On my way home early morning I lost full function of my car. Luckily I was pulling into my home but my car would not go in any other gear but reverse. I could not properly put it in park or cut it off. Now it would turn on because it cannot shift into any gear. If I had made one more stop before heading home I could have been in a very bad accident or worse. This happened on 12/1/25. I immediately put on my parking break and chocked my wheels. I called the recall line for Dodge. We called several dealerships that are refusing to look at it the car because no repair is available. This recall notice was originally sent by email from carfax in October and it's very serious. This recall notice should tell people not to drive the car but it doesn't. I finally receive a notice a few weeks ago by mail that says there's still no fix. On both 12/4 and 12/6 I called the recall line for resolution or a rental. Each time being told to contact a dealership and that I would hear back from something in 24-48hours. Each time I was also informed that nothing was actually being done to handle my case and it was just sitting but that whoever I was currently talking to would get it resolved. Today 12/9 I called again and was told the exact same thing. Only that today is was allegedly really assigned to something and I would receive a call back in a day. It's been nine days without a vehicle. I still have car payment for a car I now cannot drive due to no error of my own. I have taken all the steps to remedy this to no avail.
My 2013 Dodge Dart is subject to a shifter cable safety recall. The vehicle has been at an authorized Dodge dealership in texas since November awaiting recall repair. The dealership has confirmed the vehicle is unsafe to drive, but the repair has been delayed for several months. No reliable transportation assistance has been provided during this extended delay. This safety recall has left me without a usable vehicle for an unreasonable amount of time.

I have less than 55,000 miles on this vehicle, and my shift linkage bushing has failed, making it so my car is stuck in gear and the shifter inside the vehicle will not work at all. There was a recall in 2019 for this issue, and it seems it hasn’t been satisfactorily remedied and another recall should happen. I purchased the vehicle one year ago (oct 2024) from a Honda dealership. This should definitely not be happening with a car less than 10 years old with less than 55,000 miles. It has made my car inoperable. Luckily I was backing into a fuel station spot when this happened, so I was going very slowly. I just was not able to remove my key, start the car, or drive it afterwards.

The transmission bushing broke and the transmission was disabled. The steering wheel was locked and the key was unable to be removed. The safety of the driver and passenger were at harm on the highway when steering was disabled and the transmission could not be moved after stopping. The problem was produced and was forced to be repaired by a shop for the safety of the driver at expense of the driver. The vehicle was then brought to a Dodge dealership in margate florida, where the recall was closed, the issue was not fixed. The vehicle broke down immediately following this closure of the recall. The vehicle was inspected and claimed to be repaired by a Dodge dealership. This is not true. No warning lamps indicated this issue happening once of the two times it broke down.
The Dodge Dart has a malfunction that might have contributed in many crashes this car has been involved in. The issue is that some Darts will experience a malfunction where the lights inside the car will randomly flicker (should they be on), digital dash will also flicker and navigation screen will either restart or just shut off. The biggest problem in all of this is that the power steering will always temporarily shut off and make it extremely hard to steer the car for a few seconds and this can happen during turns. The reset can also happen many times in a row forcing the power steering to be shut down for multiple seconds longer than the avg like 5-8 seconds. Within that reset all lights on the dash will flick on and off and if you have cruise control on, it will shut off permanently until you restart the car. Sometimes the reset doesn't successfully turn on and the navigation will remain off indefinitely and will blast hot air into your cabin forcing you to park and restart your car. If your Dart slows down to a stop the power steering will shut off forcing you to attempt to park your car with an extremely stiff power steering or you can restart your car for a chance to regain some assitance from the ps. Sometimes putting the car in reverse shuts off the car. The issue that the car displays when these errors occur is "service power steering" or "service electronic braking system" weird request when the braking is just fine. Dealership cannot diagnose this issue because the codes seemingly clear themselves as if nothing has ever happened. I have found a few others with similar issues to mine on reddit as well as the Dodge Dart forums. This issue also happens at random. There isn't a trigger or requirement for it to happen. You can be sitting at a parking lot with the car on in park and it might just reset itself for no reason and give you a stiff wheel.
06/08/2021. My daughter stopped to gas up at costco when a notice came up on the dash "engage parking brake to prevent rollback". She immediately called me to make me aware of it. Once home she again get this message. 06/09/2021. My daughter drove to school with no issues. However, leaving school she was going slowly over a speed bump when the car automatically shifted into park. She lost acceleration and the car rolled backwards off of the speed bump while she was wrestling with controlling the steering. The car shuts off and she was unable to start it again. She immediately called me and told me the message displayed again from yesterday "engage parking brake to prevent rollback". Now the car won't start. I am now on my way to the school when she calls me back to say it started and she is on her way home. I told her to be very careful. 06/10/2021. I drove the car while my daughter followed me to the dealership. On the way to the dealership at every stop the message displayed "engage parking brake to prevent rollback". While at the dealership I explained the problem and I had brought all repair documents that stated the same issue occurred in a repair with my son (twice), with me, and now with my daughter. It all stem from gear shift cable/bushings/tcm/transmission, which then was covered under warranty or recall. I emphatically didn't want to waste time with a diagnostic when I am sure its related to past repairs. The service tech was trying to convince me it could be something else and the diagnostics will tell them the true cause. I was reluctant but agreed for the diagnostic. I did state that what that diagnostic will show is that the transmission/recall is faulty. 06/11/21. The service tech called me to say the car coded p07b4 [park positioning sensor]. However he never called it a transmission park positioning sensor because in my opinion this part should be covered under the transmission warranty (see manual - parts covered - transmission:).
Clunking noise with or without engaging brake pedal.
The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Dart. The contact stated while driving at 70 mph, the radio engaged on its own and the vehicle lost power steering. Several warning lights such as the brake system light, the battery light, the airbag light, and the engine light were illuminated. The steering wheel became difficult to maneuver but the contact was still able to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with the battery and alternator needing to be replaced, and was repaired. The failure reoccurred today while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the vehicle as the obd reader failed to work. The vehicle was also taken to an unknown dealer who was unable to diagnose the vehicle for the same reason. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
Anti-lock brake system service light comes on and off as well as the traction control light. The antilock brake system is not working at all and skid control doesn't work either. Brakes are hard to push often and vehicle is more and more reluctant to stop. The vehicle is always in motion. Stearing is harder when the vehicle slows or stops also. The issue began at the same time as the antilock brake issue. Check engine light also came on. All lights where cleared at my last service but came back on immediately from leaving the dealership I serviced it at. I have kids I transport in this vehicle and failing brakes under 90000 miles is a big deal. Approximate mileage is 83000.
Steering wheel locked. The check engine light is on and and service power steering can only move forward and backwards wheels won't turn.
The recall for the gear shift has been worked on by a Dodge service dealer and I'm still having issues if the gear sticking intermittently where I can't switch from drive to park and I get stranded in the highway. I am a single mom with a 5 month old and I am afraid for us. I have taken back to service for a recheck and they say everything is fine. It's not fine! this happens.
On 3 occasions. My clutch broke. I had it repaired 2 times and currently it went out again. I was driving during the time and lost power to my car. I also had replaced with the dealer my brake booster that went out 3 times. Frustrated.
I'm on the freeway driving my car and it stops in middle of the road . The power steering went out also. I almost got hit by a car behind me .

I was driving to work and not even a mile from my house when I was coming to a stop at a stop sign my 2014 Dodge Dart sxt stalled. When it stalled the battery light came on and I shut it off. I was able to get it to start the next try. Then 7 days later, I was driving no more than 30 seconds when I was coming to a stop at another stop sign and the car stalled again with the battery light coming on. I tried to start it again a few times but was not successful. I needed a jump. I drove it straight to a mechanic who ran a few tests on the car including checking the battery and charging system. He said everything looked good which I figured since I just changed the battery a year ago. I drove it home. 2 days later I was two blocks from my house when it stalled for a third time (mind you this has never happened before these occurrences). Again, I was coming to a stop and the car stalled, the battery light came on, and I needed to have a jump since I couldn't get it to start. After researching a bit, this seems to be a very common issue. A few people said that changing the oil or adding more did the trick so I checked my oil and it was fine plus I changed the oil 3 months ago so it isn't that. Most cases mentioned that this started to occur around the 50,000 mile mark, which is about where mine is. There really should be a recall on this car it's a death trap! when the car stalls the power steering goes out as well so if this happened on the highway it would be very dangerous. This issue could really hurt someone and Dodge really needs to do something about it or find a solution. I took my car to the dealership in jenkintown, PA to get looked at and was informed of a few recalls but none that had to do with my issues. The fact that this is clearly a common issue is very concerning especially since there seems to be no clear solution.
I was driving to get my son pulled into parking spot put car in park well I thought it was I start to get out and car keeps going even after key was turned off. My car is was stuck in drive position the shifter cable came completely off! it happened three-four more times after I got the piece back on. Which one time was very dangerous and couldn't have been bad. Especially since I was driving with a child one out of four of the times.
Battery light comes on. Recall for shifter was fixed, but the fuse box is now burnt. It's is a special part. I think that there is a correlation between the recall then part is inter the battery and near fuse box,.
Feels funny when you shift gears.
When traveling on the interstate, I experienced shaking in the steering wheel and a rumble noise. I thought it was a wheel bearing but my mechanic has diagnosed it as the right front cv axle shaft, center support bearing needing replaced.
Vehicle is making a rattling sound when turning at a slow speed. Sounds like metal scraping. Happens when turning below 10mph on a slanted or straight road. And shifter cable brushing is wearing. Active recall but no remedy available.
I bought a Dodge Dart 2013 limited edition (or was talked into it by your salespeople) I wanted this to be my last car and I actually really liked it. Then I started having transmission problems with the car shifting into neutral randomly. I took it to a Dodge dealer but the problem persisted. This happened three times and they said they did everything they could. A lemon law firm contacted me and said they could replace the car if I had 3 occurrences with receipts which I submitted to them. They said Chrysler was giving me $3900. I was confused because I thought they were giving me enough to replace the car. They explained Chrysler didn't want to do that. I actually forgot about it (that was 2016) and thought the issue had been fixed so I was happy. Now this past July 4th 2019 my transmission problems have returned. My car has 48,000 only and not even the Dodge extended warranty (which I wanted to now purchase) do not cover 2013 models. That speaks volumes to me. They know they sold me a lemon and one that is not safe. I can't afford a new car and have now learned that lemons are bought and sold back to the public. I will never buy or speak well about Chrysler again. You are a fraudulent company. I wanted a Honda originally but was talked out of it by neighbors who work for Chrysler. I will be calling deena centofanti from channel 2 fox to tell her I was sold an unsafe car and I am stuck with it. They already know that Chrysler knew the system design was faulty in 2012 but released the 2013 anyway. Shameful.
First of all, when steering to turn there is a cracking noise. It gives the feeling that the steering system is gonna break. Second main problem is that car shuts completely down with no reason when breaking. This just happen to me this morning. I was stoping because of a red light and the car shut down there. I could not turn it on after a few minutes min while I was complete stopped in the middle of the road. This is pretty dangerous if it happens while driving in the freeway. . .
After vehicle hasn't been drive. For few hours, it will stall while in motion. Vehicle will be in motion the. Shut off after releasing the accelerator, this affects the vehicle steering also. Restarting the vehicle by turning the key while in park and the vehicle begins to cycle the starter and eventually start back up after the starter cranking. While the battery light is on. Battery has been checked and no issues there. After research, this tends to be an ongoing issue with these models.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that the engine made an abnormal vacuuming sound. The sound began when the vehicle was started. The contact also stated that the steering wheel made an abnormal squeaking sound when turned and the accelerator pedal felt heavy when depressed. All of the warning indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Dodge country (1902 e. Central expy, killeen TX, 76541) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
I was driving down the highway on my way to work in the morning, and coming around a turn my steering jerked to the right making my car swerve off the highway and through a couple yards, the accident left the car a total loss I have a 1 year old daughter and a wife what if they were with me and the accident was much worse than it was I could have been killed due to this car, I've had the car for about 3 years and in total it was in the shop for about 12 months of the time I have had it this is by far the worst car you can own and it is a death trap I would not recommend this car to anyone.
I started the car moved the shiftier to reverse took foot off brake started to reverse slowly. The car jumped forward on to curb and grassy area destroying under body shields maybe because of recall 19v-293.
Takata recall. My car gear shift cable came apart while shifting gears to park. I am unable to move from different gears. I have read numerous of reviews concerning the gear shift malfunction once a car reaches 70k miles.
I have had several problems with this car. The main problem is when the oil gets low, the oil light doesn't come on, and the car shuts down. This causes the steering wheel to lock up, and it becomes hard to properly pull the car over safely. When will Dodge recall this engine?!!.
I started my vehicle this morning and it started rough and was surging. At takeoff the vehicle was driving strangly. Slowed to make a uturn, turned to the left slightly and my steering wheel locked, car shut down and was barely able to brake to slow down. I almost ran a man over trying to stop as I could not steer. The battery symbol popped up on the dash. I popped car in park. Removed key. Restarted vehicle and it took a good 5-10 seconds before turning over. There was hesitation upon start. After beginning to drive it seemed to be driving normally. . This seems to be a bit of a ticking time bomb and a very large safety issue and seems to be a known issue across all models.
I purchased the car July 2017 and has been at the dealer 5 times due to problems. I had a reoccurring issue with the battery light coming up, the dealer found no issues with the battery. March 2018 the battery sign lit up followed by a slew of other signals, including a power steering lock signal, the car started shaking and the power steering locked. I was at the light making a left when this happened. I was able to pull the steering wheel hard enough to make the left and luckily found a parking lot where I could park since I was in a heavily transited area. Attached is a picture I took after I was able to safely park the car. The car was towed to the dealership and they found no issues with the car, I had to pay $250+ for this. November 2018, the bluetooth does not connect, the odometer is blinking continuously and the car shakes when at a stop. The dealership has had the car for three weeks and turns out to be that the bluetooth console needed to be changed ($900+ cost), a tune up was needed badly ($400+) and there was believed to be a problem with a piece of the transmission that was causing the car to shake. The powertrain warranty would cover the cost of this last issue if it was found to be that this was the problem. If it was found that the transmission part was not causing the shaking, we would need to cover the $600+ cost for the labor. We are in process of dealing this matter with a manager at the dealership, since we do not want to keep this car.

For the last 4 months my vehicle shuts off as I'm driving. After 3 trips to the dealership for a few test they determine that due to low oil consumption the car has a sensor that shuts off the engine while driving. During one of these incidents my vehicle turned off as I was approaching an intersection in which the brakes did not work which lead me to slowly roll into the intersection on a red light. Luckily it was morning rush hour so no accidents occurred. I truly believe this vehicle needs to be recalled it's a safety hazard not only for me but also for others.
Power steering goes in and out due to shortage to terminal. Causes entire dash board to flicker or car not to start. Traction control comes on middle of driving and will not turn off.
Takata recall this car is garbage ! Dodge shouldn't make this model anymore. I've been having problems two years in of having this car. I had to start changing tires so many time. Air always goes down, tires keep getting those air balls. (no I don't park close to the sidewalk or hit the sidewalk) my steering wheel always cracks everytime I turn it. My whole car shakes ! I press the brakes and it goes crazy. My engine messed up too (it had water inside) I had to fix some heating hose ! my window button stuggles to go up ?I had to change my battery three time ! keep in mind I got this car new. Zero everything ! for 6 years ! I've put so much money on a car I haven't even finished paying ! a car needs thing to get fixed but not like this! just isn't normal. Garage of a car! Dodge Dart sxt 2013 ! don't waste your money or time on this car. Save yourself.
Driving on the open road the car looses power, can't steer can't accelerate. Very dangerous when traveling at 70 mph even at 35 thru the city. I have noticed online of all the complaints and Dodge just says I don't know what to tell you. This needs to be fixed as some one will die driving these cars in this condition!! read were numerous people have been involved in accidents because of this. Happens more when turning in my case.
