Significant oil leak on 2016 Grand Caravan due to oil filter housing crack. Mechanic was careful not to over torque and leak did not occur until outside temperatures dropped below zero. Leak was discovered while vehicle was stationary bc of large puddle of oil. Vehicle is unsafe to drive.

Vehicle was parked in driveway 7/9/20. I did not enter the van again until 7/11/20. Upon opening the driver's door I noticed the headrest had deployed. I understand this is a safety feature when you are in a rear end collision. There was no collision van was backed in driveway and stationary. It appears the brackets that hold the pin are broke. The passage headrest did not deploy, but iam now fearfull it may.

On this 2015, florida based, Dodge Grand Caravan with 58,640 miles, the passenger side active head restraint deployed with the car parked in the driveway and no one in it. It could not be reset as the thin plastic bracket that held a metal restraining bar in place disintegrated under the pressure of the deployment spring and released. In fact it appeared that multiple plastic parts had broken. Checking the internet, this appears to have happened in hundreds of other vehicles in multiple models and model years and Dodge/Chrysler has made no attempt to fix the problem or warn the owners. There are also at least two separate law firms pursuing class action lawsuits regarding this. There also appear to be hundreds of complaints on this site. If this happened on the driver's side while the car was in motion, an accident could have resulted. The Dodge dealer said they have no obligation to fix this and that replacing each head restraint would cost close to $900. They also could not say the driver's side head restraint wouldn't also deploy unexpectedly. One wonders if there haven't already been significant or even fatal accidents related to this. Getting hit by the headrest would cause injury alone this appears poorly designed. The idea of putting a thin plastic bracket under constant strong spring pressure for years is just asking for trouble, especially for vehicles in florida where temperatures in parked vehicles can remain well over 120 all day. How can thin plastic be expected to take this for the life of the vehicle? these parts should be metal. I pushed the deployed headrest back together and secured it with two cable zip ties. As Dodge can't tell me if the other headrest won't also deploy, I have also secured it with cable zip ties to guard against its unexpected deployment. Where is the NHTSA in all this? at least change the design.

While driving, cars engine turns to accessory, no power steering. Have to stop car and restart. This is an issue with the win module and key fob ignition and should have been part of a recall but, it slipped through the cracks and the manufacturer will not realize the fact that my car was built on may 26th 2010 and should have a recall applied to vehicles built through June 18, 2010. Which mine was but, my VIN number reports no issue. I've contacted Dodge and they have not authorized the dealership to cover any costs. This has almost caused accidents 3 times now. It sickens me how big dealerships can get away with negligence and allow possible deaths because of mistakes and not following proper recall procedures. Shop won't get me in until weeks later and will not do anything until they charge me diagnostic fees even though this is/was a known issue. I've wasted hours on the phone with Dodge and the dealership and I'm sure the dealership is about to rip me off with diagnostic fees trying to replicate this known issue. Please force Dodge to re-investigate their work of the recalls of this model before other people with this missed recall issue get hurt. Here is some information which may help speed up this process: NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 NHTSA campaign number: 11v139000 thank you in advance for your time and efforts. Sincerely, travis dusharm.
When I got home from work on 09. 30. 18 and parked we noticed oil leaking underneath the van. When we took the van to our mechanic, because it was over 36,000 miles, 36,208 miles to be exact, he discovered a cracked oil filter housing. He let us know that it was a problem he had repaired on several other vans just like ours. When he called a dealership to get a replacement part he was told that the part was back-ordered because the dealership was out of stock. They had also had to replace multiple oil filter housings and couldn't keep the part in stock. Our mechanic called all over washington state and got the same answer from every dealership. He finally went online and found a replacement part. My van went into the shop on 10. 01. 18 and is still there. The part won't be delivered until 10. 09. 18 so I will have been without a vehicle for over a week. Please start a campaign/recall on this problem. Our mechanic also said that unfortunately the replacement part is exactly the same part as what is already on the vehicle, a plastic plastic housing, and that when he replaces it there is a chance that it will crack again. We need a replacement for this part that will not crack and need to be replaced again. This is a difficult part to replace as it require removing the manifold to get to it, consequently it will cost me over $600. 00 to get it fixed!!.
Van started shaking violently while driving. Gets worse when I release the gas and when I put on the breaks. The shop has found that both the motor mounts and transmission mounts are broken. They said it is a known problem with this van and it is un safe to drive. Also wire harnesses in sliding doors wont stay in the track.

I had been laughing with the people of this school bus company which is close by to me named lorinda bus or logan bus CO inc there at 100 st and atlantic av there about how they extended their parking lot upward there onto an old lirr track there that has not been used and is all rusty with broken cement and like other broken and old things there and they extended the parking lot for their buses there at 100 st and atlantic av there upward to like the top of this lirr track there which I found to be an odd location. I mean some questions were in my mind like could the 14 buses or 18 buses that they put up there on the old lirr track there stay up there with all of the huge buses parked up there on the track there. No, the lirr track there is not used anymore there beginning south from like 99 st and liberty avenue there and the old lirr track is maintained by nyc dcas or the mayor's office there. Lots of rusty and old and falling apart things there on that railroad track there of the lirr there. But with the old lirr track there at atlantic av and 100 st should they use that area up there, as I saw on a google map there to park 14-18 of their buses. Yes, the google map showed them extending their parking lot to the top of the lirr tracks there and they could park more buses as shown on the google map there. Do you think it is safe of lorinda or logan there to put like those buses parked up there all 14-18 of them up there on the old lirr track up there to be parked or no? the old lirr tracks are really falling apart, talking about the rust and all of that. Use google street view and you can see the rust in some parts of those bridges there.

My front brakes have to be changed every three months , my van will stall or act like its going to stall I have to give it gas and after I move for a few it stops, my van is constantly out of line which wears on the tires ,the metal coolant lines that go for the rear heat was rusted and corroded badly causing a huge leak , also the transmission cooler bracket locates in front of radiator broke causing a hole in the radiator, this has not only happened in my 2004 Grand Caravan but also in my elderly parents 2004 caravan. After reading through all the complaints I do understand that things will happen and go wrong and have to be fixed but when the dealership or the manufacturer doesn't show any interest in wanting to help the consumer theres not much a person can do that is until someone gets hurt and I can guarantee if it happens to be my family there will be an enormous law suit with a lot of publicity lets see how sales do after I get done.

My husband was driving the van on dirt roads and then he heard a clunk, after taking it to the garage it was found that the axle had cracked and broke. We had to have it replaced.
I brought my 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan to a dealership for an inspection. Front and rear brakes were replaced and an egr valve was replaced in order for it to pass inspection. Before the repairs were done I was getting approximately 20 miles to the gallon. This also showed up on the interior electronic information center. After the repairs were done, my interior electronic info center indicated I was getting approximately 10 miles to the gallon. I confirmed this by the "old fashion way" of filling the tank and driving then filling it again and dividing the miles by the number of gallons. This confirmed that I was getting aprox 10 miles per gallon. I called the dealership and to this date have had no response. I'm also continuing to keep track of the mileage and amount of fuel I'm using. The same thing happened with my wife's Dodge journey. . Read more...

The serpentine belt that runs the car jumped off track the first Monday in October when it was raining. I first noticed my power steering went out. Then a few minutes later it over heated. So when I got under the hood to find out what the problem was, it was the belt it was not broken just off track. Had it fixed. The same thing happened again on October 25, 2003 some 3-4 weeks later. Again it was raining. The person who fixed it the 2nd time states that every time it rains and if I get water in my undercarraige it is going to pop off. This is very discouraging, I am the single mother of four young girls and I should not be afraid to drive my van when it is raining. Can someone please make some sense out of this for me.
