Six problems related to brake disc have been reported for the 1999 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Rotors & pads have been replaced once. The new rotors have been turned once and are vibrating again.
Front disc brakes will heat up and separate in half and half of the brakes will fall out due to the separation causing complete failure of brakes. Dlr claims it is glue that separates due to the heat. Consumer replaced front disc brakes but defect will reoccur. So far consumer has replaced it 3 times and it will only last about 3 months.
I complained about a vibration during braking, was told the rotors and pads were warped, I had them resurfaced at 350. 00 and less than a month later I am having the same problem. . . All this at 19,000 miles (all highway miles) Chrysler says it's not a warranty item. . . . . .
Brakes pulsate during medium application. Dealer found rotors warped and required milling and shoe replacement. Sounds like a manufacturing defect to me and a posible safety problem but dealer says its a wear item. The shoes still had 75%+ of the pad left. I see several complaints like this one here.
When brakes are applied vehicle vibrates. Dealer has inspected vehicle. Vehicle surges/oscillates when braking from approx. 45 mph to 0 mph.
