Clutch problems of the 2000 Dodge Dakota

Two problems related to clutch have been reported for the 2000 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Clutch problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2001

Clutch system/flywheel failed due to excessive heat. Vehicle had not been used for towing or hauling, and had relatively low miles. Front brake rotors and rear brake drums were warped and had to be machined to specifications. No work was covered by manufacturers warranty or extended warranty.

2 Clutch problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2000

Clutch failure (broken center) after only 45000 miles, also took out slave cylinder in the process. Vehicle was not used for towing (other than the occasional stalled car), the dealer had never seen this before and clutches were on a national back-order status. Problem manifest itself as a "cant get transmission into gear". Was intermittent also, problem would happen and not happen again for 2 months.
