The first time this happened I was (June 22, 2020) on my way home from the dealership where I had just purchased the vehicle. I purchased it from out of state so it was about a 400 mile drive home. I was coming to a stop light and the brakes stiffened and didn't work. Also the power steering was gone. Luckily, I was able to pull over and turn the car off and then turn it back on again. A brake light was flashing on the dash so, I pressed the parking brake release twice and restarted it again. After I did this the car seemed fine. I drove home very carefully and called the dealer. They said to take it to the closest dealer to my house. I did the next day (June 23, 2020). The only problem code they found was in the brakes so they replaced those parts. I went home thinking that all was fixed. I drove the vehicle another 500+ miles in the next week without any problems. Then on July 4th it happened again, no brakes or power steering. I was lucky again in that I could pull over and restart the car. I took it in to the dealer when they opened on July 6th. They found no problem code and said until they had it happen while they were driving it, there was nothing they could do. The first time this happened I was driving downhill slowing down to a stoplight. The second time I was driving downhill and slowing for traffic when I noticed it. I was lucky that I was not on fast highways when this happened.

I had an accident yesterday when trying to park the car accelerated to the point that I hit a garage door damaging the car inside, all while my foot was on the brake pedal pressing very hard. When I put the car in reverse while my foot was on the brake the car shoot back at tremendous speed, it would not stoped regardless of my foot pressing on the brake as far as the brake goes. I hit a car parked on the street with such force that pushed it on top of the sidewalk causing extensive damage. I,was,,traveling up 38th street in union city and in the process of parking a my friend's driveway, turning from the street while applying the brakes lightly. I believe the problem is on the accelerator, it acceleratedm on its own when I attempted to stop. The car is right now at a shop, they will run a diagnostic and send an estimate of the body damage. I have contacted my insurance company for them to have the car mechanical functions. Probably a broken axel on the rear wheels.

The brake switches on these vehicles may malfunction, keeping the brake lights illuminated. This is the same warning in the recall for 2017 Dodge caravans, yet my VIN is not included in the recall, and Chrysler is refusing to fix. The current recall says " Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain 2017 Dodge caravan and Jeep wrangler vehicles. The brake switches on these vehicles may malfunction, keeping the brake lights illuminated and/or allowing the vehicle to be shifted out of the park position without the brake pedal being pushed. ".

The traction control light flashes while driving and the van will decelerate while driving. This happens while driving the vehicle. Every time driving the vehicle.

2011 Dodge caravan purchased 3/2017. Motor had a slight knocking sound took it back to dealer they sent me to their mechanic. I was assured that it was fine. Then brakes went really low and did not stop right. Told it was a master cylinder. Installed that then it happened again so was told that it was a bad master cylinder. Installed another one. Did not fix the problem after a few days. ????? then I was told we needed a brake booster. Installed that and it did seem like that was it fixed, then the brake light came on and brake pedal went low. Now it has a very horrible sound and the trany at times does not want to shift and the rpm's go up and I have to pull over and shut off the vehicle and turn it back on and it will shift. ???? electronical. ??? I have read complaints on NHTSA and I feel like Dodge should repair the brakes and the trany problem. From what I can read it is a defective part of the programming. The horrible nosie when you pull off, I dont know what it is but sounds bad. . I called Dodge dealership right after I bought the van and they were very rude and said there were not any recalls for this 2011 van and I see that there is and some says complete. Well if they are complete seems to me like it needs to be repaired again because it is doing what I see that people are complaining about. I owe nearly 14,000 on this van. . Doge/Chrysler should make it good. The complete on the recalls like I said is not complete. Please help me if you can. I dont have much faith after the person at the Dodge dealership was so rude to me, but maybe you all there can help me get it repaired. This is a safety issue. The windows sometimes dont want to come down and yall have something about it might catch on fire. The keybob will not open the side doors.

At only 58,000 miles, the anti lock brake modular failed. Chrysler warranty covers 70,000 miles or 7 years, which ever comes first. There is a serious problem with Chrysler vehicle brake modules. Brake warning light and other lights went on in dashboard. While driving in the rain, vehicle does not stop as it should when the anti lock system is working.

I bought a Dodge Grand Caravan 2014 in January 2014 new with 7 miles on it. In April 2014, at the top of a hill, my brakes went out, it had approximately 100 miles on it. My brake failure light went on and my brakes did not work. They took the van in and found a part defect caused it - the brake diaphragm was defective. If we had been going any faster we could have been killed.

Antilock brake warning light stays on for more than 8 hours system was off line and not operable. Next day warning light came on and than went off. This has happened several other times placing the antilock braking system off than on again. I believe the antilock braking system of this Dodge caravan was/is defective at the time of manufacture of this vehicle.

On 6/27/2010 my family and myself were traveling to hackensack mn on hwy 371 and when I attempted to pass a slow moving vehicle my Mini van kept increasing in speed. No injuries happened I calmly got it to stop but I had to pull off to the side of the road and shut off the engine. The cruise was on but not activated. I tried to hit the cancel switch hit the on off switch all the time pushing the brake pedal. The skid protection light and brake light came on and the brakes heated up really bad but I was able to stop. The engine would not stop racing and the lights would not go out until I shut down the engine on the side of the road. We then continued our trip with no more incidents and I did try to get it to happen again with no luck.
Total brake failure on 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. Rear brake line ruptured were solid line meets braided line under driver side of car and near anti lock brake module. Loss of braking forced me to drive vehicle onto someone's lawn to avoid a rear end impact of a car making a left turn on a single lane road. Emergency brake was used to stop the vehicle. Failure was abrupt with no prior visual evidence of leaking on my driveway or in the parking spot of my workplace. Red brake light came on after it was too late. Rear brake lines were replaced with solid lines at a cost of $290. 00. Repair was completed on 06/21/10.

Brake light flashed a few times. Within one week of light sporadically flashing the brakes started to grind, metal to metal. The van is only 14months old with 10,000 miles. Out of warranty because of time length (missed by only two months). Chrysler would not fix so had to repair at own expense. Brake pads replaced and rotors turned. Researched on-line and this is a very common complaint/problem on this make/model and year.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact has been experiencing brake failures and the brake indicator would illuminate sporadically without warning. While driving 30 mph, the brake light illuminated and the contact attempted to stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal. The brake pedal extended to the floor. The contact crashed into the rear end of the preceding vehicle. The vehicle was severely damaged. The air bags failed to deploy and a police report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle had to be towed to his residence. The insurance company will send someone to inspect the vehicle. The contact received a ticket for "failure to keep a vehicle in control". He will callthe manufacturer because the brakes had to be repaired at least four times within the last two years. The failure mileage was 85,000.

Incident occurred Aug 2008. The owners manual and dealer service manager report brakes revert back to standard brakes and vehicle can be driven. This is not so!!! in my following experience, when abs light comes on, vehicle should not be driven. I had front disk pads replaced by an independent mechanic. After 2 days, the abs light came on. Owners manual, confirmed by service manager reports brakes default back to standard brakes. Not true. Brakes were slightly engaged and overheating. I was told it may take up to 5000 miles for new brake pads to "break in" and not to worry. Applying my brakes resulted in pedal going to floor and a grinding noise coming from under the hood. This was later determined to be the master abs module. Dealer inspection resulted in a defective abs signal sensor to the rear left brake. Replacement cured all of the above problems. This vehicle and perhaps all others of this type should not be driven when the abs light comes on.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan the anti-lock brake light came on. The dealer had to replace brake module and the right front wheel sensor.
Exiting highway at 43 mph depressed brake pedal 2 times with no braking action observed. Slowed to 35 mph and tried pedal 1 more time with no stopping action. Used transmission and engine compression to slow vehicle. Coasted to a stop and noticed smoke eminating from rear of vehicle with the "smell" of brakes prevalent. No interior brake light illuminated at any time. Fix: replaced rear wheel cylinders and shoes (excessive wear noted), and drums turned. Probable cause unidentified (excessive wear unusual for highway miles driven - front brakes all normal) felt to me like master cylinder failure with resulting zero pressure in system and no braking action at all.
