Manual Transmission problems of the 2000 Dodge Dakota

Five problems related to manual transmission have been reported for the 2000 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Manual Transmission problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2005

Upon starting the vehicle consumer was unable to shift gears to third. Also, vehicle failed to go into reverse. Excessive force had to be applied to clutch to get it to go into reverse. Then, vehicle stalled. When the tow truck arrived consumer was able to change gears with 2 fingers. Dealership was currently taking the transmission apart , but indicated that the failure may be due to a bad flywheel. Two tsbs, #6089740 and #6089792 were issued on this failure.

2 Manual Transmission problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2002

When starting vehicle with foot on brake pedal, consumer states the vehicle will roll backwards. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide any further information. Ts.

3 Manual Transmission problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2001

My transmission sticks at intermitent times the first time it did this I was going 75ph on the freeway and could not get the vehicle back into gear.

4 Manual Transmission problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2000

Defect applies to 5 speed transmision models. Vehicle intermittantely stalls shutting down power steering and power braking system to shut down.

5 Manual Transmission problem

Brakes shake violently when braking normally; transmission pops out of first gear (manual transmission).
