general problems of the 2006 Dodge Charger - part 1

I was almost rear-ended by a semi when the vehicle stalled at a light while picking my son up from work. It seems to stall at stop signs or waiting at lights completely. It stalls while idling here and there sometimes. Sometimes when driving on the e-way it jerks as it wants to stall but not completely. The main codes that pop up is u0100. Sometimes p0700 pops up and then sometimes the u0100 pops up along with a bunch of other codes. This has just started happening with my previous 2006 Dodge Charger 5. 7 which has happened once or twice and a u0100 code pops up when scanned. I've scoured the internet for solutions and notice. There's a lot of people going through this similar situation and it so happens to be the 2006 year that's plagued with this problem. Even getting a new pcm doesn't solve the problem. Whomever is in charge of the Dodge company needs to figure out the exact cause of this problem before a driver/passengers gets injured or killed in an accident because of it. Please put some fire under their butt.

My 2006 Dodge Charger stalls after refueling, and now stutters when driving as if not getting fuel. I have noticed when attempting to break and stopping at stops this is happening more often. The car shuts down and could cause a accident. After researching this issue I found that this has been addressed already under investigation number pe13-016 by the NHTSA.

When I refuel start out in highway car stalls almost results in getting rear ended I found Dodge knew about this but I did not get recall I bought car new this just started bout 12 months ago car only has around 65000 miles on it . It happened today 3/20/24.

When I fill my car with gasoline, it starts to putter and shuts off. I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel transfer unit over 4 times since I have owned this vehicle. I had the same issue with my Chrysler 300. It is very frustrating and cost full. I just dropped my car at the shop to be looked at again. I just had a fuel/transfer pump done less than a year ago.

After filling up with gas my car stalled 3 times within 30 minutes. One time while making a turn and my power steering locked up almost making me crash, another time at a red light and also while idling in my driveway.

I fuel my car up and it stalls and I can't controll where I am going, this is happening more and more. Almost got hit from behind.

The fuel tank with this car have issues when filled up. This issue started about 3-4 years ago. The gas tank haven't been inspected but I've changed literally every component associated with the fueling system. I wish I would've done research before hand and would've just saved money and known that there are issues with the fuel tank. The car when filled up or sometimes just putting a little gas it will either sputter or shut off. No check engine light comes on or nothing. However after doing research I found out that my VIN isn't in the recall listing. This makes absolutely no sense for the investigation into a broader VIN listing to be closed with the amount of complaints these year model cars fuel tank.

Valve in the top of the tank to release vapor through the purge system is stuck open allowing fuel in the system, is available for inspection. Car stalls while driving and at stops, stalled infront of ambulance. Has not been reproduced of confirmed by dealer, but it has happened everytime I fully refuel the car. Has not been inspected. No symptoms or warnings prior to issue occurring.

After filling up with gas car shut off 1/2 mile causing loss of power steering. Restarted and did the same thing about 1/2 mile again.

After filling up my gas tank I went to start driving again and my vehicle stalled out. It did this several more times.

When you fill the gas tank the vehicle cuts off and stalls in the middle of traffic and cannot restart. This has happened every time the tank was filled. Multiple times and every time.

Every time I get gas, my Charger stalls at stops and while driving. Not good!!! I have had several close calls! I do not top off and I always use premium. Something has to be done this is not safe for anyone on the road.

On 3/10/2023 my vehicle suddenly starting trembling and shaking profusely! it terrified me severely. I immediately called my mechanic and it was towed in to be repaired. I was told it needed a tune- up. Towing, 3-direct ignition coils replaced, 6-spark plugs replaced and 1- fuel injection plenum gasket set replaced. Four weeks later on 4/16/2023 a warning sign of a backwards meeting parenthesis with a lightening bolt between to the two backwards parenthesis showed up on my warning lamp-electronic throttle control (etc) indicator symbol; causing my vehicle on shake, jump and stall as I was driving on 29s heading toward 70w towards baltimore to get home. I was able to drive to side of the road and my car completely stopped. A the horrific sounds of the traffic wizzed by me and my 12 year old child, I immediately called aaa, as we were in danger and severely terrified. We were finally picked up after 3 long hours!!!!! my car was the towed up the street from my home because the huge tow truck was unable to get directly in front of my door at that late hour. As I called aaa back the next morning to have my car towed to my mechanic shop, I was told I could only get 1 tow/ breakdown. I was totally in disbelieve after all we endured the evening/ night before. After explaining to a supervisor at aaa, she agreed that we had such a horrible experience the night before and adjusted the policy to accommodate my vehicle to be towed to my mechanic for repairs. This time, my fuel pump needed to be replaced and it has been. My vehicle still feels hesitate in its acceleration and as of today my engine light is on on my warning panel. I have been contacted by a nhts recall team agent and have been scheduled for an appt.

Usually after I fill my car up with premium gas and start to drive it around it will stall out of nowhere especially when stopped or low idle.

Car will stall and not start after filling with gas. After awhile car will run but shut off randomly. This can happen while driving. Car has been stuck at intersections and will stall even doing highway speeds. All lights will appear on dash engine car will lose all power. Small ding before it dies.

After filling up the car with fuel (93 octane) the car stalls after a couple of minutes. This has caused unsafe situations as the car has stalled in the middle of intersections and on the road. This has happened consistently after filling up. The car does not start immediately after stalling. After a couple of minutes post stall, I am able to restart the car. At times, the car studders while moving. This all happens after topping off with fuel. The vehicle has approximately 106,000 miles.

Engine stalled while driving 3-5 times. Almost caused a collision.

I've owned this car a little over a month. I filled up the gas tank today, after leaving the gas station the car stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. Thankfully no one was coming the opposite direction at the time before I could get the car restarted. At the next light it stalled again, and then was able to restart the car. I was able to pull into a parking lot to access any issues. Nothing looked wrong visibly. While idling the car stalled again. I researched the issue and found other similar issues with this year and make of the car stalling after filling the tank. This is a huge safety issue as there was no warning and the car completely stalled and had no function. If cars were coming at me in the intersection or I was on the highway which was the next exit, it could have been worse for me and others on the road.

My 2006 Dodge Charger has approximately 51,000 miles on it. Last fall when I filled it up with gas and left the station to go home, my car stalled 5 times on a very busy road just trying to go home. It always restarted. It now does the same thing every time I fill it up with gas. It will either stall once I leave the station (sometimes multiple times) or jerk back and forth when trying to drive it. So far it has always restarted, but I am very concerned about my safety if it happens to stall when driving or turning at an intersection and there is an accident because of it. I understand that their is a lifetime warranty on this problem on these vehicles (extended warranty x53); and I would like to get this problem taken care of before I get in an accident. I have read up on this problem on Dodge forums and will be calling Dodge in the next few days to see about having this problem taken care of. This is a definite safety issue and needs to be handled ASAP.

Since owning this car everytime I fill up the gas (not over filling) or even going above 7/8 of a tank, my car stalls 3-10 times and chuggs while driving. I have already replaced the purge valve with no luck. After doing much research it has come to my attention that there has been a recall on cars just like mine. But when I look up my VIN it says no recall available. I am terrified to drive my car after putting gas in because I don't want to get into an accident.

The failing component is the same one that only "some" 2006 Dodge Chargers were covered. Even though my failed parts match the failed parts of the recall, I don't qualify because Chrysler didn't pick my VIN as one to replace. So after filling my vehilce with gas I went to turn and in the middle of the intersection my car shut off and all systems went down, meaning I lost power steering and the engine stalled. It would not restart. Four people nearly died, because we were almost hit by a gravel train truck. In the middle of the intersection, and could do nothing. . If you win the Chrysler VIN lotterey, yours gets fixed and if you don't have that VIN, too bad for you. So I have a car that has the potential to kill many people because. Of a known safety issue that Chrysler fixed on some cars but not all cars. Nhtsa allows a huge safety problem as one that impacts the entire operation of the vehicle to still be on the road without the recall applying to it? one second difference and I and 3 occupants would have been dead. One second. No warning lights, no codes, the problem has been seen by every dealer in the USA according to the technicians that looked at my car. They said it's sad that money means more to Chrysler than safety. It first started happening just a few weeks ago, I only drive in the summer with this car, so it is low miles also. According to the recall the fuel tank and it's system fail. Quote from Chrysler " a condition where the fuel shut-off float, in the multifunction control valve sticks, which may result in the vehicle stalling after fueling. " according to the dealer, my part numbers match the recall, just not my VIN.

Car continues to stall at low speed, stop sign, light, etc. Im very cautious when I turn onto traffic for fear of car stalling and me getting hit. Had it to numerous mechanics and no one can pin point it. Usually stalls out 5-10 times on way to and from work everyday. I live about 4 miles from my job.

After filling fuel to proper level the vehicle shakes and as car continues to drive at normal speeds car shuts down and loses steering and power. This may be related to the fuel tank issue these have with the built in valves. The fuel pump works just fine so I know its not that. Again symptoms only happen when filling the gas tank to full which is the proper level. I don't understand why this car was not recalled along with the rest. Although I'm starting to be really hesitant of ever buying any Dodge or Chrysler vehicle again.

My car randomly cuts off at times while I'm driving. I don't know what the problem is. It seems that most mechanics can pinpoint the issue. It has happened on numerous occasions.

1-fuel system after filling up will choke itself out at slow speeds or idling-2-engine cuts out going 40-80 mph jerks and cuts off and back on sometimes engine light comes on and other times not 3- issues with turning car completely off have to put back into gear then park again to turn off 4- at times when putting into park my brake light comes on. I thought I did good on this car but now I'm beginning to think I'm in over my head all of this happens on average every other day. One or all things happen intermediate.

Car stalls after fill up. Pull into traffic and you lose steering breaks ect. Need to put in park to restart. Will continue and miss and stall for about 5 miles. Once you run some fuel out of the car it runs exceptional until the next fill up.

Bought the 2006 Dodge Charger. We filled with gas a couple miles from the dealer. When leaving the gas station the car stalled in front of oncoming traffic. Thankfully, the other drivers avoided hitting us until we got it restarted. Then at highway speed the car again started bucking and choking. Research online shows this to be a common issue with this vehicle. This is a dangerous problem that concerns me greatly!.

After refueling the car stalls after moving maybe 20 feet. It takes a while to start back up but stalls again while moving on the highway/road.

Car will run fine one day next day it won't, car cuts off when stopping an stop sign or light. Car jerks when pressing gas pedal too hard, gas odors coming from muffler.
