1 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2007 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 02/01/2021

My vehicle begins to stall out at low speeds or while idling. While slowing down for a light or just waiting for the traffic light to change. I brought the vehicle to the Chrysler dealership at gwinnette Chrysler stone mountain georgia and the problem was diagnosed to be the fuel tank needing replacement after paying 3000. 00 dollars for repairs that did not resolve the issue. I was then given a final diagnosis that the fuel tank was the issue and it was going to cost 4500. 00 to replace. Today is April 1 and I just picked up my vehicle after it was sitting in the dealership for almost 1 month and still the problem has not been resolved. Please help me. My vehicle is sitting in my driveway with a car cover because I am afraid to drive it in this condition. Lascelle a. Soares 919 natchez valley trace grayson georgia 30017 718 644 6371. Laswarrez@aol. 2 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 03/08/2020

Each time I refuel my vehicle the vehicle stalls while in motion on a highway. This happens with any amount of gas I put into the tank. The vehicle stalling after refueling has occurred at various speeds ranging from 0mph at a complete stop up to 50mph.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2016 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/27/2019

I have been smelling a strong gas odor while driving on the road especially when the tank is full. Today while parked in my driveway I noticed a puddle of gas under the car too. The puddle was under the left rear seat. After some research I found a very common problem with these cars seems to be the fuel pump under the rear seat (where my 6 and 7 year old kids sit). I pulled up the rear seat and found the pump is leaking through the electrical connector and large amount of gas is pooled on top of the pump!! I used dozens of paper towels to soak it up and it just kept coming out. The electrical connector is also brown/burned near a couple of the probes indicating the gas is causing a short within the plug!! I unplugged the connector and found that the gas is actually spewing out from inside the connector on the pump, where the prongs are. Researching online I see multiple of the same complaints that the plastic top of the pump cracks, and there is even a website that sells a metal cover to help protect the fuel pump cover! I see multiple people complaining about this very dangerous condition in Chrysler vehicles and yet nothing is being done about it. The more research I'm doing online the more reports I am finding regarding fires occurring in minor collisions that should not end that way. Including a report of 4 passengers burned to death, and some vehicles that combusted after being parked. This is barely a 4 year old vehicle and no way should a fuel pump housing be brittle and cracked like this already. Photos are attached.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 06/12/2019

My 2006 Dodge Charger rt with the road and track option will intermittently loose power and often die after filling gas tank. Even if you don't completely fill it still will die unexpectedly. I never top the tank off with more gas. In addition when car dies going around a curve, the power steering goes out making driving really dangerous. The engine dies at nearly any condition. When traveling at highway speed, after accelerating after stopping. It happens most during acceleration after turns.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2011 Dodge Charger

Fuel smell and leak from right side tank constant causes lag in performance and hazardous in traffic as it will seem to loose power and hesitate happens consistently now after heavy breaking or any quick force on throttle when having to speed up due to traffic on highway or to any response needed while driving . . Ie accident ahead or quick action needed to avoid one.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 01/21/2017

Engine stalls several times immediately after filling gas tank. This is very dangerous because you loose steering and power brakes in traffic. The Dodge dealer says that it does this because there is gasoline in the vapor canister. I believe this is because something in the fuel tank is causing fuel to get into the canister where it does not belong. Changing the canister is not going to solve the problem. I am afraid to drive the car and I'm afraid to buy another Dodge or Chrysler.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2011 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

My alternator went out around 45k miles in 2013/2014. I had it replaced; it has since been recalled, but Dodge refused to acknowledge the issue when it was brought in even though there was a strong smell of something electrical burning along with a loss in electrical power. In 2016, at around 75k miles, fuel started leaking from just in front of the rear passenger-side tire. The gasket between the tank and pump was replaced. After the next fill up, the leak became worse. I had the car towed to another shop. When the tow truck driver was driving it onto the truck, gas was spraying downward with a good amount of pressure. The second shop also suspected the gasket due to the design of the fuel system. They also replaced it, but the leak persisted. After further investigation, the fuel pump assembly had developed a crack. I don't appreciate the thought of driving something that could catch on fire or worse. Apparently, the fuel system was "redesigned" post 2011 models. Dodge refuses to acknowledge that a fuel system issue can result in a major hazard. An oil change shop even commented on the strong gas smell and warned of the danger.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 04/17/2015

Car stalled 100 feet from service station after fill up with premium gas. Since then the car is run with 1/4 to 3/4 tank of gas and never filled completely up. Car shuts off during acceleration from stop light numerous times. Car shuts off at various speeds and starts back running with a surge in acceleration. This happens with and without cruise control on. Going up or down hills and on level pavement. Amount of gas in tank does not make a difference. Changed to different key no keyring without change in symptoms. Mobile 1 synthetic oil changed regularly. Car is driven by older driver within speed limit. Purchased car new with no miles on it. This is a safety issue that will get someone killed. Last drive was 20 miles. Car shut down and restarted itself 5 times going down the road at 40 mph. I want to repair the car but Chrysler/Dodge will not issue a fix for this problem. First Dodge I have ever owned.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 08/11/2014

After filling gas tank completely, car started stalling going down the road. Continued to stall at stop light and in parking lot and would not stay running unless hitting the gas pedal. Problem seemed to resolve itself after a few miles. Same exact issue has happened multiple times over the last few months, but only when filling the gas tank completely. When only putting partial amount into tank, this issue does not seem to be an issue. Have done research online and it seems to be a common problem with the 2006 Charger and 2 other Chrysler models. Spoke with firestone in columbus GA and was advised there was a service bulletin regarding this issue and that my gas tank needed to be replaced. Contacted a Dodge dealership in columbus GA over 2 months ago and was advised fuel tank is on national back order.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem of the 2006 Dodge Charger

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

Problem occurred and continues to occur after filling up the gas tank. First instance was in November 2010 and most recently December 2013. Car will stall numerous times until some amount of gas is burned off after driving. First instance occurred making a turn in front of a railroad track. Other instances have been on a freeway in heavy traffic causing me to have to pull over. Car can restart on the first re-attempt or take up to 4 attempts. Car will usually stall again seconds later. A workaround is not to fill up the tank all the way (to the auto shutoff of the gas pump) but this doesn't always work. This is with a 2006 Dodge Charger with a 5. 7 liter hemi. Chrysler denied the issue back in 2010 although the problem was starting to be documented on the internet at that time.
