Driver was using grab bar to pull self up into vehicle when the grab bar broke suddenly and pulled out of the vehicle without warning. This caused driver to fall and suffer a fractured hamate bone in the wrist and chronic shoulder pain. Injuries require surgery and are not yet healed.
The dash board on this vehicle is cracking all over. It has cracked around the passenger airbag and pieces have fallen into the airbag compartment. This has not caused injury yet, but if involved in an accident, the broken pieces will definitely cause injury and I hope that they do not affect the airbag deployment. Pieces blow into your face while running the defrost which if struck in the eye could cause an accident.

The dash is falling apart. It begin last summer and pieces are falling into the air conditioner vents and blocking the air flow and causing it to freeze up. . I have had a piece fall under the accelerator and cause me to be unable to accelerate in interstate highway traffic. Now a piece has fallen off causing the steering to jam. Part of the dash has fallen on the wiring and I'm afraid it is going to catch fire.
The dashboard in my truck has multiple cracks and my daughter has been cut by one of the cracks it is unsafe and should be replaced by the Dodge the cracks are getting bigger every day and soon I will loose a large section of the dash.
My wife was getting into my 2003 Dodge 2500 ram pick-up using the grab bar located on the passenger side of the truck. Grab bar is located on the interior of the a-pillar of the truck. Grab bar failed. The grab bar on the driver side failed 4 years ago, so I use the steering whee to get into the truck. She fell out of the truck onto the pavement injuring her knees. Upon inspection of the molded plastic grab bar. The failure occurred when the grab bar interior trim piece tearing at were the bolt interfaces with the trim piece. The bolts remained in the metal thread holes in the metal part of the a-pillar. The molded grab handle bolt to trim interface is not adequate to support any load.

The dash on my 2002 Dodge ram 1500 is cracking and falling apart. This is a serious safety hazard if the truck is in an accident, sharp pieces of plastic could injury people in the truck and interfere with the airbags. There are hundreds of other reports just like mine on the internet but Dodge will not do anything about it but charge the customer approximately $800. 00 to replace it.
The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Dakota. The contact stated that the paint on the entire vehicle had begun to peel abnormally. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic and they advised her that there was not enough clear coat on the paint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The VIN was not available.
2001 Dodge ram was involved in a 20 mph accident. The dash which already had several cracks broke into dozens of sharp fragments which were flown around the driver and passenger. Dodge dealer admitted this is a common problem but the factory has refused to accept fault or issue a recall.
In traffic going down the road at 65 mph, the dashboard caved in. Loose pieces everywhere. I didn't know if this had affected the electronics or not at the time. I just had to pull over and cut through three lanes of traffic. Luckily so far, just some minor electrical problems here and there. I am scared this will affect the airbag system later on. Dodge says there is no recall on this. Very unfortunate, last Dodge I will ever own.
The dashboard on my 2003 Dodge ram 1500 is cracked and continues to crack more and more each day. I am afraid that pieces that may fall inside the airbag compartment which may lead to serious injury if they become deployed. There have been several complaints about this with this particular model.
On March 23, 2003 I was in the process of getting in my 2003 Dodge 1500 quad cab. The "a-pillar" with the grab handle on it came loose from the truck(the plastic cracked and went over the bolts holding it on. ) I fell back and struck my head on the drivers door and then again struck my head on the ground. I suffered a subdural hematoma and was flown by helicopter to st. Louis for surgery. My family was told to tell me bye on two different occasions because e doctors thought I was going to die. I made it but ran up hugh medical and therapy bills. When researching this on the internet, I found that this grab handle failure has happened many times causing some injuries to major injuries. I also found out that Chrysler has been aware of this problem in 2003. Motor trend magazine experience this same failure in 2003 when they were testing this vehicle. Dodge did nothing and when you've gone through what I have that just.
I was getting into my pickup truck while in the process of leaving work to go home for day. I reached in and grab the grab handle located on the "a-pillar" and started to pull my self into my vehicle. The "a-pillar" grab handle broke, causing me to fall backward sticking my head on the drivers door and then the ground as I continued the fall to the ground. As a result of this fall I developed a subdural hematoma and almost died twice as a result of this defective part. Both the drivers side "a-pillar" grab handle and "b-pillar" grab handle from the passenger side are in the hands of a forensic engineer who has determined that both parts were substandard. The passenger side was also cracked around hold down bolts and ready to fail. Pickup truck was a 2003 Dodge quad cab 1500 4x4 on factory 20" tires. Chrysler llc. Is well aware that this problem exists but has chosen to do nothing! in 2003 when motor trend tested the Dodge quad cab for their " truck of year award" the part failed on motor trend magazine. There have been numerous serious injuries reported pertaining to these defective parts, but Chrysler has decided that their bottom line was more important than their customers health. A recall needs to be made for these parts to stop these injuries. I ended up missing 3. 5 months of work and my health insurance company ended up paying out over $350,000. 00 for these injuries. I bought this truck in 2003 new and I did so in good faith. Chrysler needs to act in good faith and replace these parts and protect their customers.
The dash on my 2001 Dodge is falling apart leaving sharp jagged edges that my children could be cut by. So far Dodge is not doing anything about it to my knowledge, even though this is a wide spread problem. Please look into this.
Dashboard just above airbag has a crack 1 inch from the front all the way to the rear. No accident ever in this vehicle, first owner.
Dashboard on my 2002 Dodge ram 1500 quad cab snapped in four pieces while driving over a speed bump. I searched for a dashboard on the internet and found a lot of complaints that this is happening to a lot of Dodge vehicles, even some 2006 models. It seems that the plastic that they used to make this dashboards its not durable at all. Thought maybe the south texas heat had caused the dash to weaken, but have also found out its happening in a lot of different zip codes. There is some vehicles that have holes on the dash that are in 18in in diameter, I have become very concerned about this issue, and have contacted Chrysler with no success on even taking a look at what happened to my vehicle, they are apparently not doing anything about it. I think with a crash and these dashboards breaking, the pieces are sharp and the airbag deploying it can cause a much larger damage, also with the holes on the dash it exposes the wiring and electronic parts to the intense heat the can cause it to overheat ant catch on fire or malfunction of other electronic parts, I don't know if I am the only one complaining to you guys about this, but something has to be done, please investigate before something tragic happens when one of these vehicles participates on a accident, I fear for my safety and my passengers.
Paint on the hood, roof and fenders is peeling.
I have a 2002 Dodge 1500 pickup truck. It has approximately 30,000 miles and has always been garaged. It is in like new condition except for the dash board which has recently formed many hairline cracks. I have been reading on line, motor trend thread, that this is an apparent problem with these vehicles and can develop into grave safety issues. In fact the dashboards in some vehicles have collapsed and have caused electric problems. Also the airbags integrity is questioned. You may have already received complaints from other people regarding this issue. I have contacted Chrysler/Dodge regarding this problem and have not heard back from them. Please let me know what I can do to assure my families safety? outside of not driving the truck I am unsure what else to do?.
The dashboard on my 2001 Dodge ram 1500 started developing cracks about 12 months ago. The cracks began on the passenger side around the air bag and continue to extend in several areas towards the drivers side. The dashboard appears to be extremely brittle and areas are beginning to sag inward. Components encased within the dash were not designed for constant exposure to sunlight that will result from continued failure of the dashboard. This creates a concern as to the potential exposure of electrical and air bag deployment components and the possibility of the air bag deployment being compromised as a result of the dash deterioration or the possibility of electrical malfunctions resulting from wiring insulation becoming brittle due to sun exposure.
The dashboard in my 2002 Dodge ram quad cab pick up truck is falling apart. It is breaking off in large sections causing the wires to be exposed. The cost to repair it apx. 2000 dollars. I have seen numerous complaints about this. Why is Dodge not being held responsible for a recall on this ??????.
This is my second complaint for cracking/crumbling dashboards on 2002 Dodge ram 1500 quad cab. First complaint was made Feb. 2009 with failure date of July 28, 2008, odi id number : 10259545. I have not seen any investigation reports only climbing consumer complaints. I can't believe there has been no progress. My fingers are crossed something will happen soon.
2001 Dodge Dakota leaks water during rainstorms on the passenger front floor.
The dashboard on my 2002 Dodge ram 1500 pickup is cracked in multiple places and some of the grill pieces that cover the defroster ducts have fallen into the ducts. The truck is only 5 years old and I am the only owner. I have friends that have fords and chevy's from the same year or earlier and their dashboard isn't cracking in such a way.
Dash on 2002 1500 Dodge quadcab bought new in 2003 has been cracking for more than 3 years. The dealer knows it is a problem but the factory is in denial. Now it is causing electrical problem. My light have gone out suddenly. My alarm wiring was cut by the dash and the engine shut off. The speaker have been ruined. It is now becoming a safety issue.
Where should I start my 2001 Dodge Dakota quad cab as with most complaints I also have had the same problems as other owners of this truck I have had to replace both leaf springs on the rear end both snapped at the same spot for no reason . Have had to replace heater core ac core driverside door lock sometimes works also replaced passenger side complete hub assembly, now going to have to replace driver side, abs system now failing after replacing rear brake shoes on truck the control module for the abs system stays running after turning truck off have to unplug wiring. If Toyota can recall there vehicles for safety reasons then so should american manufacturing and the government should make them. But us government doesn't want to upset company's and make them lose more money I for one plan to place a law suit against them for there neglect against defective parts on these trucks and cars I plan to use this web site and others as my bases for law suit with this many complaints there has to be a problem.
2002 Dodge ram 1500 quad cab. Sun visor keeps falling. Started out not going up all the way. Over time it will only go up part way.
The dashboard of my 2002 Dodge ram 1500 has several large cracks and parts are starting to brake away. I feel that this could cause harm to me or my passengers if involved in an accident. I feel that it is very unsafe due to sharp hard plastic parts of the dash that could do serious harm. I also feel that this could affect the defrost duct and cause the defroster to not work properly.
2002 Dodge ram 1500 quad cab. The dash on the passenger side developed a total of four seperate cracks within a 6 week time frame. The cracks run from the windshield in the top section down into the section that contains the passenger side airbag. 3 of the cracks are in the top section while the fourth one is in the airbag section of the dash.
The dashboard on the 2003 ram quad cab was cracked after I got in it to head home from work. The truck has 31000 miles, and has been babied from day one by me. Crack is definitely a design flaw, and was not caused by sun or environmental damage.
The dashboard in my 2002 Dodge ram 1500 quad cab is cracking. I have heard that this is a known problem in many Dodge trucks and that daimler Chrysler is aware of this and may or may not issue a recall. Chrysler needs to replace these dashboards before major mechanical or electrical problems occur. The crack is getting bigger all the time and others are starting.
