36 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2018

I've had a few recalls on the truck. Several listed wiring. They've all been corrected or checked by a dealer. My truck caught fire and burned all the electrical under the hood today. Less than a month since the electrical recall was supposedly repaired. It was stopped but running at a gas station after a short 3 minute drive.

37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2018

While driving on no more than 65 mph the engine has shut down for no reason, and with no warning. This has happened 4 times, and all 4 times the power steering and brakes don't work. Once the car has stopped and gear placed into park I have been able to turn the ignition and the car restarts. All four times the engine is the only thing that turns off, the radio continues to play.

38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2018

This is a problem is alot of Dodge vehicles with the pentastar engines. The valvetrain is a flawed design and is costing people lots and lots of money. My problem is the roller rocker arm is worn and ticking. Not a big deal right? how about $1900+ parts and labor? we, like most americans, live paycheck to paycheck and rely on our vehicles to get us to and from work. Now, why does a vehicle, with just at 100000 miles, need new camshafts, rocker arms, and lifters? well I'll tell you why. Because Dodge is refusing to recall all these units due to expense. What about my expense? why would they be allowed to not recall this deficient design? just wondering.

39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2018

The vehicle will start but wont go into gear. I have to turn it off and on for it to finally go into gear. Worked fine the next day. This has happened twice within a few weeks. Other than that seems to run fine.

40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2017

In December 2017 said vehicle was towed to the shop for a no start condition. After bringing it in we determined a severe short in the electrical system, traced to alternator. We also found melted battery. Found this vehicle fell under the t36 recall from fca. We got approval at that time to repair the vehicle and received a case number for reimbursement. We had to call back multiple times to continue authorization, and was told as long as the problems were related to the alternator then they would be reimbursed from 30-60 days from the time of submission. After submitting needed paper work and documentation we waited. The customer stopped in in may and asked us to check on it since he had not heard anything yet. Called fca and found out that nothing had been done with the claim because of an internal error that sent the paper work to the wrong department. After calling again on 6/13/18 we found out that again, it had not been filed or sent to the right people. Today (6/13/18) I sent the information again and was promised it would be taken care of. It has now been 6 months from the date of the repair and no effort has been made to reimburse the customer for anything. Fca said it would be handled in 30-60 days. I feel that this is unreasonable. This customer has been very understanding but is running out of patience. We now have 3 different case numbers and I have documentation of talking to 4 different people to resolve the matter. The case numbers that have been assigned are as follows: 1) leunora, # 33018264, 2) contact: barbara, # 34112492, 3) matt, #345530486. I feel that as it is a recall and Chrysler did not have a solution for the problem at the time, and authorized us to repair, they have handled the situation very poorly. Please look into the matter or at least please let me know who I can contact to make a proper complaint. Thank you, eric.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2017

Vehicle alternator started to smoke and catch on fire, after shorting itself out. Vehicle was on the road then parked in driveway. I reported it to Dodge who advised it was on recall (t36). Called Chrysler customer care to report. They set up a tow and advised that they would replace with current model alternator and if needed the pcm and battery. Dealership now stating Chrysler will not cover pcm or battery. Now I have a vehicle at the dealership that wont run with a new alternator . Chrysler care made notes when I first talked with them on this case # 32398928 from customer care. Now they will not admidt that they authorized repair of altornator, pcm , and battery.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2017

My wife along with our 4 children were driving down the expressway when our Dodge Durango lost all power. All the indicator lights started flashing on the instrument panel. If not for my wife being a safe driver god knows what could've become of my family. Car won't turn on says there is no key present. Wipers come on and off, ac blows hot air, doors won't unlock, radio turns on and off. It's very upsetting when you think you're buying a quality vehicle only to have it turn out like it did. My wife has expressed that she no longer wants to drive the vehicle as she is scared something like this might happen again.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. While driving approximately 15 mph, there was a winding noise coming from the passenger side of the vehicle. The contact checked under the hood and noticed a burning odor coming from engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

While driving my car surges at times. I can lose power at any given speed and then suddenly my car will jerk fast. Sometimes when driving slow to go around a roundabout it will just lose power and barely go. While at a stop but in drive, the motor will vibrate. This has been ongoing since I purchased my Durango. Seems to be getting much worse. Only 54,000 + miles on it.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2016

This vehicle was recalled due to a problem with the fuel pump relay which is mounted on the ecu board. We had the repair made in August of 2015. About 4 months after the repair we began having intermittent time status the engine would crank but fail to start or start and run a few seconds and then stop. We found that if you hold the acceleration pedal down while cranking the engine it starts, similar to the days when you had a carburetated engine and it was flooded. Since the problem occurs when the engine is off there is on error code generated so the dealer has not been able to diagnose the problem. I had requested the details of what modifications were made for the recall but the dealer has not provided me with the information. Since we did not have the problem prior to the recall being performed we feel it is a result of what was done to the vehicle. We are now keeping a video log of trying to start the vehicle each time this happens. It seems to be more frequent when it is raining or damp outside.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2016

My car power cut out completely while driving along on the interstate at 75 miles per hour. I was dark and I had to try and pull over with no head lights to a safe place to restart my vehicle 2013 Dodge Durango. This happened several times. I thought that when I got the recalls done it would alleviate the problem, however, that was not the case. I am still having the problem. I called Dodge on the toll free # and they had me take my vehicle to the Dodge dealership and they said my cabin filter, air filter, and fuel something needed to be replaced. This should not shut down the whole car if the filters need to be changed. This problem happened several times, April 22, may 16, may 20, may 28, June 18, June 19 and June 13.

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2016

I purchase my vehicle in 2013 and shortly after recvd several recalls. One recall was repaired in a timely manner, however it took from November 2013 to March 8, 2016 to recv an appointment to complete the additional recalls. Shortly before my appointment my engine light illuminated. When I meet my appointment time at nyle maxwell supercenter in austin TX, I informed them of the engine light. After a week, they informed me that not only the countless recalls that need repair that I also needed a part for my transmission. They have no vehicle for me to loan out to me that meets the same needs as my Durango and have informed me that they may keep my vehicle for another 30 days. .

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2015

Hemet Chrysler Dodge, 240 carriage circle, hemet, CA. 92545, made my appointment to have the fuel pump relay replaced as they said they had the part, and then I go there and wait 2 hours. They come out and said they did not have the part and do not know when they will have it. This is unheard of. I am going on a trip in oct in this vehicle. I would like to know when something is so unsafe how is it the dealers do not seem to care? what are we suppose to do? I was told to keep calling.

50 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

"takata recall"sometimes after the car has been driven long or short drives and turned off for a short period of time, when I go to start the engine the starter will grind/engine turns over but will not start this issue was suppose to be taken care of in the summer of 2015. Dealer had our car for over two months waiting on parts but the issue is starting to occur again!(electrical) also I find at different times the interior lights/gauge lights/indicator lights that are on and stay on for a few miles like there is a short in the electrical system. Note: I have never had a recall on the electrical problem.

51 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Alternator diodes in my vehicle may experience a rapid failure variability in the failure mode ranges from no output, reduced output, and /or fully shorted to ground condition depending on the alternator failure mode and timing, electrical system voltage may drop to critical levels, disabling systems such as abs system, esc system, ecm system and/or the central body controller.

53 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2014

Upon pulling out of my neighborhood from a full stop, the SUV was slow to accelerate. It seemed "sluggish", as if it was not switching to the proper gear and had trouble speeding up. Caused an oncoming car to have to hit the brakes to keep from hitting me, when I should have had plenty of time to pull out, under normal conditions. This has happened numerous times. It also happens while I'm driving down the road and try to speed up. This is an intermittent problem. I have taken it to ferman Dodge twice now, and they tell me that they "hooked it up to the computer and could find nothing wrong with it", and when they test-drove it, they could not reproduce the problem. After researching this online, I have come across others who have also experienced this issue. I bought this vehicle new in November 2013, and it did not do this when I first got it. It now has only 3160 miles on it. I do not feel that it is safe to drive, considering its unpredictability.

54 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2014

On the 2013 Dodge Durango that I currently own which I purchased brand new in June 2013, the navigation and camera system goes completely blank while driving or backing up. The vehicle started accelerating while in drive gear, as well as the transmission fails to work properly and skips second gear, the vehicle also idles high and low while in operation of drive.

55 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

One month after purchasing vehicle, countless problems with brand new vehicle, but the biggest problem is the stuttering, or "fishbite", problem with the mds sensor that operates the active fuel management system. This supposed characteristic, as Chrysler calls it, causes the vehicle to buck and jerk like the engine is going to cut out, between 40-80 mph on level ground and on hills. Brought the vehicle into the dealership for this continuous problem, star case opened, techs from Chrysler consulted and being told that its required to fuel with 89 octane, which is not stated on the sales sticker or the owners manual, which only states recommends 89 octane, not required. Told to disable the eco system to only run on 8 cylinders, which is not why I purchased the vehicle. I purchased it for power, as well as fuel economy on the highway. So this last time I took to the dealership, the service manager disconnected the mds sensor and drove the vehicle, vehicle performed fine, reconnect the mds sensor and the problem continues. Have also been told that the torque converter is locking up, once again a characteristic per Chrysler techs and engineering. So, which lie is the lie and which lie the is the lie. Lied to continuously, have not had calls returned from dealership to know what the status is of my vehicle, plus have continuously been blown off by Chrysler cares group in detroit with my current case filed with Chrysler, just tonight on 29 August 2014, it took me 8 times to contact my case managers because I was told I would be contacted two days ago, but they have been busy. Load of crap, Chrysler does not care!! months ago we received a recall regarding the brake booster. I called my dealership immediately (seeing as properly functioning brakes are important) and was told that the parts weren't in. Months later and I have still heard nothing.

56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2013

I have brought in the vehicle to the local Dodge service center in naples because the lights on the dashboard go off when the wipers are in use. All of the lights including the time / radio station become dim. On December 26th although the lights are set on automatic, the lights did not come on at night. We manually had to switch so that we would have lights. We have also on two-three occasions an issue with the transmission and/or accelarator. The rpm on the car where very high and the car was basically not going over 35-40 mph. Once parked and then put in drive again it worked ok until the next time it did it. The local Dodge service center claim they did not find anything wrong and initially blamed the light issue on a sunpass because they saw the suction cup marks. However the sunpass is not always in this vehicle and the times that lights have dimmed the sunpass has not been on.

57 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2013

Transmission hesitates or "stutters" when going from park to drive and freezes going from 2nd to 3rd gear. Was told there was a "flash update" available and completed. Have taken Durango back to same dealership for the same issue 11/23/13, 06/10/14, and had an appointment on Friday, 07/12/14 but was told by the dearlership they would have to take my information/appointment down on paper then call to reschedule my appointment. It is now 08/05/14, and I have not received one return phone call. The engine will surge to a high rpm while I am coasting at a set speed (usually between 20-45 mph). On the visit date of 06/10/14, service repair shows two flash updates (software 1 & software 2) were completed. There is no communication from Dodge concerning the "flash updates" that the dealership says are necessary to the vehicle running properly.
