Originally coding a cylinder 2 misfire, I had spark plugs and coil packs replaced but the engine light continues to stay on. Have done multiple compression tests and it looks like the cylinder needs to be replaced and maybe the engine rebuilt. It wont pass inspection with the light on and the light is permanently on. Already paid almost 1,000 to get spark plugs and coil packs replaced and diagnostics.

Engine showing p0302 code for cylinder misfire which by a licensed mechanic has been traced back to an original manufacturers defect in the cylinder and rockers. In doing research into this issue, I found hundreds of other owners of this and similar model year Dodge Grand Caravans having the same issue with incredibly expensive fixes. The issue can cause the vehicle to abruptly lose engine power, a major safety issue. The mechanics are indicating that the repair is over $5,000 and that it is a well known issue with these vehicles. The problem began when the vehicle only had around 60,000 miles.

Transmission pump failure. Same issue as previously recalled models from 2013-2017. Transmission failed while driving. Vehicle will no longer shift. Vehicle is maintained properly and up to date on all other repairs/maintenance. Code pulled at mechanic is p1790. No response from Dodge. Any interaction is either ended by their representative disconnecting or rerouting me to a department that has no clue what to do.

The engine components have failed, there is compression issue from cylinders, rings, and valve issues. Same as 2017 recall, seems to be still affecting my 2018 model. Mileage is only 73,000.

The vehicle suddenly shuts down while driving creating a dangerous situation. The dealership diagnosed it as a faulty ignition switch and said it is common and that there was the same issue on previous generation of caravan that was recalled. I have it scheduled for replacement and will ask for the old part back.
This is the third time I am filing a complaint. My 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan completely dies and looses all power going over 50 miles per hour. No warning, no codes appear, nothing. Looses all power, power steering, brakes, etc. Have to get to side of road, wait 20 minutes, then car will start. This has happened now over 16 times. The latest time with my grandchild in the car, the vehicle behind me almost crashed into me. This continues to be a safety issue and it is unclear as to why Dodge is doing nothing about this despite multiple complaints by hundreds of drivers. I have spent over $3000 so far trying to fix this to no avail, new battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, tpm relay, new keys, new programming, still happens. Will never buy another Dodge/Chrysler again, and have told family and friends the same potential hazard of this brand.

Keep getting cylinder 2 missfire code I have changed everything it saids, I see this is a on going issue for years that people have reported yet its still not fixed and is costing us money because Dodge don't want to take responsibility for thier mess up.
Number 2 cylinder is misfiring for 3 months. Have changed spark plugs an wires with the coils twice an does not fix the problem. Have 93000 miles. Was told its a head issue with Dodge on this motor.
The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while at a red light, the vehicle stalled and shuddered. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to get a diagnosis however, the independent mechanic stated that the failure cause was unidentifiable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was towed to a different independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 835,000. .
First, the back hatch would just open itself even if you were going 30 miles an hour or under. Had it checked out couldn’t afford the diagnostics so I took out the fuse. Second, there is a ticking in my right back corner. It doesn’t happen when you’re going down the road, but it happens while you’re parked or just starting out. Mechanic friend of mine checked into it we would have to trace the electrical from front to back and again, I cannot afford that. So there’s 135,000 miles on my vehicle now and this happened about six months ago. I forgot there was a place to report it. I’m not very car savvy. Also, I had to replace my entire starting my starter, my alternator, a battery actually too and now I’m going to have to replace the switch for the ignition that’s all happened within one year or less. Just thought somebody should report these each time I fixed an ignition issue, the problem was fixed for at least a month or two and then the next one would happen. Very aggravating.
I had the check engine light on for an unknown amount of time, as the initially lookover of the vehicle with the dealership advised it was a gascap sensor. However, they did attempt to fix by changing the sparkplugs when it was inspected June 2024 which didn't correct the issue. Since then, it has been looked at by 2 mechanic shops due to the following problem. When I drive at 40+ mph, the car starts shaking violently. When ran with diagnostic/ testing the engine, it was found that cylinder 2 keeps misfiring/ has a pressure issue, even after replacing the spark plugs and the fuel injector. Even after replacing those components, the cylinder misfire , lowered compression, and the shaking while driving all still persisted. They suggested fixing the issue with replacing the entire engine and avoiding driving until then, as driving it could potentially cause the engine to stop working while driving/ cause an accident. The dealership advised the engine issue would fall under the powertrain. It is available for review, as I have avoided driving it since, due to worries that the car will either stop working while I drive it, or the engine could result in an accident.
V51 recall cause problems with power control module. Poor fuel economy trouble starting/ restarting engine not receiving power.

Driving down the road at aproximately 40 mph and van shuts down. I turned on the hazard lights, coasted to the side of the road, put the van in park, turned the key to the off position waited about 30 seconds then turned key to on and the van starts up and seems to run fine. This is the second time in two days this has happened. No warning, no check engine lights. Very dangerous when driving at any speed when suddenly your vehicle turns itself off. Will contact my mechanic today to see if he has info on this problem. While doing research I have found that this is a problem that has been reported for many years and has been investigated. Wondering why they have not issued a recall for this????.
The seals in the oil cooler/filter assembly are leaking and causing oil to run down the motor and along the exhaust system underneath potentially causing a serious fire risk. The leak could also cause the engine to seize and pose a risk while driving at highway speeds or in corners. When searching for recalls on the internet it says there isn’t enough vehicles with the problem to trigger a recall. It don’t take long searching to see this is a wide spread well know issue with most all the 3. 6 and 3. 2l engines. It was a terrible plastic design places in one of the hottest areas of the engine. This issue was so common Dodge eventually changed to design of the cooler to correct the safety issue and it was so prevalent on all these engines. The fix is fine but it has left all these other vehicles on the road with the unsafe design flaw. I really can’t understand why an issue as well known, common and serious has been allowed to remain without a recall, especially given they have an updated replacement part available to correct the issue. I can’t help but wonder if this issue was on an import it would have had a recall years ago but because it’s a us manufacturer is getting swept under the rug. Please do the right thing and look into the issue, especially as common as it is. I can’t even get an inspection sticker on the vehicle because is unsafe and doesn’t meet the standard for a maine inspection, so there is no way one can argue it isn’t a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph on the highway, the vehicle inadvertently shut off. The contact stated that the steering wheel became inoperable. The contact was able to pull over safely and restated the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure progressed over time and the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were flashing on and off. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
The transmission on this van and pretty much after replacing it the hydraulic lifters are going out. I started to hear a noise and when the guy did my brakes and rotors he left me know that this is a very common issues with the Dodge vans and I feel like Dodge is making these vehicles unsafe as it can cause the engine to just stop and you can be on the highway and as I have kids in the car sometimes. Hydraulic lifters in all years of the Dodge caravan causes major issues please have them fix this and they should have to do a recall on these and fix the lifters because they definitely are doing it on these vans. If people are driving and they don’t hear the noise it can be so unsafe.
There is a cyclinder 2 misfire which hundreds of people have been effected by. There is electrical issues causing the temperature to not read correctly, side door not working, and rear air vents do not work.
Without warning the car completely shuts off. This is very dangerous because it happened on the freeway (luckily the cars slowed down behind me). It is intermittent and two different mechanics have not been able to detect the problem. Was there a recall on this issue? what can be done to make this vehicle safer to operate. This has been going on for about 2 years.

I was driving my van which I have had nothing but trouble with this Dodge caravan, go to turn at the intersection and it just shuts off started right back up but starting to turn and it just shut off. Happened twice now, had the battery checked and every thing else seemed good just didn’t know why this happened but it almost got us hot the first time. There are a lot of Dodge vans that aren’t included in the s44 recall and our VIN numbers don’t pop up. I mean the air bags are killing people in these Dodges now, I’ve had nothing but a hard time with this vehicle. They are unsafe, if I wasn’t poor and could afford a good van and not bottom of the barrel I wouldn’t be dealing with this it seems. But the poor are expendable. I’d rather take my kids in my beat up Ford than in my new van. That’s crazy. It’s going to get someone killed if it hasn’t already happened.
Dealership still cannot pinpoint exactly what is wrong but the car does not start. One time it’ll start and the next it won’t. It’s actually left me stranded in the cold because that seems to be the only time it won’t start. It’s happened to many other Grand Caravan owners too. No mechanic I’ve taken it to can solve the problem I’ve spent so much money replacing parts on this car.
It is unknown at this time what is wrong with the vehicle. The problem started two weeks ago. Initially after driving sustained highway speeds, the van will hesitate to brake when driving through town. When approaching a stop it would stutter to a stop and then stutter to drive again when pressing the gas, the delay was about 2-3 seconds. In two weeks time with approximately 200 miles driven, it started stalling at stops. Once at a traffic light and also at a stop sign. These incidents happened in the same day and since then, it had not been driven due to it being a major safety concern. It has been taken to an auto shop that has run the full diagnostics on it and the computer system is not catching any issues, there are no lights are on the dash. After the engine stalls, it runs if it is turned off and back on again. The brakes, rotors, and tires were replaced when I started noticing that there was an issue with stopping, I figured the problem was that they needed replaced since I have owned the vehicle 2 years and it hadn’t been done since I purchased the van. March 17 was the date it stalled twice and it was the only time the engine stalled in the past two weeks.
The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was idling rough with low compression in cylinder #2, there was a misfire, and the cylinder head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000. The VIN was not available.
Was told today the oil filter cooler has a small leak. Appears to be a prolific issue on caravans that Dodge is ignoring. Presents a safety hazard if the leak gets too bad and an environmental hazard if they go unrepaired.
Code p0302 - undiagnosed as of 2/14/24 mileage - 51833miles 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan with braun mobility conversion for wheelchair June 2023, had transmission freeze up and replace by Dodge dealer. Later that day after picking up from dealer, "engine" light came back on. Called and left message with dealer asking if they neglected to re-set codes and or reset check engine light. Called twice and left messages, no return call. Van functioning fine. I had no problems for months until I needed it smog tested this month. Smog repair station said it won't pass smog and it's likely cylinder 2 misfire, which can be observed sporadically, although I have never had any issues driving at all. Engine light never flashes. The smog mechanic researched Dodge issues and said I may likely need to replace the engine, but that even the replaced engine is not guaranteed to not have the same problem, due to it appears to be a problem in the engine itself. There are countless reports online by Dodge caravan owners reporting same code, but almost all of them report driving and/or idling issues. There seems to be enough consensus that there is something inherently wrong with certain year Dodge engines but there is still no recall or dealer support. I don't know who to believe. I need to get it to pass smog but don't want to replace the engine to do it if it has been driving fine.
The van has shut off without warning while driving.
Suden oil filter housing leak which lead to oil light eliminating within 8000 miles. Oil pools in engine crevice, hiding leak. Repair shop stated it’s a known Dodge issue seen monthly.
Travelling at the speed of 55 miles per hour the vehicle seemed to completely shut off on its own, thus causing immediate loss of power steering and power brakes. I was able to very carefully bring the vehicle to a complete stop after a half a mile or so. Fortunately, I was travelling on a long straight county road without any surrounding traffic. Once I turned the ignition totally off and back on again at the side of the road, everything seems to operate as normal. No check engine light, no other warnings came on thereafter. After doing some research online I found customer complaints experiencing the very same issues with certain Dodge Grand Caravan vehicles, however Dodge doesn’t seem to have any sort of recall for this extremely hazardous issue. It seems like it may be a faulty ignition switch problem!.
The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 mph, while the brake pedal was depressed the vehicle violently shuddered and stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the torque converter and spark plugs needed to be replaced, and the vehicle needed a software update. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
