The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that when driving approximately 5-30 mph, the vehicle would stall and the steering wheel would seize without warning. The contact would restart the vehicle without any issues. The failure recurred on an intermittent basis. The vehicle was later taken to a dealer for diagnosis. After test driving the vehicle, the contact was advised that the fuel injection system could have caused the failure. The vehicle was repaired by cleaning the fuel injectors. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 36,500. The current mileage was approximately 40,000. Updated 12/14/12 the consumer stated when the engine died, the steering and brakes would die as well. The contact owns a 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact smelled a strong odor of fumes. The vehicle was driven to the side of the roadway. The contact inspected the vehicle and observed a fuel leakage coming from the fuel rail assembly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a temporary repair was performed on the fuel rail. There was a prior recall repair performed on the vehicle approximately five years ago under the NHTSA campaign id number 00v268000 (fuel system, gasoline: fuel injection system). The contact stated the remedy did not correct the problem and the repair part was defective. Also, the high fuel pressure line separated from the engine due to massive corrosion and the fuel pump line exhibited a crack. Consumer noticed on website that there was recall NHTSA campaign 00v268000, consumer contacted the dealer service who referred her to the manufacturer. Diamler Chrysler told consumer that this vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vehicle identification number. Consumer could smell gasoline when she turned the ignition on. The service dealer mechanic checked out the vehicle, and told her that there was a leak in the fuel injection system, the problem was not repaired. The consumer received a recall letter concerning the air bag clock spring failure. The letter stated that if the airbag light stayed on the vehicle should be taken to the dealer for repairs. Consumer did not have this problem and she did not take vehicle to the dealer for repairs. There were no other known problems with the vehicle at this time.

My 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Mini van has a 3. 3l engine. Early in March 2005, I had a difficult time starting the vehicle and the smell of fuel was prominent. Upon a search of fulel injection problems on the internet, I found NHTSA recall notice 00v268000. This notice describes the following problem for minivans with the 3. 3l and 3. 8l enginges: these vehicles have fuel rails with nitrole rubber o-ring seals that can degrade over time. Fuel leakage from the underhood fuel injection fuel rail could result, increasing the likelihood of a vehicle fire. I suspect that, although my vehicle is not in the recall, my problem is the same as the problem that affected the recalled vehicles.

While fueling gasoline spilled out from the bottom portion of the fuel tank. An independent mechanic determined that the o-ring snapped off, causing the gasoline to leak.

Vehicle was leaking fuel in driveway. Consumer received recall 0v26800 for fuel leak. Took vehicle to dealer ,and they replaced seal. , but recall letter stated if fuel was leaking fuel rail assembly would be replaced. Please provide any further information.

Consumer received recall (00v268000) notice for fuel rail replacement. Recall notice stated that replacement would take up to 1 and 1/2 hours, however, dealership took up to 6 hours to repair. Also consumer is requesting paper work for state inspection that was performed on vehicle.

Consumer received recall notice 00v268 to have fuel rail crossover tube o-rings inspected. However, when arrived for appointment, consumer is experiencing problems with dealership who claims that parts are on back order.

The consumer received a recall notice (00v268000) but parts were not available and the dealer had no idea when the parts would be available.

I discovered a leak on the front fuel rail on my 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan. Was informed prior to purchase in November 2001 that all recall issues had been resolved on this vehicle. The repair had never been done to the van, and I discovered the leak as the van idled in my driveway on 2-2-2002.

This component has a recall at NHTSA site but Chrysler has not recalled, it will cost 443. 00 to fix, I do not have the money this close to christmas. When is Chrysler required to recall.

Contacted local dealer and they did not want to fix problem under recall even though aware recall notice coming out in January. Due to extreme hazardous conditions with planned trip of boy scouts immediate repairs necessary by local mechanic.

Had dealer complete recall # 99v216000 in early 2000, upon driving home and filling the fuel tank noticed large amount of fuel leaking under vehicle. Dealer towed vehilce back to dealership (their expense), and replaced "cracked" attaching nut from recall work. Drove home (70 miles) and discovered small quantity of fuel still leaking from tank fittings. Returned vehicle to dealer (my expense). Shop advised they tightened loose attaching nut from previous recall. Still noticed odor of fuel consistantly but could not see any leaks as previous. Due to concerns about fire safety (I'm the fire chief in homer) I took vehicle to local garage (my expense). They found this same attaching nut and fuel pump module assemble leaking and referred me back to the dealership. Returned vehicle to dealership on November 27, 2001 and picked it up on December 5 after they "replaced" sealing o-ring and attaching nut from previous recall (almost $100. 00 of my expense). Filled fuel tank on Dec. 6 and discovered large quantity of fuel leaking from same area under vehicle. Reported problem to dealship and they advised to return vehicle to them for further repair, with them recommending and ordering replacement fuel tank. I suspect a combination of poor quality work and possible design flaws with the tank and fuel pump module assembly, nut and o-ring.

O-ring connection between fuel rail leaks gasoline onto valve cover and then exhaust manifold. Leaks most before engine warms up. Strong gas smell outside car warned of problem.

Consumer received recall 00v268, however vehicle had failures prior to receiving the notification, consumer states vehicle started losing power and would not go over 20 mph, dealer informed consumer that not only did the fuel rail assembly need replacing, but the engine needed to be replaced as well.

After inspection of vehicle, consumer was informed that the fuel injection system needed to be replaced, fuel was leaking at the rubber o-rings and the fuel injection rail, as cited in recall 00v2688, consumer is upset that Chrysler says there is not a recall, but yet NHTSA states that there is.
