6 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 07/28/2014

My car was using way too much gas compared to what it used to and was running poorly so I took it in for a tune up. The filters, plugs, fluids, etc. Were done. About two weeks after the tune up I began to have trouble. At first I thought it was the shop that had done the tune up but after reading hundreds of letters from other people, I know now that it is the car. This is what happens: when I began to accelerate after stopping at stop sign, my car lost all power and died within two blocks of the stop sign. The car started up and seemed fine. Approximately a week and a half later, again, I was accelerating from a stop sign and the car stalled about 4 blocks from the stop sign. This continued to happen intermittently until september15, 2014, when the car died when I was approaching the stop sign and had to be towed. I have 5 grandchildren that I transport daily and this car is just not safe to do so anymore. Thank goodness I have not gone out of town with a car load of children and have this happen.

8 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 02/02/2014

After fueling my Dodge Charger, I drove down the road from the gas station and my car stalled. It started a few attempts later. This is the 5th time it has occurred.

9 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 02/02/2014

I have a 2006 Dodge Charger srt-8, after a fill-up at the gas station today  as I proceeded out of the gas station I noticed my car started to sputter as I was coming across a bridge. As I came off the bridge my car started to sputter even more and finally as I stopped at a red light the car just stalled.   I re cranked the car not sure of what was going on and proceeded down to my military installation gate entrance. As I approach the gate guard the car just stalls again right in the middle of morning traffic.   this was very dangerous especially having a stalled car at the entrance of a military base.   I recranked the car again and proceeded to workâ  and as I was going to park the car it just shut off in the parking lot. This seems to be a safety related problems and deserves  a true investigation. This problem seems to be unpredictable so I will not drive the car with my children in it anymore;  I do not feel like the car is safe.

10 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 01/28/2014

The car suddenly stalled and engine turned off. The steering was locked and was unable to move. I was turning into my subdivision when suddenly this happened. I was probably around 5 mph. Luckily there was no car behind me. I was able to put the car in park and start it and drive home without issue. The second time it got stalled when the same day I had to take my son to one of his class. When I was stopped at the light, the car stalled. This time it took few tries to get the car started. Once it started, the rpm was fluctuating as if it was starving for fuel. Since other complains have references to this happening after filling up gas, I want to mentioned that I had filled the gas the day before and I must have drove 20 or so miles before this happened first time.

11 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 01/21/2014

After refueling, the car stalled out numerous ti ES while on a major highway. Very lucky that I wasn't hit.

12 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 01/18/2014

I have a 2006 Dodge daytona r/t Charger. In January of this year, with ~185k thousand miles on the car, it began stalling after fueling. The car will suddenly die and causes loss of power steering and brakes, and is often difficult to restart. This is causing extremely dangerous conditions, as it occurs when pulling out into traffic and/or moving through intersections. Because the car suddenly stalls, you are left in the middle of the street and at times, fast-moving traffic and unable to start the car to move it out of the way.

13 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

The car shut off completely while driving right after refueling and leaving the gas station. It shut off 3 more times after that.

14 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 01/03/2014

The car stalled just after fueling when attempting to cross a busy road. I was luck that I was able to restart after a few trys and get out of the way of on coming traffic. The car stalled two more times within one mile. Each time, I blocked traffic. I have read that this is a common problem with my vehicle. The car was towed to a dealer since I did not feel safe driving it any longer.

15 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

After re-fueling at a local gas station I came to a stop at a traffic signal light. When the light turned green the car stalled. I placed the car in park and it restarted. This also occurred several months ago and I experienced the same scenario each time after re-fueling my vehicle.

16 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 12/18/2013

Refilled with fuel and as I was pulling out on to the street the car stalled. I restarted and began to drive. It stalled a 2nd time. After I got it started again it seemed ok. Every since then, every time I fill up it stalls out. I have to sit in the gas station lot and let it run until it stalls out. I afraid to drive on the street as I might get into an accident. After it stalls out a couple of time in the gas station lot, it doesn't do it again until I fill up again.

17 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 12/18/2013

When temps. Were cold less than 25 degress the accelerator would would stick at 4,000 rpm. I could put my foot under the gas pedal and lift it up to a normal idle. The throttle is electronically controlled. Here in michigan with more than 90" of snow this season an accident was waiting to happen, very unsafe. I told the dealer what was wrong and I expected a repair $495. 00 parts and labor. I called Chrysler customer service 4 days of conversation got me nowhere. I paid a $99. 50 for diagnoses and took it elsewhere. The gas pedal assembly was replaced. Apon a under hood inspection the connector that plugged in the front of the air itake was removed, throttle plate actuator. When I drove it in I could accelerate, my 6 mile ride home had a top speed of 20 mph and 2 dash lites were on. I went to kevin [service write up] and he just blamed it on the gas pedal assembly. . . Wrong. The gas pedal assembly has no sign of damage, rust or anything to cause this problem.

18 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 12/17/2013

Continues to stall after gas fill-up in traffic causing other cars to Dodge to right of left to avoid collusion. Makes for dangerous driving after fill-up. Apparently many other Charger owners are having the problem at an increasing rate. This is something Chrysler should look into before people get injured or worse! this is well documented on the internet.

19 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 12/17/2013

My car stalls after every fill up for fuel. I later discovered this was a common complaint causing random fires as well as rear end collisions from stalling onto freeways . I paid $40k for this vehicle. Manufacturer nor extended warranty covers this costly and dangerous defect. I would like for this problem to be rectified by a manufactures' recall or consumer reimbursement. 20 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

Stalls and shut off after fill up.

21 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 12/03/2013

Car stalled at stop light. Took a few tries to get started again. This happens after refueling the car. This is not the first time this has occurred, I am irritated that it keeps happening.

22 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/25/2013

After a full fill up, while driving car started chugging, and stalled. At red lights, or stop signs, car stalled and died. At a stop, going to start through an intersection, car stalled.

23 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/24/2013

I gassed up, and then drove off. When slowing down for a stop light, my car's oil light came on and stalled out. It restarted, but then shut off again. I was able to re-start and then travel 35 miles each way visiting family. This happened again on December 3rd after gassing up, it shut down on me when I got to work in the morning, then stalled again on the way home. Then again yesterday, Dec. 4th 2013 when I got to work, I backed into my parking spot, and it shut down. Then leaving for the day, I was going down the parking garage about to exit, and it shut off before I could leave my building. I then drove it around the block, and it shut down again, and I had a hard time starting it. It finally started, and I headed home, and it stalled in traffic again, not even 10 minutes later. I was able to start it, and make it home. And it's sitting at home today, December 5th, 2013.

24 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/18/2013

Warmed up my car as I always did in the morning for 15 min pulled out of my driveway and proceeded to the down the street to the stop sign came to a complete stop and my car started to idle hard continued down the street at 35 mph and came to a complete stop at a stop light the car started to idle hard again then the red lighting bolt started to flash and car shut off. I put my car back in park and restarted the car proceeded for another file mile approached another stop light light and same thing hard idle and shut off. I took my car to four different dealerships no one knew what the problem was. One mechanic said that it could be throttle body so I had him remove it and clean it he also removed the cables to battery to reset it car work fine for three days no problem the on the fourth day did as I always did warm up car and take off car shut off at first stop light. I noticed that it didn't do it while it was warm out side this morning was really cold and same issue.

25 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/17/2013

After fill up my car stalls at stop signs and when making turns. I have to stop to get it started then it runs rough for awhile. This had happen a week before then the same thing happens.

26 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

Car stalls after fill-up! acts as though it's flooded and dies. Only happens after filing it up with gas. Drive about a 1/4 mile then it starts to die. This is very dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!! how about a recall?.

27 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/07/2013

Vehicle stalls and kills after refueling. It happens before even leaving the pump and/or once driving has started. It takes a few miles or some time before it's normal again. If it's sitting idle, you can hear it struggling before a burst in rpm's leading to a stall. Sometimes it starts right back up. Sometimes it doesn't for a while.

28 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/07/2013

My car has stalled 3 separate times right after I have re-fueled. When driving away from the gas station and onto the street it has sputtered and then turned off in the middle of the street. My vehicle will constantly turn off making it unsafe to drive it. I have once been in the middle of the intersection when my vehicle stalled, I am lucky I was not struck by another vehicle. But as you can see it is extremely dangerous having this happen when driving.

29 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Every time I fuel up mt Charger r/t, it stalls when I am stopped. It has happened the last 3 times I have fueled my car. No lights come on in dash, nor any warnings. Sometimes it will just sputter when I go to take off. After a day it goes back to normal.

30 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 10/28/2013

After filling up the car and pulled out of the driveway of the gas station had approached the intersection making a left turn the oil light went on and vehicle died suddenly. I have taken it to get repairs, was told at first it was the oil pressure sensor. When replaced the engine light went on with a code reading the oil pressure senor low voltage. Now they want to replace the connector/harness that I was told Chrysler-Dodge no longer makes that part. Very costly repair.

31 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

After filling up fuel, went to accelerate and car started sputtering, this happened while merging onto freeway. Second time was when stopped at a stop light, light turned green, pressed the gas pedal and engine light came on and car died. Was able to coast 2 lanes over to the side of road. Car would restart but die after 30 seconds. Had to car towed home. Third time, car died at a busy intersection and was able to get it started and moved to a safe place. Fourth time it died while turning into a shopping center. This is an extremely dangerous fault in the car and should be a recall and paid by Chrysler, luckily I didn't get into an accident with someone rear ending me. My car is at the dealership with a $2000 charge to have this fixed. I should not have to be paying this, as it is a defect in the car itself!!.

32 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 08/07/2013

About 3 months ago at around 65,000 miles, my 2006 Dodge Charger r/t started sputtering and cutting off after filling with fuel. A strong odor would come from underneath. It will last for about 5-10 miles and stop. I have no more problems with it until I fill up again. It has been in the shop several times with me paying for diagnostics but they can not find anything wrong. I have explained to them it only happens when I put fuel in it. Now that I am seeing these complaints, I am contacting the Dodge dealership to see if this is my problem. It is dangerous driving this car like this. I have to make sure I don't put fuel in it in the city because you will get stuck in traffic and risk getting in and accident. Why want the company do a recall on this problem, it is very serious and need to be fix before someone gets hurt or killed. .

33 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 07/29/2013

Initially, after refueling my vehicle (2006 Dodge Charger r/t with 5. 7l hemi) at a gas station, the engine would hesitate and stumble a mile or so later, and operate normally after a few moments. However, beginning within the last month, whenever I refuel at the gas station, the engine will hesitate and then stall. The obd does not illuminate the mil or register a dtc. The engine is then hard to restart, and once restarted and the transmission in drive, the vehicle will not begin to move immediately upon pressing on the accelerator, as if the transmission is in park or neutral. The stalling happens when pulling out of the gas station, when stopped and idling, and has happened when driving in traffic. This problem has resulted in several near collisions as the unexpected loss of power happens when pulling into traffic and while driving. This condition continues for several minutes and miles. I have gotten into the practice of refueling and driving straight home to park the car overnight, as it seems to drive better given time to sit after refueling.

34 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 07/07/2013

While driving with cruise control on the car just stalled out for about 3-5 seconds and kicked back on. This has now become more frequent and also stalls while stopped now. I have spent over 1300$ trouble shooting and going back and forth to the mechanic. Only to start searching and came across this investigation. I just want the car to run correctly.

35 Gasoline Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

I have a 2006 Dodge Charger r/t with a 5. 7l engine. My car has started to randomly stall mostly at slower speeds when approaching a stop light or making a turn. There is no warning that it is going to happen, it just sputters, bucks and then stalls. There are no codes after restarting the car. It will restart if I put it in either park or neutral but continues to chug and sputter after restarting. It will do this for awhile and then will not happen again for some time. I never know when it is going to do it or how long it will last. It is very unnerving since it happens at lights and in the middle of intersections. It has happened a few times at highway speeds and thankfully I was able to quickly restart it in neutral and not get into a bad situation! it's very frightening since I live in a big city with heavy traffic. This is very dangerous!!!!! after looking into this issue with the car and seeing the number of complaints, it is obvious that the manufacturer needs to address the problem and fix it. A recall would be appropriate.
