is their fault. I know I'm not the only one because every mechanic, oil changers I've gone too I ask them about it and they tell me so many of their customers complain about the same thing. I hope you can help. Thanks.

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Challenger. While driving approximately 15 mph and attempting to make a left turn, the vehicle stalled. All the warning indicators were illuminated. The contact coasted to the side of the road and called roadside assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that water entered the engine manifold trough the cold air intake, located six inches from the ground. The failure was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
