We had to have the entire braking system completely replaced on our vehicle. It had 26,100 miles on it at the time of the repair. They were not covered under warranty. This work was done on 10/05/04. I was involved in a minor car accident on 8/21/04 and think that the failing brakes hindered my ability to stop in time.

After hurricane frances, I noticed that when I got into my car,( that had sat in the storm outside my home,) to drive two days after the storm , my brakes did not work properly . It was as if the abs was ingaged and suddenly grabbed. My husbands car did the same thing. So I think it is a daimlerchrysler issue. The same day as this occured, after about four or five miles it got better and I have had no noticeable problems.

Started 2001 Grand Caravan ex after shopping run,abs and traction control check lights remained on. Pulled over twice and restarted, same lights stayed on. Vehicle had 26,078 miles on it when this occurred. Checked brake fluid level,o. K. Luckily for our family, the vehicle still had enough brake pedal pressure, though compromised (squishy, not firm, secure and controlled as it was prior to the occurrence), and the brakes could still be used to stop vehicle. Check the vehicle again after a few hours(checked brake fluid again, abs fuse checked-out o. K. ,started vehicle)no change. No change the next day.

Vehicle had been parked for 48 hours when I was informed that it was on fire. The vehicle engine area was completely engulfed in flames, it had not been started or used at all since it was parked. Vehicle was a total loss. Our county arson task force investigator concluded it was caused by a faulty anti-lock brake system.
Consumer states while braking have extended stopping, notified the dealer repaired and replaced rotors 5000 miles later problem recurred. Ts.
When trying to apply brakes brake pedal will go to the floor, causing extended stopping distance. Dealer notified.

The entire braking system is insufficient for a vehicle of this weight. These Mini vans simply will not stop unless braking components are new and cool. After nominal low speed city driving, the braking system suffers severe fading. I seriously doubt if the system, when warm, has enough muscle to lock the tires if the antilock system were to be temporarily disabled or disconnected. Nhtsa engineers: test these brakes warm with the antilock defeated. They are not strong enough to lock the tires! the manufacturer has "hidden" and anemic braking system with the antilock.
Anti-lock brake pulsated violently. There was a service bulletin for this condition, however, dealership claimed too many miles on vehicle to perform repairs.
I purchased a new 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan on 10/6/01. Within a week I experienced a sudden and swift drop in brake pressure when stopped at a stop sign or traffic light. The dealer was unable to duplicate problem and said come back if problem persists. I returned the vehicle again at 5 weeks of ownership for the same problem. I again was told that they were unable to duplicate problem, and that this is the way a Grand Caravan "breaks in" by the service manage evona hartzell. I returned my vehicle again at 6 months for a week, a factory rep drove my car exactly five miles and declared the brakes in perfect working order, he did no other inspection. The van was back in the service department one week later for the fourth time for the same problem. All four visits totalling over 12 days for the same problem that they claim they can not duplicate therefore no repair is necessary. At 8 months of ownership the drop in brake pressure is now occuring during the braking process as well as when stopped for a period of time. The problem is worsening and the dealer refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem with my vehicle. I can provide you with detailed documentation at your request.
Extended distance when braking for stoplight. First time left vehicle in the intersection(8/15/01). Second time brakes made a chatter noise and pulled to the left, was able to stop after stepping on brakes three times. Dealer unable to identify a problem after first inspection.
While pulling out of driveway brake system locked up and prevented movement of vehicle. Consumer then shut vehicle off, and turned it back on, which allowed brakes to release and vehicle to move. Dealership has not examined vehicle. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
Brakes were pulsating when applied, pedal felt hard, reduced braking distance. Mechanic found front rotors were rusting from inside out.
Traveling 25 mph-brakes made loud chatter. . . Pedal stiff, stopped 2 car lengths past stop sign. Dealer can not duplicate, so says "nothing is wrong. ".
Minivan's dashlight warnings for airbags/abs(and related equip:horn/cruise control-inoperative) appeared. Took auto to Chrysler dealer for diagnosis. Dealer service dept. Stated defective item: clockspring device, and not a warranty covered part/service part, therefore customer liable for repair. .

While driving could step on the brakes pedal to stop and brakes will start making noise, and will skip. Rotors had to be fixed four times.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
Consumer was traveling about 35mph on highway and went to apply brakes and there was a loud streaking noise. He took vehicle to the dealership. Mechanic told him that brakes and rotors were bad. Dealership replaced the brakes. The customer states that recall on rotors and brakes is over due because the problem had existed and the manufacturer is aware of it since 1996.
Slider door locks failure-left does not lock even manually; right will not unlock except manually. A/c compressor failed - always smelled antifreeze until failure. Dodge will do nothing to help defray major cost. Wipers come on/off whenever they want especially when cold. Can put into drive/reverse w/o braking. Numerous other misc problems-brakes, transmission, front end.
When the brakes were applied down hill pedal went to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer will inspect the vehicle.
When appyling brakes in normal conditions abs system activated until the vehicle has stopped, cause unknown. A complete brake job was done to correct the problem.
When driving at low rate of speed and upon depressing brake pedal to make a gradual stop, abs system kicked in, causing poor braking performance, and resulting in extended stopping distance. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has yet to replace parts.
The abs hydraulic system failed and vehicle could not be stopped quickly. Yh.
Had problems with brakes. Took to mechanic to have them pulled. Noticed the rotors were corroded/rusted & pitted. Was informed rotors not usable & needed replacing.
Abs and traction control has taken more than a month.
Braking distance is not what it should be, mostly when applying brakes at speeds of 60-65 mph. Took vehicle into dealer at least 6 times, dealer could not remedy problem. The brakes malfunctions.
While driving and applying brakes, abs brakes hesitate/fail.
Upon traveling about 20 to 25 mph and upon making a gradual stop the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard, making it very difficult to stop the vehicle, resulting in extended stopping distance. Consumer has yet to contact the dealer.
While driving at 25 mph and going down a hill, consumer applied the brakes and they were smoking, forcing the consumer to pull over to the side of the road. Also, windshield wipers were working intermittently, and dealer could not determine the cause.
Poor abs performance, during normal braking situations periodically the brake pedal will become hard, and not go down. Dealer can not find any problems .
Consumer states that you can hear a grinding noisie when you apply the brakes. The system has abs. New brakes put on at (13, 000) miles.
