1 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 09/22/2011

After filling up the fuel tank, the car dies while driving a few minutes later. Dealership said the fuel tank needed to be replaced and charged me $766. 55. The called it a non serviceable check valve in the fuel tank which allows liquid fuel into evaporate line after reaching a certain level. Once the vehicle is started the pcm purges the evaporate system to burn the vapors and exposure the catalyst warm up system. At this time the liquid fuel in the evaporate line is sucked into the engine intake manifold and causes the engine to stall. This is a serious safety issue because the car could be on the road. When it stalls it could easily cause an accident. Chrysler should fix this before people are injured.

2 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 08/11/2011

Ruptured fuel line spraying gasoline onto muffler. The fuel lines are plastic and are attached to the fuel filter and are replaced together as a unit. The plastic line had a quarter inch rupture. This filter had less than 30k miles and was about a year old. Why does Chrysler use plastic fuel line? I do not know the cause - a weak inferior plastic or a sharp stone perhaps. Either way, it does not matter. I have never seen a hard plastic used for fuel delivery. The old style rubber fuel hoses would be much better and safer. I am thinking this plastic is used because of the flex fuel option but I am not a mechanic. I am glad my vehicle did not catch fire. I was lucky. After replacing the filter with a new one from napa one of the fuel lines would not stop leaking. I had to return it for another non leaking filter. Because of this I am also concerned about the quality of replacement parts as well.

3 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 09/13/2009

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan se. Today, 13 Sep 09, while I was driving home from work on my normal route, I suddenly lost power and had to pull over. There was smoke coming out of the back of the van and underneath, and a very strong smell of gasoline. I put my flashers on and came to a stop off the side of the road. I looked in the side view mirror and there was smoke and flames coming from underneath the van. I immediately got out and called 911. A man who pulled over to help me tried to put out the flames, but he said there was a flaming puddle under the van and a line of fire coming down from the undercarriage and he said it was a broken fuel line. The van is a total and complete loss and is now a burned out shell. Had I not been able to get out and away from the vehicle in time, I could have been killed. This is not the first time I have seen a Dodge vehicle catch fire and burn to the ground from a fuel line failure.

4 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 06/22/2009

2004 Dodge Grand Caravan fuel tank vapor float vent failure. Vehicle has 59,000 miles. After fueling vehicle it will stall intermittently at stop signs and on open highway without warning, because fuel is getting into the engine and flooding engine out via the tank venting vapor system. When fueling, a float in the orvr (onboard refueling vapor recovery) valve is designed to rises and seals the tank vent causing pressure build, backing fuel up into the fill neck and shutting it off. The orvr is apparently not sealing completely or at all, allowing liquid fuel to pass into the vent line to the vapor canister and then engine. The valve is plastic welded to the tank, which requires the tank to be replaced. Major safety issue because the power steering system stops when engine stops and vehicle is not able to be steered without the power steering aid. . Read more...

5 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 06/30/2007

The fuel line is not secured to the undercarriage. It came out of its open u shaped hanger and fell against the driveline. The drive line then wore a hole in the gas line shutting down the vehicle and spewing fuel all over. Stranding everyone. Luckily it did not start a fire from the muffler. It has been repaired and tied to the hanger so that it will not come out again.

7 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 12/26/2006

As I was driving the vehicle I smelled a strong odor but everything around the vehicle seemed to work normally (no smoke or overheating present). Less than 5 minutes after the engine caught fire. The entire engine is burned, the vehicle is a total loss. Experts that looked at the engine after the fire was put off suggest a failure in the gas hose causing the engine to catch fire.

16 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 12/19/1998

I am writing in response to an article in the st. Paul pioneer press page 9a dated 4/20/99. It is about the NHTSA investigation of daimlerchysler gm and gas tanks leaking. In December of 1998 I experienced a similar situation. As I was driving the gas line apparently became disconnected from the tank and all the gas drained out of my van. This happened as I was driving down a highway. By the time I got to my destination a full tank of gas had drained out of my car. This was the third time we reported fuel leakage to the dealer. I am very interested in knowing if this is a problem with the Dodge minivans.
