When filling gas tank to capacity, the gas pump shuts off and gas spews from the vehicle out onto the vehicle and ground. I would estimate maybe 1/2 to 1 gallon of gas is involved. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, sherwood, of salisbury, MD in 2011 to have problem addressed. Was told that there was no problem to be fixed. Received letter dated 2/1/2013 from Chrysler group llc stating that the waranty on the fuel tank inlet check valve has been extended to lifetime coverage for my vehicle. It goes on to state that "if you are experiencing this condition now or in the future, to simply contact your dealer to have the repairs performed. Took car to sherwood dealership and was given the the run around. Was told in June 2013 that there was a shortage of parts available to fix my vehicle and they would call in a few months to schedule the repair. Called the Chrysler customer care assistance center and reported the incident on 6/4/2013. Decided to file a grievance here with the NHTSA as this is an epa issue and safety issue due to the gasoline spillage. As a result of the gasoline spillage, the paint under the fuel filling area of the vehicle has bubbled and has now rusted in that area. Have requested that this problem also be taken care of as it is a direct result of a malfunction of the vehicle. Have been told that they would make the repair(whenever the parts are available) but, will not take care of the rust issue. Would like to have feedback as to how to get this taken care of. It is absolutely ridiculous that Chrysler acknowledges there is a problem, has sent a letter for instruction on how to address the problem, but has not actually fixed the problem 5 months from the date of the letter!!!!.
When filling the gas tank the fuel splashes and pours out all over me and the vehicle. The paint on the vehicle that is exposed to the fuel has begun to bubble and rust. If the inconvenience and hazard of the spill isn't enough the loss of fuel at today's high prices is an injustice that needs to be addressed. Please help us! we paid a lot for our vehicle and now it looks like crap! Dodge should care more about it customers!.
When filling 2006 Dodge Durango the pump will shut off. Aprox after 2 seconds fuel will shoot back out of filler all over person filling tank, the truck, and the ground causing a fire and safety hazard!.
My 2006 Dodge Durango shoots gas out of the gas tank when filling up with gas. It has been doing this since 2009 and I just found out yesterday when getting a recall (wipers) fixed that a recall for 2005 had the issue. There is no recall for 2006 Dodge Durango models.
Whenever I put gas in the tank, it comes back out when it reaches full. It sprays and splashes out onto the vehicle and ground. I avoid this now by filling the tank very slowly for the last couple of gallons and trying to listen for any gas that may be coming back out at me. It still comes out sometimes. Either way, this isn't right.
Fuel splashes back from the fuel filler tube every time I fill the tank, if left to auto shut-off, resulting in splash-back on the person filling the tank, and fuel spilling on the ground.
The fuel tank spits out about a quart of gas when refilling tank. This has happened every time I have refilled since I bought the vehicle in March 2006. I have resorted to filling only 3/4 full for the last few years since my dealer will not fix the problem. I have addressed the problem to the lyndsey Chrysler Dodge dealer in st roberts, mo several times but no recalls have been issued for the 2006 Durango.
