I went into the Dodge place for my routine oil change on 2/3/26. While waiting, it was discovered by a technician that I had a very bad oil leak. This is very alarming to me. One reason is, there were no signs that I had an oil leak. A few examples: my oil sensor light did not come on, no oil spots recognized on concrete, or no smell of possible oil burning. The Dodge automotive technician determined the cause to be my engine oil cooler. Engine oil leaked all over everything under the housing (can provide a video). Another reason this alarms me is that this particular part is not covered under my warranty. This is expensive to have repaired. Lastly, the technician stated to us that there are over 30,000 or more vehicles from the Chrysler/Dodge corporation with this same part that people are having to have replaced, and in some cases, replace multiple times. In conclusion, this cheaply made part should be a recall in all of these vehicles. The engine oil cooler should be made of metal material.

I am writing to formally request that the national highway traffic safety administration review and consider an investigation into a potential safety-related defect affecting 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan vehicles. My vehicle recently experienced a failure of the engine oil filter housing, which cracked and leaked oil and required an expensive repair. According to the repair facility, pro auto service, this failure is not isolated. I was advised that the shop has repaired a significant number of identical failures over the past year, to the extent that replacement parts have at times been difficult to obtain. The repair facility also indicated that many similar failures have occurred in recent weeks, coinciding with extreme cold weather conditions. The oil filter housing is a critical engine component responsible for maintaining proper oil circulation and pressure. Failure of this component can lead to oil loss, reduced lubrication, engine damage, or potential engine shutdown if not immediately addressed. Because this defect directly impacts engine operation, it presents a powertrain-related safety concern. Based on the frequency of reported failures, the consistency across the same model year, and the apparent correlation with cold weather conditions, this issue appears to be the result of a design or material defect rather than normal wear and tear. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter for possible investigation and recall consideration to protect vehicle owners from unexpected engine failure and costly repairs. Thank you for your attention to this concern and for your continued commitment to vehicle safety.

The 3. 6l pentastar engine for this year has been shown to be highly problematic. We have had the #2 and now the #1 cylinder heads fail, causing misfires, poor engine performance and complete failure. We’ve also had multiple injectors fail, #2 (twice), 4 & 5. The engine failure is a safety issue and has been proven as such.

Unknown: engine slips, got mechanic to look at it and he showed me where a part of the camshaft is ground down to almost nothing. He says it doesn't work like it is supposed, he has worked on many Dodge vehicales that have this problem, and I need a new camshaft. Which entails taking timing chain off and an expensive repair.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the contact's husband smelled an abnormal burning odor coming from the front of the vehicle. Upon inspection, both the contact and her husband noticed that there was an oil leak. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the oil filter housing had melted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was 85,000.

My engine has begun the "pentastar tick", which is surprisingly well-known, but not recalled. This is a serious safety issue because it can cause engine failure, which would cause an accident. Dodge has known about this problem for years, but refuses to fix it. I cannot afford to replace the engine and my van is sitting at the dealership, as of today. Please make them fix this! why is there not a recall on these engines!?! thankfully, there was no accident and I had the vehicle towed to the dealership, only to be told they are aware of it and I'm looking at $3,000-5,000 to "fix" it. However, the replacement parts would be the same as the original parts, so it's just going to keep happening. They are willfully and knowingly endangering families by not fixing this!.
Check engine light codes match possible recall for vehicle now I'm having the same issues.
While driving, the vehicle will periodically shut down/lose all power. This appears to occur when a slight bump in the road occurs. The loss of power to the vehicle is obviously a significant safety issue. We have been able to restart it when switching to neutral and turning the key; however, this obviously isn't a safe solution while traveling down the highway with no power to the vehicle. This has occurred multiple times at varying speeds (30-70 mph) over the last few years - I am reporting it now as I was assuming/anticipating there would be a recall on this safety issue.

While driving the engine light came on within 10 minutes the car started jumping in place and then within 5 minutes completely would not go in any direction forward reverse or neutral and just revved the torque locked up the transmission quit completely did not even give me time to pull over and access the issue was 7 min from home when completely quit.
The flex plate comes loose and rattles really loud. Needs to get repaired so that it doesnt break loose and starter falls out. This is a well known issue with this type of vehicle and costs a couple thousand to get fixed. Dodge dealership said this happens a lot with their vans.
Today, I was driving my van to work, and I stopped at a stop sign, went to go, and the van made a horrible clunk noise and wouldn't drive. I shifted through the gears, and each one made the van shake hard. I purchased this van 2 weeks ago from a used car lot. Earlier today, the check engine light came on, which I planned on going check it when I got off work. I had a mobile diagnostic worker come check it out, and he told me it was my transmission. I contacted the lot where I bought it, and am waiting to get it towed back there. This was dangerous because it stopped driving at a stop sign, and I didn't know what to do. I had to flag traffic to go around and wait for people to come help me push it out of the way of traffic. I am a single mother with a three year old.
The vehicle randomly and dangerously stalls while driving at various speeds and locations. The vehicle will not restart until battery is disconnected and then reconnected. It then starts right up and runs fine until the next episode of stalling. This has been addressed by NHTSA campaign # 19v813 recall for bad fuel pump relay but my VIN # has not been included in this recall even though the vehicle is in the same year as the other vans covered under the recall. This is a very dangerous condition that keeps happening even after leaving the van with the Chrysler dealer for a week to diagnose and they say they don't have a definitive fix for it but offered to replace the entire tipm for $1700 without a guarantee that the problem will be permanently fixed! the faulty fuel pump relay is well known and has been addressed with an external fuel pump relay kit covered by this recall. Please help us get our vehicle covered under this recall as we are retirees on a fixed income and have already spent too much money (close to $1000) trying to fix this known problem. Already replaced the ignition module which was another known possible cause but the problem still remains.

The engine began stalling and reving while driving. It is at the shop with an estimate of 2500. 00 to 4000. 00 to repair due to faulty cylinder #2. Researching this, we are not the first to have issues. As stated by my repair place, it’s a ticking time bomb waiting for it to cause a serious major incident and possible injuries. Vehicle is less than 8 years old and less than 100,000 miles.
Recently while leaving home my van started to make a type of noise. I cant quite describe it as it wasn't very whistling or clicking it was just an abnormal sound that it had not been making and I could hear it more when turning my wheel to the left. It started to jump while I drove. Like it was fine then would just jolt forward. When putting it in park I noticed that it wasn't making noise in the neutral position. But then when I was going to drive again it did not want to go forward. And at the first few tries I was able to reverse it. It did not want to accelerate and when I tried it would make a revving noise like if I was trying to race. I reversed and parked and my husband put some transmission fluid thinking that was the problem. The noise stopped and I was able to drive it briefly without the issues but then as I got further if started again and I had to get back home. It completely stopped accelerating and my husband and son had to push it. And once it got some speed j was able to accelerate just a little enough to drive it home. At home it stalled on me again and I was stuck in the middle of the street trying to reverse. Thats when my husband and son got back to push. It was a very scary situation as I had all my little children with me. And not only that it was so hot and we got stuck in the heat with the vehicle stalling. Now we had a mechanic look at if and they say it's the transmission. So I of course googled transmission problems to find there have been other issues with transmission in the 2019 models but mine wasn't part of the recall according to the VIN #. Please look into this further as these vehicles should not be on the roads stalling out at random. Which had also happened to me previously but I did not think transmission at the time. And that time was even more terrifying I was getting onto the highway from the access road and it stalled right there.
When I’m driving, especially when I come to a stop or when I try to accelerate from a stop, the car kind of chokes or hesitates. It feels like it’s about to stall, but it doesn’t fully turn off. It keeps doing this off and on when I stop or try to go again. It's very scary and dangerous.

Head gasket and head failure at 86000.
I have the oil changed regularly and keep all records and receipts. I've had the coolant and transmission fluid flushed, the thermostat changed twice, the coolant temperature sensor changed, the oil cooler changed and I checkmy transmission fluid regularly. My van was over heating frequently and no one could figure out why. I changed the coolant our and the temp. Sensor. It doesn't overheat now, but the heater quit working the day it was changed out. It hard shifts from 40 mph and up. Transmission fluid is good. I reset the power module by unhooking the battery for an hour. Still hard shifts . Scanner doesn't bring up any codes. 98,800 miles on it. Back sliding doors won't lock and tire sensor and radio dont work. What can I do? I cant afford a new transmission. The van was bought 2020 and for $19,000. I'm broke.

Check engine light put out a code for catalytic converter failure and emissions status is red. The catalytic converter is responsible for converting harmful exhaust gases into less harmful ones, and a failing converter can lead to a check engine light.
My wife was stopped at a drive through window in drive when the engine stalled. It wouldn’t crank over and needed to be pushed out of the way and towed. The tipm failed and needed to be replaced. The repair was done at a Chrysler dealer and they took the faulty part after repair. Safety was at risk because if this had happened in the middle of the road it could have caused an accident. My wife was lucky it happened at the drive through. Vehicle not inspected by police or insurance. No warning lights or other symptoms, just engine stalled.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled, and the vehicle failed to shift into gear properly. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 225,419.
The vehicle has cut off twice since purchased two days ago while turning. No warning signs I almost hit a sign and another car. There's no way to control the car once the power stops.
Van is driven a few thousand miles per year since we purchased. Routine maintenance up kept and has just over 100k miles. Replaced coils, plugs as routine for maintenance but having a cylinder 2 misfire, then it became #6 and now is "multiple random misfire" codes. Vehicle shutters dangerously when driving and engine light comes on intermittently. Every person I know with this pentastar v6 has had identical problems!.
My car shuts down while idling at a stop light. Before that happens, the rpm drops down, the car shakes a bit, and then the engine dies. What could be the problem?.

While driving my van it will randomly shut off, it starts back up right away after I get to a safe location to do so but this is very dangerous. I've taken it to shops and they cannot replicate it and there are no codes on the reader to indicate any issues.
Engine light on. Only have 70k miles on vehicle. Giving cylinder misfire code. Apparently others also have this issue. Took vehicle to Dodge dealership who can’t figure it out. Replaced gasket, coil pack and spark plugs. They were still stumped and wanted another tech to do a diagnostic at a large amount of money. At another mechanic now who’s trying to figure it out. I have two young children, this vehicle could stop in the road? there should be a mandatory recall of the entire engine. Do they want lawsuits for injuries or worse on their hands? I wish I never bought this vehicle.

The oil filter housing for Jeep Dodge Chrysler 3. 6 is originally made with plastic. Now its made with metal. My van is leaking oil. I went to get an oil change and was told from the shop that I had a oil leak. Oil is all over the engine. They were telling me that they see this so often, and that it should be recalled. Jeep has the exact same issue and has a recall. I can actually smell it inside the car. This is the second time I was told this. The leak is getting worst. Times are super hard out here. I would love if someone could look into this.
