I can be driving at 40- 50 miles an hour and it just shuts down. The power steering goes out and brake light sometimes comes on. I can't steer it. Once I was in a curve on a narrow road when this happened and I almost ran off the road. At times when I'm going about 30 miles an hour and it just stops on me. It will start right back up. It has happened at least 3 times. Sometimes it will start up and immediately die. At other times it will start and run fine.

While slowing down from 20 mph to make turn, engine shuts off with no warning lights or codes stored.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while her mother was turning into the driveway the vehicle shut off. The power steering and brakes shut offas a result. The driveway had a rocky surface and she was going 10 mph so the vehicle slowed down to a stop. The contact's mother waited 5 minutes before restarting and vehicle and it operated fine from that point. This was the second time the vehicle hadthe same issue the dealer audubon Chrysler center 2945 us highway 41 n, henderson, ky 42420 (270) 826-1270 was contacted and confirmed they have recieved a number of complaints on the same issue . They stated that the ignition switch and tipm switch could be replaced at a cost of over $1,200 but sometimes that would still not fix the issue. The manufacturer was called and confirmed there were no recalls but the vehicle might still under the powertrain warranty. They referred the contact to call NHTSA. The failure mileage was 70,000. Tf.

Recently my van has started shutting off automatically for no reason while it should still be running. Sometimes it just shuts off and then restarts and other times it has shut off and I have had to restart it with the key. There is no specific thing that triggers the issue and it has happened while sitting still, after putting it in park, and while turning going down the road. I looked up any recalls for the vehicle but there were non. However, this seems to be a common problem for the Mini van.

Van will bog down and then just shut off. Will also take 5-6 times before it will restart. The electrical goes haywire randomly. Found out the tipm is bad and there was a recall on other vehicles doing the same exact thing during the same years.

The engine shuts down while I am driving. I have to put the gear shift in n and restart. Also, the car does not start every time.
The engine suddenly shuts off. The dealer replaced a computer chip, but the engine still shuts off. It first happened in may 2020. It shuts off about every 2-3 weeks. It happens when first started, when accerating, when slowing down, and/or when stopping. It's especially dangerous when traveling at highway speeds.

Ignition shuts off randomly when driving or in reverse while backing up. Has happened over 30 times in the last 2-3 yrs. I was crossing a busy road & it shut off. Driving up my drive way & it shuts off. Backing out of my driveway & it shuts off. The last time it happened was 5/5/2020.
While driving the vehicle at random speeds. My Dodge caravan will just shut down. I have noticed on a couple occasions all of the dash lights will come and then engine will shut down. Lose of steering and brakes. I have managed a few times shifting to neutral and quickly restarting. An the few times it would not start ive managed to get off the road with steering wheel locked and brake pedal that wont depress. Sit for a minute put in park an restart. This has happen over 18 times of owning the vehicle for a year.
Engine shuts off while driving. It has happened 3 times.
The vehicle shuts completely off while driving. No spitting or sputtering, no stalling, no error codes or lights. Just shuts off with no warning. Weather conditions, speed, miles drove matters.
Over the last 6 weeks, on occasion when attempting to start the vehicle- it will crank without turning over and running. This requires multiple attempts before the vehicle would run. It has become a more frequent event to include briefly running then shutting down. Wthin the last week, the battery has drained without casue- requireing charging. As of today, the failure to start issue persists requireing multiple attempts. This happens on a cold start as well as when the vehicle has been running/is warmed up. Ddiagnostics lead to a failure of the fuel pump relay in the tipm. This is a well documented issue for this engine/tipm however the caravan has not been included in the recall as the druango and Jeep vehicles have been. The failure of this tipm has been documented to include sudden engine shutdown while in operation representing a significant danger to the public. Based on reviews of other complaints, an ordinary reasonable prudent person would believe that this tipm failure is a iminent threat to safety. The manufacturer should be required to expand the recall and repair to all vehicles equipped with the suspect tipm. Currently, a non recalled vehicle would have the tipm module replced at a significant cost to the owner or, a non dealership installed "recall" repair (new relay) installed that would negate any further/future responsibility of the manufacturer. Authorized service centers should be required to provide the option of paying for the "recall" repair when servicing a vehicle not on the recall list. Knowing this tipm failures potential, I would suggest that, regardless of any class actin settlement- the manufacturer be required to mitigate this issue at the least possible expense to the vehicle owner.
On 12-23-2019 at approximately 11:49 pm; my engine shutdown while driving at 30-mph down a city street. Incident nearly caused a crash. .
While driving the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan it will just shut down. While trying to figure out the problem I found 2 recalls for electrical issues both having to do with the vehicle shutting down while driving. When I entered my VIN it showed one that needed the ignition and fobs replaced. We took it to our local dealer tri-star of indiana and they say the recall was completed in June of 2016. I can't find any paperwork on this and it still shows up. Even if it was done, it's obvious it needs done again because their replacement parts are defective just like the ones they replaced. I already informed them if anything happens to my family or me while driving this, they will be the first names on the law suit the Dodge for not fixing the issue correctly the first time. This happens in town, on country roads, sitting at stop lights. The last time it happened my daughter was taking her kids to the doctor on Tuesday 12/3/2019.
Vehicle electrical and engine shutdown suddenly while driving 30mph on the road. No power steering or brakes, had to pull over to the shoulder. Was able to restart the car and drive normally after a few minutes. Brought to dealer but no engine codes were discovered. Has recurred more than once in a 2yr period. Related to this electrical (tipm) problem, car often requires 3 or 4 attempts to start. Will sometimes start on its own several seconds after key stopped turning.
While driving my van just shuts off I have no steering it just stops. It is currently at a dealership in indiana pennsylvania called tri star. I saw there was a recall for this and they are stating I had it fixed in 2016. It is happening again. Should this not be your responsibility to fix. I have two small children with me. 18 months and 4 months I want peace of mind they will be safe.
While driving through a intersection turning right the engine shutoff without warning. Along with the engine shutoff, power steering was lost and everything on the dashboard including the speedometer, rpms, radio. With the loss of acceleration and power steering it made it very difficult to maneuver to safety. Once stopped I was able to place the vehicle in park I turned the key to off and restarted the vehicle and it started back up normally. Absolutely no engine lights or warning were showing before or after this incident. I suspect that the issue is the tipm but can't be exactly sure.
Takata recall. 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. We bought it in June 2018 . . Problems began in jily 2018. It began with tire sensor light coming on and staying on but no issues. . . . Then advanced to not starting at all. . Evaluation resulting in several towing bills even after 2 new fuel pumps put in. . Then a fuel pump relay. Ran for a while and continued to shut power off while driving on highways, back rds. No warning lights just shut off. More towing costs. Very dangerous situations due to no warning and while driving when vehicle just off. Now u understanding numerous Dodge Grand Caravans dealing w same issues and refusing recall. . . Putting lives at high risk especially w a special needs in vehicle, my little kids and kids scout friends. Its currently unable to safely drive due to its unexpected shut off while driving.
While driving on city street (between 20 and 30 mph) the vehicle engine shut off. The power steering and power brakes also stopped making the vehicle difficult to stop or maneuver to a safe stopping location. There was no warning of a failure and the only indication was the traction control/stability dash indicator. After the vehicle was stopped it was placed in park and restarted, then drove fine. There were still no indications of a failure (cel or ses light). No diagnostic codes were stored on the computer. Because this happens completely unexpected, if it were to occur while going around a curve or in an intersection there is a safety concern.

My wife was driving our van and turning into a busy intersection when suddenly the car shut down leaving her with no power brakes and no power steering and no way to accelerate to get out of harms way. This has happened to me as well in the same vehicle. When I try to start the vehicle sometimes the car does not start and I have to turn the key a few times before it will actually make a connection. I investigated online about this problem and it seems that this is not an uncommon problem with this vehicle. When I called Dodge the technician told me that it's some kind of relay inside the ignition switch that is faulty so he admitted it himself I am asking that you investigate this before somebody gets hurt or killed. This is my family's primary mode of transportation and my children are always in this car. It is my worst nightmare to lose my family. And I would hate to lose my family over an engineering flaw that Dodge does not want to acknowledge . I fear thatsomebody is going to get hurt or killed over this eventually. The technician at Dodge told me that it typically cost around $800 to fix the problem because I would need two new keys and a new ignition so it's not like they don't know about this. There needs to be a recall on this ignition switch. If you research forums on the 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan you will see that this is a huge safety problem and extremely common. Please hold Dodge accountable before someone gets hurt.
The van turns of while I'm driving, no warning, nothing lit up on the dash, just shuts off! after sitting awhile it will finally restart. However to be driving and have it shit off is dangerous!.
Van just reached 100k miles and has been maintained & serviced & all of a sudden it has started shutting off while driving, no warning, no lights, just shuts off while driving. This is extremely dangerous & appears to be either the ignition module or computer neither of which have recalls for this year despite the same problems with previous model years.
Severe electrical issue with engine shutdown while driving on highway, stalls at intersections after dash lights "go crazy," no-start, all dash lights on/off, wipers randomly going on, doors and windows inoperable, killing new batteries, brake light sporadically functional, and a/c in rear randomly changes settings. These incidents occur at random periods with no specific causation.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact that the tipm failed which caused the vehicle shut off while the contact was driving without warning. The failure also caused the doors to lock on their own. The contact also stated that the failed tipm drained the vehicle battery and every time they attempted to drive they would have to disconnect and connect the battery in order for the battery to function properly. The vehicle was taken to apple Ford shakopee 1624 weston CT, shakopee, mn 55379 stated that the tipm needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was also contacted and made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The failure mileage was 90,000. Am.
The van's engine shutdown while my wife was driving the van at night and barely had enough time to pull to the side of the road before losing control of steering. She had just made a right turn onto the highway. Towed the van to a local dealer and found the issue to be the diode on the alternator failing causing electrical feedback to the powertrain control module (pcm). So had to spend a lot of money to have the alternator and pcm replaced. I am aware other vehicle lines of 2011 have a recall for this specific issue and am unsure why the Dodge Grand Caravan is not on the list. There needs to be an investigation and have this vehicle added to the recall.
While driving my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan van in the city limits, when I hit the brake to slow down or to anticipate to stop, the engine shuts off while the car is still in motion. The radio, lights and air conditioner do not shut down *(they stay on). When this happens, I take out the key, reinstall it back to the ignition switch and crank it to turn the engine on and it does turn on. This is happening everyday, at least twice per day.
Vehicle shut down while giving gas at a speed of 30 mph or less loose steering and brakes and slip slide warning symbol appears. Reference numbers that apply are 14v373000, 11v139000 and rc-r03-15. After I shut down the car it I can restart te car immediately. When I turn the radio back on the radio comes right on without the safety warning that normally appears when I turn the radio on.
Engine shuts off without warning when driving and/or stopped at light.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. While the vehicle was idling, the engine misfired. As a result, the rpms decreased and the vehicle vibrated and shuddered. On some occasions, the vehicle shut off completely. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure continued. The contact stated that the check engine indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
In June had the tipm replaced as it was causing the horn to go off and stay on, the wipers to go off and stay on and other electical issues. These symptoms returned in the last month (I was traveling during the return of the issues) and this time, about two weeks ago, while doing 55mph down a secondary highway, the car's horn and wipers came on and the car completely shut off - the engine shut down. The dealer replaced the tipm again.
We have a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt with 133,000 miles and since the day we got it back in July all it has done while driving is shut down/shut itself off. Lights on dashboard will come on, flash and van will just shut down. Key refuses to come out at times, have no hazard lights when this happens, and it can take anywhere from 5-30 minutes for the van to even start again. This happens on the interstate and in the city, doesnt matter really where we are, even at stop lights/stop signs.
When the vehicle is in drive but is stationary, everything will turn off. The electrical system goes down and the engine shuts off. After a brief moment (approximately one to two seconds), the electrical system will come back up and all electronic components come back on, but the clock on the radio is reset to 12:00. At this point, we can put the vehicle in park and restart it. This has occurred several times in the past several weeks. The most recent occurrence was 2017. 07. 07 and it did it twice within fifteen minutes. We do not know for sure what is causing this to occur, but it seems to be connected to the main computer and/or the anti-theft system, as this is a complete system shutdown.
