My vehicle lost all power while driving. No power steering, no power brakes. It has done this four times! Feb 2013, June 2013, July 2014, and Feb 2015. I recived recall r03/NHTSA 14v-373 and l25 / NHTSA 14v-373 and contacted kings Chrysler Jeep Dodge (dealer from whom I purchased the vehicle) in February 2015 and they are reporting they still do not have a replacement part as of July 16, 2015. They told me I am one of 200 and offered no timeframe for the repair. I will not drive this vehicle because I am afraid it will fail and result in a catastrophic wreck where others, my passengers or I may be killed!.

Failure Date: 11/09/2013

The van completely shut down while I was in the middle of making a u turn. The engine, the electrical just stopped working and the steering wheel got really tight but I was able to glide to the side of the road. I turned the key to the off position put the van in park and then I was able to restart it. I took it to Dodge and they repaired the power steering saying that was the problem. Not so, this has happened 3 times since the first and nothing has been done to repair the problem. Today is 8/29/2014 and I am stranded because it won't turn on at all. Waiting for aaa.

40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2013

I had the win module and the gear shift assembly replaced 11 months ago. Complained and Chrysler refunded the $1200 charge. Currently the car shifts by itself into first or second gear while driving. I called the dealership and they say that is not related to the work listed above! these issues are all inter related and I should not have to pay again to have the car shift properly!.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2012

I am experiencing electrical problems with the 2008 Grand Caravan. The van cuts off while moving. The lights blink. The radio suddenly turns on. Sometimes the doors will not unlock. The problems all appear to be related to the computer malfunctioning in the van. The may cause an accident if the van loses power and control while driving.

On numerouse occasions my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt will shut down unexpectantly while driving. Plugs, wires and battery have been changed. Thanks Dodge.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2012

Driving the vehicle on a residential street. Engine quit suddenly and unexpectedly. Steering and brakes failed. Vehicle went off the road, over the curb and came to a stop. No property damage or bodily harm. If we had been traveling at highway speeds, fear of death would have been a real concern. The engine would not start for approximately a minute after the incident. Engine finally started and the vehicle was taken to a Dodge dealership. Diagnosed as a 'bad win module' (wireless ignition node). The technician actually guessed the problem was the win module before diagnosing the problem. He said it was a 'fairly common problem'. An online investigation revealed this part has a recall associated with it in the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan (our Dodge Grand Caravan is a 2008). The reason I am writing the NHTSA is the newly replaced win module is clearly a redesigned part. It looks and functions differently than the old, faulty win module. If Dodge redesigned the part, they must have assumed the earlier design was defective in some way. To justify the need for a redesign, there had to be some driving factor like improved safety. It is my belief that this defect had the real potential of causing death and I am requesting the NHTSA investigate this matter. Am I the first to have lodged a complaint regarding this part? thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Intermittent electrical issues - fails to start; interior dash panel lights, driver side passenger door not closing, drivers door not locking - all intermittent.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2012

The vehicle randomly shuts off completely as you are driving down the road. It has happened several times and most recently happened while my wife was going 40 mph down the road. It seems to be getting worse.

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2012

We are a used car dealership that recently bought a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with 118,000 miles on it. A customer was driving the vehicle when the incident occurred. After the vehicle was driven approximately 5 miles and placed in their garage, the customer noticed some smoke/steam coming from the vents. The customer assumed it was associated with the air conditioning and went into the house only to return a moment later to check on the van and at that time noticed a massive amount of smoke coming from the vehicle. The customer quickly backed the van out of the garage, turned it off and called the fire department. By the time the fire department made the brief trip to the customers' house, the van was completely burnt. There is some damage to the siding on the house as well. Luckily no one was injured and the customer was able to get the van out of the garage. Everything is completely burnt in the van-even the glass curled and melted because of the heat. Chrysler has been made aware of the issue.

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

My 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan has intermittent trouble starting. The starter has been replaced twice, and the win module (and key) have been replaced. The same issue has been occurring, but never duplicates for the dealership. Their computer scan brings up no issues. The battery has been tested and is in good condition. It doesn't matter the time of day, or driving circumstances, the van will not always start. It will have one click (and I can close the windows, turn on radio) but the van will not start.

50 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2012

The engine died and would not turn back on while driving. Suspect this is due to faulty ignition win control module or ignition system . Nearly caused a crash. Was able to slow down (lost brakes, and power steering) and pull to side of the road avoiding being hit by other cars. Tried starting the vehicle several times it then started again. ( took to dealership and they changed out our fob/key thing. And seemed to fix the issue. Most recently 3/12/14 parked, attempted to restart vehicle 10 min later and the key will not turn over the engine. (plastic fob type key) no starter noise. ( lights work, key in ignition warning ding occurs. Lights turn on but no radio, or engine start. Will not restart now.

51 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2011

When unlocking the van, the horn starting blowing and the windshield wipers started going. After driving a few blocks, the van went into 2nd gear at 4000 rpm. A mile later, the engine cut off while driving down the road and I barely got off the road in traffic. A few weeks before this the heater did not work one evening. Following that incident there was an episode of the horn blowing, windshield wipers going, and the washer fluid emptied. There have been about 10 incidents similar to these. The first incident was in a parking lot. When I returned to the car from shopping, it was obvious that the windshield wipers had turned themself on. It took 15 minutes for the incident of horn blowing and windshield wipers and washer fluid going to clear itself. Disconnecting the battery did not make the horn and windshield wipers stop concerned about van stopping while driving. This is a serious safety issue.

52 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2011

While driving down the road at slow speed in the neighborhood, the car randomly shuts off. The power steering, the power brakes and the engine stop working. It is happening now more frequently - twice today and my wife and kids nearly had a head on accident. Luckily the other car was able to swerve to miss our van otherwise there would have been a head-on. I took the car to my dealership several times over the last few months based on a recall notice that was issued for the van. I was told that they do not have the parts to fix it and that they have no idea when the parts will be available. How many people need to be hurt by this issue before they start delivering the parts to fix it?.

53 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2011

While driving down the road, vehicle will suddenly shutoff and horn will blare and windshield wipers will become active. Other times, the lights will flicker and become inoperative at night. Most likely to shut off when negotiating a turn. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer 8 times for this issue but they have been unable to recreate the situation and such unable to diagnose. There are many instances across the country on review boards and discussion websites with the same symptoms but the dealer is still unwilling to diagnose.

54 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for a yearly inspection, and the contact was advised that the engine power pressure hose was leaking fluid. The manufacturer filed a report and stated that her vehicle was not included in the recall for the power pressure hose replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. 56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2008

I have a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. I purchased the vehicle in June 2008 with 16,xxx miles on it. I have put less than 4,000 miles on the vehicle. 1) the vehicle first failed to start in the first part of July, called Chrysler to come for a boost as it appear battery had gone out, when service arrived in parking lot at work, the vehicle started. I drove the vehicle to gator Chrysler in melbourne, they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. 2) vehicle would not start (believe the date was July 30th). Vehicle was taken to gator Chrysler again but had error codes they could follow. The vehicle would not start again until they put in a watch spring which they were certain that the vehicle was fixed. 3) vehicle was being driven down a dark road at approximately 9pm when vehicle completely lost all power and shut the engine off and all electrical without any warning and would not restart. Manager of service at gator would not contact the Chrysler representative as he believes all rights were lost as I had purchased a used vehicle. The fact that I purchased a used vehicle does not constitute it being ok for the entire vehicle to shut-down without warning and risk the loss of lives. I cannot believe this to be an isolated case with just this van and if so, shouldn't it then fall under the lemon law.
