Windshield Wiper/washer Problems of Dodge Dakota

The windshield wipers and turn signals have been malfunctioning for a few weeks. When I attempt to signal left, the signal turns on to the right and vice versa. The windshield wipers are not reliable when using the switch. Both turn signals and windshield wipers stopped working completely.

The vehicle was inspected by an independent repair shop, who determined the windshield wiper/washer motor needed to be replaced. There was a NHTSA recall, # 04v216000, regarding the windshield wiper/washers. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN. The manufacturer was alerted.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Dakota. The contact stated the windshield wipers would fail intermittently during rainy weather. Additionally, when starting the vehicle, the wipers would independently start. The dealer replaced the windshield wiper switch yet the failure continuously recurred. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage is 29,000. Updated 10/21/10. Updated 10/26/10.

'recall campaign' Dodge Dakota 2002, windshield wiper motor. The consumer made an appointment for 10:00 am he arrived at 9:30 am and at 11:20 am the dealer still had not performed the recall. After waiting for almost 2/12 hours the consumer requested his vehicle back without the recall being performed.

The consumer received a recall notice in reference to the windshield wiper motor. Recall# 04v216000. The part was not available.

While driving, in inclement weather the windshield wipers would come on and go off on their own. The dealer was aware this it was an intermittent problem. The mechanic informed the consumer that this vehicle was not on recall.

Consumer received NHTSA a recall 04v21600 on the windshield wipers two months ago. Two months later, dealership still does not have the parts to conduct the recall. This dealership is the only one in town. The next dealership is about 350 miles away.

04 v 216 000/windshield wiper module motor: the consumer was unable to get this recall repaired because the dealer was unable to get the parts.

When the weather gets cold windshield washer does not operate. This resulted in poor visibility, and affected the consumer's view while driving. Dealer inspected the vehicle, and informed the consumer that they could not locate or duplicate the problem.

2003 Dakota quad cab. In cold temperatures below 15f the fluid sprayers will freeze. Causing low to zero visibility in winter weather driving. When truck is parked and warmed up for 10-15 mins fluid will spray for as long as you want, after you stop it pools up in the tips of the sprayers, and will freeze once you move again. The hose's are also not insulated to protect from the cold so they don't freeze as well. This can and will cause zero visibility, causing the drive to not be able to see and possibly getting into an accident.

The windshield wipers on my Dodge 2001 quad cab hits on the hood as the wipers go back and forth motion. This is leaving a wear mark in the metal on the hood from where it continously hits. I informed my dealer where I bought the vechicle and they laughed at me. The problem is still taking place since I bought the vechile in 2001.

Taken to dealership several times,but they find no problems. Also rate of speed has been up to 55 miles when not working. No safety defect listed.
