1 Battery problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2012

The automatic door locks stop working. This has been discussed on the internet quite a bit. The problem is that the door will not lock or unlock with the key fob or door switch. The also do not automatically lock when the car starts moving thus creating a safety concern for kids riding in the back. Removing the negative battery terminal resets it so that it works again briefly. The problem recurs again after a brief time.

2 Battery problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2011

System will beep, dash lights and guages will flash and go dead. Door looks also stop working. One incident of battery being drained to nothing, no emergency standby power for starting. Many reports of the bcm module being the cause. Can be temporarily fixed by pulling the iod fuse to reset the bcm. Dodge TSB 08-040-04 reported to outline the problem. Replacing the bcm not always reported to fix. Flashing the bcm(updating code) more commonly reported to fix, also mention of corroded contacts being related. Repair is hard to determine as any work done on the bcm will result in a reset where it will temporarily start working again.

3 Battery problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2011

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated the keyless entry remote malfunctioned causing the contact to open the doors manually. The contact replaced the battery to the keyless entry; however, it had not remedied the failure. The contact did not call the manufacturer regarding the keyless entry remote. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 112,000.

4 Battery problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2010

Electric locks: after 36000 miles and no more warranty on the vehicle the power locks quit working. I found that pulling the battery would resolve the issue for a short while but it would come back again and that doing this could cause issues with how the engine ran for a while and of course the radio and clock would have to be reset. After researching the issue I found that this is known issue and that it would require a firmware upgrade on the vehicle on board computer. The manufacterer nor dealer would do this at no cost. It cost me $85. 00 to get the update. I do not feel this is right and only hope that others will file complaints to get Dodge to correct this and re-imburse their customers who have had to do this. As for me, this is my third Dodge and will no longer buy another.

5 Battery problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2010

Recently my power door locks quit on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, when trying to activate it either by my key or from the door panel. I gave it to my mechanic who fixed the problem. . The same problem recurred a week later. I was quite upset for paying money for a simple problem which was not fixed. The mechanic told me to disconnect the power from the battery (for at least 15 minutes) and then reconnect the battery. The power door locks now work. However this problem could happen again. I did a search on this problem on the web and found many other people complaining about this exact problem on the 2005 Grand Caravan. The correct solution seems to be going to a dealer. But I will not pay for a manufacturing defect ( and this defect is definitely a safety and security problem). This problem should be under a recall order.

6 Battery problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2010

We have 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, the lights on the van keeping turning on when opening the door they stay on for a long time, then they shut off and during the day they turn on by themselves and even in the middle of the night because the battery will loose power after it happens so many times, have not been able to find the problem, went by Dodge dealerships and they say they have never heard of such complaint.

7 Battery problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2010

Electronic door lock and unlock feature fails. There are only 2 doors where a manual key entry is available, the drivers door and tailgate. This also disables opening the sliding side doors as they won't automatically unlock. Also disabled are the automatic door locking at speed for safety. You can temporarily fix this by disconnecting the fuse or battery for a short time and reconnecting. There are numerous complaints on the internet about this problem. Dodge should fix this on a recall.

8 Battery problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2009

The headlights come on and go off on their own. Sometimes they won't come on. Sometimes they won't go off. They have come back on and killed the battery. They have even gone off while I was driving down the road at night in a rainstorm. This is very dangerous.

13 Battery problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

14 Battery problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2007

I recently had my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, 28000 miles, serviced only to find out that my front brakes are 100% gone, my throttle body is plugged up, and I had no power steering fluid. Of course, as the dealership tells me, the warranty does not cover any of these repairs that need to be done.
