When speed control is on and active at highway speed, when going down a hill the transmission will downshift 3rd gear level very hard and the engine will go into a high rpm rev. Turned off speed control or stepping on the brakes this condition continued for 30 seconds. Took car to dealership, there was no check engine light or error codes in the computer or any factory recall on this condition. This problem happened multiple times. Dealership has to get in touch with factory to get help with this problem. Can't use speed control where hills are involved, or not at all. This option or function is bad! the consumer was told not to use the speed control and to shut it off when traveling down hill. But, it was ok to use up hills or on level roads. The vehicle could shut off when the engine revving is too high, but it was not a safety issue. Having no power brakes or steering was definitely a safety issue. Chrysler informed the consumer they were going to look into possible software updates or a mechanical fix to correct the problem. They did not feel it would be a quick fix, so the consumer would have to live with the defect. Updated 07/13/10.
