134 problems related to exterior lighting have been reported for the 2014 Dodge Durango. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2014 Dodge Durango based on all problems reported for the 2014 Durango.
Rear taillight led bar went out after water entered the light bar through small openings and defective weather stripping. The lights on the Durango are not sealed good enough to prevent water from entering. The light and the rear camera stopped working for the same reason. This is a defect that originated during production and can cause an accident. The consumer should not be responsible for replacing these parts every couple months because of water damage.
Water is/has pooled in the rear tail lamp mounted on the lift gate, causing the led's to not work correctly and short out on the passenger side. I am not alone by my research on Dodge Durango forums. This appears to be a universal problem with most owners whose led's are also shorted out. I am wondering why there has not been a recall, or, if there is, I would appreciate a replacement at no cost to me. The whole assembly needs to be replaced, as these are not repairable. I did not place water in this sealed unit, so how did so many of us get water in there? would appreciate and explanation of why I should have to pay over $1,000. 00 for a factory defect? any reply would greatly be helpful.
Burned out portion of race track lighting on rear of vehicle.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the exterior led lights and reverse lights seized without warning for approximately three months. The contact looked inside the light fixtures and found water. The contact replaced the exterior lighting himself, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000.
Rear racetrack lighting gets damage due to the poor insulation around the housing. Part of the lighting does not work and can cause visablitiy of other drivers to see the vehicle. Dodge has not recall but it should be since it cause failure in a state inspection.
Due to water intrusion, my lower left corner led of the "racetrack" tail lamp has prematurely burned out.
Rear racetrack lighting leaks and led's are burned out.
Because of condensation/standing water in the back racetrack light, the light is now burnt out and Dodge is quoting me $1,100 to fix this issue. It is not covered under any warranty and there is not yet a recall. I contacted Dodge regarding this safety issue and they have offered no resolution or suggestion to help. This is a wide spread issue affecting models year 2010 to present. I am honestly wondering how this has no been addressed yet. When I questioned whether the issue is being fixed on newer models, I got a very generic answer.
Rear raceway taillight has partially gone out. From what I've gathered, this is a common problem with this vehicle due to an engineering design flaw. Water is allowed to penetrate, shorting out raceway light, decreasing visibility from the rear, particularly in adverse and low visibility conditions. This manufacturer flaw should be addressed, corrected and replaced by manufacturer as it is a safety issue.
The rear taillight on the deck light has encounter water intrusion causing the lights to fail and not illuminate. On this vehicle it has occurred a total of four (4) times. Each replacement part has failed. This seems to be a recurring issue with the taillight assembly. Dodge is not covering due to vehicle age even thought this is recurring and the have had to the replace the light assembly four times. Research indicates that this is not an isolated incident but is being experienced by many owners of this product line. Dodge is not taking responsibility due to the vehicle age, however the frequency of occurrence indicates a faulty product on their behalf and leaves the vehicle without the rear taillight assembly working. Failure can happen at any time with no notice, leaving the vehicle vulnerable to rear end collision.
Rear racetrack lights has water in it, and a section of it has already faded out. Took to the dealer and of course not covered by my bumper to bumper and the cost is $1300. I'm so irritated!.
Rear race track light water inside and led light out. Can not get sticker. Moisture in license plate light have had to replace three times. Can not get sticker.
Rear racetrack light bar. Water inside the housing.
Water leaked in and accumulated inside the rear "racetrack" led taillight assembly, causing failure to led lights on the driver side of the assembly. The design of this assembly is clearly flawed due to thousands of reports of this happening. Dodge quoted my $1100 for the replacement part. Absolutely ridiculous.
The design of the 'racetrack' style taillight assembly allows water and water condensation to accumulate within the assembly. This has been replaced under parts warranty for my vehicle 3 times. If these taillights are not warrantied the cost to replace is prohibitive, resulting in many vehicles with reduced rear light visibility.
There is water pooling in my back taillight bar. This has made the taillight bar go out.
Water pooling in the lower section of taillight also condensation in the upper part of the taillight.
Left side of racetrack light is pooling water. Vehicle has 58,900 miles.
Rear lighting will accumulate moisture inside housing eventually burning out led elements. This results in drivers being unable to see vehicle from the rear as well as citations for nonfunctioning equipment.
First issue is back racetrack lenses is full of water causing bulbs to blow out. Secondly, and most scarey was driving at 50 mph and car starts making loud noises on dash(that alone scarey enough to create a crash)but the looses power and barely can steer vehicle to side of rt. 27,then started back up. I am a single mom of 2 boys,(one which I rely on this vehicle to transport to many doctor appointments. )last thing I need is a horrible accident. Please listen to all these complaints as if it were your family and try to address the safety of your consumers.
Takata recall standing water and bugs are inside my rear light bar on my truck. From rain water and now my light on the driver side in the rear is out.
Led lighting bar on tailgate showed signs of moisture, and then lights went out completely, including the license plate lights. Vehicle was stationary, watched lights flicker, then go out when car was auto started.
I'm having issues with my trunk led lights. It's not working properly water leaks inside the light and it's cause the light to go out. I researched the problem and it seems like a lot of people are having the same exact is.
It has been raining and the lighting system housing unit has filled with water. I had not used the vehicle in several days. I noticed it in a parking lot.
Water has pooled up in the lower right led housing and shorted out the lights in that particular area. At one point the whole led strip went out on the lift gate. I didn't know it happened until I smelt a strong electrical fire smoke scent and started looking around to find the source. Water continues to pool on both sides of the led racetrack taillights.
Rear tailgate racetrack light has a leak. Water entered the right-hand side and shorted out the led bulb. There is currently water in the light fixture. There is also evidence of black charring due to the electrical short. I have read numerous complaints about this issue on-line.
Water is entering into my racetrack taillight and staying there at the bottom right of my lighting unit anytime it rains. This is causing my left lower racetrack lighting to flicker on and off. Dealership trying to charge over 1100 to replace the whole unit.
Water inside rear taillight assembly from rain.
Rear racetrack lighting has filled with water from rain and shorted out the l. E. D's.
Leaking water in and around the seals of lights causing them not to work. Defective seals. These are in the rear. Already had to replace light in front for same problem about 1 or 1 1/2 years ago.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the race track lighting on the rear of the vehicle retained water. As a result, the rear lights did not work properly. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to central avenue Chrysler Dodge ram (1839 central park Ave, yonkers, NY 10710, (866) 671-0682) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was built without a rubber seal over the lights. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to buy another light before they could repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was 137,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that a puddle of water was notice under the rear passenger side of the vehicle. Upon inspection it was discovered that water had leaked into the rear race track light assembly. After removing a bolt from the assembly the water was trained from the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,000. Jft.
There is water coming into the back "racetrack" lights, causing leds to go bad, causing burnt led lights. And bad visibility.
Takata recall: when I first bought my vehicle I noticed that there was water pooling inside the rear racetrack lighting in the bottom right corner. A portion of the racetrack lighting was going out due to the water. Luckily the dealership was willing to replace it for us and did (so they say). We've had the new one in for about a year and just recently noticed that there is water pooling across the entire lighting now. A bigger portion of the light is starting to go out on the right side again and I'm afraid that it will start to affect the rest of the components on the hatch. And I'm assuming it will soon go completely out.
When we first brought the vehicle home from the dealership we noticed that there was water pooling inside the rear racetrack lighting in the bottom left corner. After a day or two the racetrack lighting went out due to the water. Luckily the dealership was willing to replace it for us and did. We've had the new one in for about 6 months and just recently noticed that there is water pooling in the bottom right corner of the lighting now. The light is starting to flicker and I'm assuming it will soon go out.
