Purchased 2002 Dodge ram used. At first service interval, rack and pinion boots were leaking, main seal was shot. Also had manifold leak, along with a steering problem that causes shaking at 40 mph. Steering problem still remains, and there is a loud rattle that the dealership cannot find. This vehicle has been a nightmare, most recently, my fuel pump decided to quit working. Also, the interior trim, namely the hand grips on the driver and passenger door have been replaced numerous times, due to the cheap plastic that is used as a holding ring. Do not purchase this type of vehicle. Have had nothing but headaches with the truck, from the simple things, to the expensive things. . . Was just told that my head gaskets are shot as well, have spent thousands on this truck, with no returns, do not get this year/model of ram 1500.
The dashboard on the 2001 Dodge ram 1500 was falling apart.

2003 ram 1500 upper and lower dash is falling apart. I have taken care of this truck sense I purchased it off the lot. Chrysler should look into this because I know for a fact that it is happening on most of the trucks out there.
Our truck's paint is flaking. We want daimler Chrysler to re-paint our truck. We found out from our insurance that this is a manufacturer issue and screwup. Our roof and hood are flaking and if not taken care of soon it is going to rust. We have noticed that other trucks in our area that is in the same year model range is doing the same as ours with the paint. What is the deal?.

I am the original owner of a 2001 Dodge quad cab dashboard is almost completely gone from cracking. Had a piece come off as I was driving, and hit me in the eye while windows were open. . Called d/c once, no response. . Called today, and they said they would look at it for me. . Report from local tv showed this to be a major problem. The electrical components are failed.
The dashboard on my 2001 Dodge ram is cracked in several places with big gaping holes. After googling this problem, I discovered there are thousands of these.
My 2003 ram 1500 quad cab driver side handle broke at just 36,500 miles and the service tech at the dealer the there in nothing they can do. That it was on my own. I only weight 150 lbs. And landed on my back on the street. If the dealer would just replace it I wouldn't be complaining. That is a really crappy material used to make this handles. Must of the plastics use on the interior of this trucks is crumbling down.
2002 Dodge quad cab 1500 the dash is falling apart. It has several cracks and the vents grates are falling creating jagged edges which could effect air bag safety and potential wiring damage.
Dodge ram 1500 2002 model dash board falling apart so bad it is now cracking around the air bag area I feel this is a safety hazard and Dodge should replace this dash before an accident occurs and someone get hurt because of sharp edges around the dash from falling apart.
The dash- has cracks that run the length of the dash total of six the truck only has 29,000 miles and is garaged all the time. I feel this is a defect. The truck has never been abused in anyway before last week my truck was in excellent shape.
The drivers side assist handle that was used to get into vehicle came off in the consumers hand and he fell out of truck on his back. The consumer was not hurt. The consumer was concerned about his grandmother using the one on the passenger side to help her get in. The dealer replaced them all the time.
2005 Dodge Dakota, has severe shudder when braking at highway speeds above 50 mph. Just had it returned from the shop saying there is no problem with it. Will be taking it back next week for another checkup. Brakes pulsate anytime you appy them at those speeds. Dealer check all the brakes and found no problems.

2001 Dodge ram quad cab short bed pickup has mysterious failure of the dashboard. Cracks extend throughout. Very concerned about potential dangers associated with a collision and airbag deployment. Pieces of the dashboard could become dangerous projectiles causing serious injury or death. Cracks began in July of 2005 and have become so severe by 2009 there is not much of the dashboard left intact.
Collapsed dashboard.
This complaint concerns the disintegration of the dashboard on the 2001 Dodge ram pickup. My truck was only 4 yrs old when it started cracking. It is totally unacceptable for a auto manufacturer to produce something that falls apart so quickly and then not offer to replace it. I am also having problems with the left front speaker, probably due to the wiring being damaged with the breakage.
The dash in my 2001 Dodge ram 2500 diesel has cracked in many places. I always have used a windshield visor.
The top of the dash on my 2002 Dodge ram is severely cracked. This issue has been taking place since approximately 2004 and is now starting to work it's way to the front of the dash. I thought this problem occurred because it was parked outside, but I have since learned this is a common problem among many (if not most) Dodge rams. I also did not know that there was a place to report this problem until now. Otherwise, I would have reported this years ago.
Dash on 2001 Dodge quad cab has been cracking for the last 3 years even into air bag department, Dodge company says they are not responsible for the dash, I think its is time Dodge steps in before someone is kill there are enough complaints the national safety board steps in and investigate as to what went wrong.
At approximately 25,000 on my vehicle, in the year of 2004, I noticed small cracks starting to form on the dashboard this progressed into much larger cracks, completely destroying the entire dashboard over the years. This was a safety issue, because small segments of the plastic material fell into the back of the dashboard causing failure of the air conditioner vents, defroster, and illumination of the dashboard lights. A recall should have been issued based on the thousands of complaints by dissatisfied owners. Chrysler corporation has agreed to repair the dashboard, but only if I agree to a $500 deductible, in which I have not agreed to, simply because I believe they are trying to charge me the difference between the wholesale and retail price, of the dashboard. I would appreciate any assistance in this matter. Thank you. . . Updated 01/17/2013.
Water on passenger side floor board.
The dashboard in our 2001 Dodge ram truck has a huge crack in it. It has been there for several years. There has been nothing done thus far to repair this.
Rattle in dashboard, drivers side.
Severe flooding of passenger floor of vehicle. Electrical risk. Mold & allergy problem.
The weld on the lower, driver's side, door hinge completely separated. In my attempt to get it repaired, the local welders and body shop guys told me that this was a common failure on the Dakotas and they knew exactly how to repair it. The failure of that hinge makes it dificult to get out of the vehicle-I bent the front quarter panel where the door meets it when it failed.

03 1500 ram quad cab wind noise driving on the highway the wind noise is so bad that you think there is a window down especially on the passenger side, I had to take the truck back to the dealership numerous times they replaced weather striping on both sides but the vehicle still has a very bad wind noise on the right side. Dealer keeps saying (could not duplicate complaint) I am a retired mechanic and know better because I ride in the passenger seat when my wife drives and it will drive you crazy I know that the wind noise is not a normal condition you can look at the rear doors on both sides and see they need to be adjusted down but it's out of factory warranty now but it was in it at the time of (complaint's) so I guess I will have to repair it myself. I have ridden in other trucks with quad cabs and they are so much quieter so what is the deal ! ( it takes 2 people in the vehicle to diagnose the complaint) you can hear it from the driver's seat but not as bad. Personally I think they only send 1 person when they try to diagnose the problem. So I guess ill have to dig out mt tool box and fix it properly myself. I am a very disgusted Dodge quad cab 1500 owner!.
The dash on our 2002 Dodge ram quad cab is cracked from the windshield to the outside molding. If I was ever in an accident the pieces would fly off and passengers and driver would sustain serious injury or death. I can't believe Chrysler corp has not fixed this know problem. They need to fix the problem and be held accountable. Please please please make them fix it.
