To whom it may concern, my brand new 2018 Dodge Charger has suspension rusting issues. Pretty upset how a brand new car can have this type of issue. It has been my dream car to own such vehicle and to see this issue makes me think twice about Dodge. It only had 1,200 miles on this vehicle when the issue was noticed.

Front suspension has excessive rust. Rust is eating out the material, can possibly break and cause and accident. Dealer refused to replace part.
The front arm controls go out quickly. Went to a well known mechanic shop and was informed this is common and frequent in Chargers and my headlights have blown. Every other Charger I see, 2016 and above havevat least one headlight out or both. The headlight issue is too frequent for this to be just wear and tear on such a recent vehicle. The suspension wears out too quickly and is extremely expensive to have repaired. I owned a car for more than 5 years previously and the suspension did not show signs of wear until at least that 4th or maybe 5th year. These 2 issues I truly feel are a defect within this particular vehicle.

While driving on dirt road at about 15 or 20 no, I was steering straight in the intended direction, without any swaying, fishtailing, the vehicle accelerated and veered left thus, coming to rest in a drain ditch.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that within a week of owning the vehicle, there was an abnormal noise heard near the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (riverland Chrysler Dodge Jeep, 601 belle terre blvd, laplace, la 70068, (985) 652-9600) more than twice and they had been unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. The dealer had completed three unknown recalls prior to the motor turned on and hot air entered the vehicle and the vehicle stalled. The dealer replaced the alternator assembly but the contact was unable to determine if the recall repair remedies may have caused additional failures. The vehicle was not repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.

11-23-16, driving on interstate at 65 mph in a 70mph ,suddenly steering wheel began to pull by itself left to right repeatedly for about 3-4 seconds ,I nearly lost control, braked gently and steering returned to normal,,battery saver mode came on a short before this happened, 2 hours later on a 40 mph city street I was making a normal low speed left turn on a green light, car seemed to not go where I steered it and we hit a traffic control pole, deploying all airbags, there was a light drizzle in both instances, but this was not a hydroplane, battery saver mode was on for over 4 hours during our entire trip until our accident.

I've had many issues wrong with my car. The first complaint I would like to express is how the car shuts off on me without warning. While driving on the freeway and on busy streets, my car will shut off, but it will start right back up. This is a dangerous hazard and safety concern. I've taken my car to the gresham Dodge (on ne burnside) dealership to address this issue (503-666-2277). I was told "if it happens again, bring it back" there was no concern with Dodge that they were sending a dangerous vehicle back out on the road, that could potentially cause an accident. This was an issue that needed to be addressed now, not later. Dodge never solved that issue. Furthermore, my car was stuck in the park position on the eve of 4-18-16. I tried to get it into gear, without any success. I had to call for a tow truck. While waiting for a tow, I decided to google Dodge Chargers stuck in park. On youtube, there were so many others with the same issue. They had video of how to get the car out of park. You had to pry the covering off of the shifting unit. Stick a pen inside to move a wire around, in order to get the car into gear. It worries me that Dodge is aware of transmission issues and other issues with their vehicles, yet nothing is being done to fix it. I could of seriously been hurt or seriously hurt someone else while being on the freeway and my car just shutting off. They should be concerned enough to want to look into this issue and fix it. As I stated before, there are numerous videos on youtube with other people experiencing the very same issues. I did file a complaint on the bbb website, along with everyone else. My main objective for this site is to bring out how dangerous it is to operate my car under these conditions, that Dodge did not seem to care about. Sounds as if there are transmission and or engine issues with the car that needs immediate attention.

The car shakes and shimmies. It has been doing it for a few years and keeps getting worse. The higher the speed the more it shakes. It shakes right up the steering column into the steering wheel. I fear the shaking will result in other parts failing which could lead to an accident. Car is very scary to drive. If a steering rod fails because of this it could be catastrophic.
I have been driving my car on nearly a daily basis since I acquired it in October 2013. Over the course of the past 27k miles, I have had to replace my wheels ("rims") on 3 separate occasions during the spring months as a result of hairline fractures/cracks occurring on the inner wall of the wheel. The location of the crack to be more precise is where the bead of the tire would be seated during mounting. In each instance, the wheel in question was mounted on the front of the car (one driver side and two passenger side) and did not show any sign of deformation or bending. Dodge has been made aware of the cracks and has consistently denied claims stating that they were not a result of workmanship or from poor design. Given the stiffness of the suspension and weight of the motor over the front wheels as well as the consistency of the fracture (front of car and inside of wheel), I do not agree with their claims. I have done a brief search of the internet and have found an abundance of blogs and similar discussion boards where owners of srt8 Chargers of my model year have experienced the same problem. While my instances have been slow leaks from cracks, other drivers may experience blowouts from sudden expansion of the crack causing structural failure.
The driver's side wheel had a loud metal on metal scraping noise, both with braking and without braking, in both drive and in reverse positions. The noise only lasted for approximately two miles and could not be replicated, when I arrived at the tire place. They did replace some brake hardware on that side, saying that it was a thin metal piece behind the brake pad was bent. But now, two weeks later the wheel was making the same noise but not as loudly and it also went away on its own after driving a few miles. In addition my drivers front tire is terribly out of alignment and wore the outer edge of the tire nearly bald. I do not know if this is associated with the brake hardware or not, I have not fully investigated it yet. When the tire shop did an alignment on my car they were unable to correct my alignment problem. They told me that it had to do with the way that the motor was sitting in my car. My car is an all-wheel-drive and it was into the Dodge dealership for the timing chain guide recall a year ago. My tires at that point time we're only two years old now they are only three years old. The uneven wear on the tire has been within the last year. At the recall repair my car had 33,000 miles on it and currently my car has 43,000 miles on it. I had new tires put on at 18,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Charger. While driving approximately 35 mph, the wheels caused the vehicle to vibrate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the front axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000.
I was going over a speed bump about 2 mph and when the passenger rear tire goes over the speed bump it makes a loud clunk noise like it bottoms out. My abs, traction and air bag light_ stays on and will not go off. When I make a right turn the shifter area clicks mutiple times like a type writer.
Key ignition.
I was driving my vehicle when all of a sudden my radio turns off, then my abs and tread light come on along with a light that says "brake now. " I come to a stop and then everything shuts off. I can not push the brake to start the car back up and a burning electrical smell is coming from the hood. I have to manually lock my doors as the alarm does not work, then my windshield wipers start going off. Based off of research a lot of people are having these issues and saying it is the alternator. That is unacceptable for a 2011.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the vehicle shook and knocked excessively at low and high rates of speed. In addition, when the vehicle was at a complete stop, it hesitated several times and lunged forward. The contact had to apply the brake pedal with force to ensure that the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v313000 (air bags) 16v352000, but had to wait for the second notice to determine when the parts would become available. The approximate failure mileage was 14,200. Parts distribution disconnect. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I'm a police chief here in alabama,my department has six Chargers and the front suspension has been replaced in every one of them, some two or three times since purchased also power steering pumps have been replaced in several. This is ridiculous. . . No recall!!!!!.
2011-2014 Dodge Charger tension strut. I am the fleet parts manager at a municipality in texas. We currently have approximately 100 Dodge Chargers ranging from 2009-2014. We are having to replace the tension struts on both sides every 15-20 thousand miles due the bushings being torn. Dodge will not recognize this problem and will not warranty these tension struts after the first time. . . Something really needs to be done as the failure rate is alarming to me and the officers that drive these cars everyday.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Charger. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle drove over a bump extremely hard. The failure became progressively worse. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, but the diagnosis was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,000.
This is the second alternator in two years both burned up. Charger 2011 model sucks big time. So many problems with this car. Chrysler should recall the alternator. I know others are having the same problem. . . Updated 07/23/14 the consumer stated the day the alternator burned up, the vehicle was loosing power while driving. There was a burning smell. The radio and dashboard grew dim and then went blank. The rear tire had to be replaced every 2-3 months. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where they agreed something was wrong, for the tires to be wearing prematurely. She was told, it was the tow-bar, and the repair cost was $640. However, the dealer paid half of the repair. After the repair, the rear tires still needed to be replaced, every 2-3 months. The cruise control worked for about two months. The driver side head lights burned out every two weeks.
I was taking a left hand turn at aprox 15 mph an oncoming car changed lanes from a turn only lane and sped up through the intersection ( police estimated her speed at 35-45 mph ) she t boned into my passenger side. My car is being totaled. I have side impact airbags and headliner airbags. None deployed. My structure is twisted and bent facing the back of my car. My frame, my suspension is mangled.
I was driving home from work around 2am on Tuesday morning 10/22/2013. I was just coming out of a construction zone and it just turned back to 55mph. I was going approximately 45 mph when all of a sudden I heard something in the front end and the steering wheel began to shake and it started moving back and forth without me moving it. I lost all control over the vehicle and it shot me over towards the right and slammed me into the guardrail. I continued to try to move the wheel to the left to get the car away from the guardrail but the whole car slid up against the guardrail before I could regain control and move the car away from the guardrail. This car was bought on 10/10/2013. I didn't even have it for two full weeks before this happened. There is almost $12,000 worth of damage done to the car. I have filed a claim with Chrysler group regarding this and they inspected the vehicle but according to them there was too much damage to tell exactly what happened so they aren't willing to do anything for me. I am a very experienced and safe driver, someone who has driven tractor trailer over the road for 5 years and if you look at my driving record it would match up with what I am saying. There was something very wrong with that vehicle that night and I could have been seriously hurt or even killed. The fact that my wife and I bought this car less than two weeks before the accident and Chrysler wants nothing to do with it is very disheartening. And I now have to keep driving this same car and worry every single day that something like this is going to happen again.
In the last year I have had to have the front tie rods replaced three time.
While driving my 2010 Dodge Charger r/t I was stopped at stop light. When the light turned green I accelerated, immediately after I started accelerating a noise and clunking feel happened. I maintained a very slow speed because of not knowing what the issue was. I was able to pull into the first parking lot I could easily access. Again not knowing what the issue was but knowing that there was a different physical appearance to the rear of my vehicle and also how it drove while finding a parking location I had the vehicle towed to a trusted mechanic. Once on the lift we were able to see that the rear sub-frame bushings had completely separated from themselves. Being that I was going at a slow rate of speed the situation was kept under control, but had I been going at a higher rate of speed as I often do on my daily commute I am unsure if this would have turned out to be as controlled as it was. The impression my mechanic gave was that this was a catastrophic failure of a part that should not fail at this point of a vehicles life. After the initial assessment of the vehicle I did have it towed to a Chrysler dealership to do their assessment. I have also contact Chrysler multiple times and have been given little to no information on this particular issue other than that the engineers are looking at it. I did do some research and was able to find that other owners of the Dodge Charger, challenger and Chrysler 300 have had similar issues. Most of which were situations where owners replaced the bushings with stronger aftermarket parts prior to failure but it does seem to be a more common concern among owners. I know that I am just one person reporting an issue but my main concern currently is that at a higher rate of speed I do not know if the outcome would have been as controlled, and that is very concerning to me as I do have a family with small children.

2011 Dodge Charger. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle automatic transmission defect. The consumer stated there was a 2nd and 3rd delay upon acceleration at certain speeds. The dealer performed a flash on the transmission and he was informed the transmission needed to re-learn his driving habits. After driving over 700 miles, the 3 second delay was and still is constant, the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer on September 27, 2012, and he received a call the following the day, and was informed the transmission was operating within parameters. Immediately, upon leaving the dealer, the consumer noticed the vehicle was riding very rough. The tires were re-balanced and an alignment was performed.
