1 Tire Blowout problem of the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/03/2012

1- prior to failure was just driving @ 65mph on interstate 89. Clear/clean roads. Clear sunny day. This tire was found to have lost some air 2 weeks after install but had maintained regular pressure since then. Prior to travel on date of failure, all tires were inspected and psi was checked. 2- failure was a rear tire blow out. This tire was one of a full set recently installed approximately 3 months and 445 miles earlier. Blowout was not the result of running over any road hazard, bump or object. Although I understand the nature of tires this incident disturbs me and the safety of the tire is suspect. Since the tire was destroyed, evidence of sidewall failure was absent, but the treads were not punctured or cut and were free of any foreign objects. The blowout inflicted minor damage to the plastic wheel well lining by causing a crack and a hole measuring approx 1' x 2". 3- the tire was replaced with a new one of the same model. Cooper tires refused to stand behind their product, pointing out that the sidewalls were destroyed therefore so was any evidence. After some research I learned that cooper has had some history of very similar failures in the past and that may explain the unwillingness to acknowledge this as premature failure or to offer any kind of financial adjustment or customer satisfaction. Besides the lack of confidence in the tire and the lack of concern from the manufacturer, I worry that there is a safety issue here. I am thankful that there was no injury in this incident. I am hoping that this complaint and my additional efforts will raise awareness of this potential danger and prompt consumers to carefully monitor any cooper cs4 tires. I urge any consumer who may have experienced an unusual or premature failure of any cooper cs4 tire to file a complaint to assist in discovering any trends and perhaps avoid a serious accident. The tire involved in this failure was disposed of.

6 Tire Blowout problem of the 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/14/2005

Driving on a mountain highway at about 50 mph. Temperature outside was around 10 degrees fahrenheit. Rear driver side tire blew out (360 degree rip in sidewall). There was about 25,000 miles on the tire and the tread was in good condition. I measured the remaining tire pressures at about 36 psi. Fortunately, the road at that point was straight and there was no snow on the road. We were able to safely pull over. The only correction that has been done, is the bridgestone tires were all replaced with goodyear tires (even though all the treads were still in good condition). Note: the entry form didn't allow me to specify exactly what size my tires were. They were 215/65r16!.

7 Tire Blowout problem of the 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 06/03/2003

Tire blow out occurred while traveling at 75 mph.

8 Tire Blowout problem of the 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 08/19/2001

I was traveling on the highway at 55 mph with my wife and 3 kids in my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. Suddenly the passenger side rear tire blew out and we heard a loud rumbling noise. I was able to cross over 2 lanes to get to an exit without losing control or hitting any other vehicles, my wife and kids were very shook up. After inspecting the blown tire I found 3 seperate slits in the side of the tire were it appeared the sidewall just blew out. I could not find any trace of a nail or any other object in the treads or the sidewall. I brought the tire to national tire and battery and the technician told me that the rim was slightly bent and that this caused the blow out. I am expecting to pay about $135 for the repair, but I have talked with several people who know tires fairly well and they said a slightly bent rim should not have caused this problem. I am more concerned that the other 3 tires may blow at any time and that my family could be at risk. I am asking the technician to check all the tires for any defects after experiencing this, hopefully if there is an issue they will not hide it from me so they can make a profit. I feel like I was very lucky there were no injuries in this case, but I worry about the next time. (tiresize: p215/65r15).

9 Tire Blowout problem of the 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/06/2000

This is the second vehicle that has had a blow out with the bridgestone turanza p215/65 r15 95t. I called a local bridgestone-firestone dealer and all they said was that it wasn't on the list. The first vehicle was a 1997 Dodge intrepid VIN 2b3hd46t8vh508561 and it had the passenger front tire blow. It did $1940. Worth of damage. All I'm asking is since it isn't on the "list" maybe it should be. The top of the tire seperated completely and damaged the front quarter panel along with the bumper, etc. Luckily there were no injuries or fatalities. I have since gone with a different tire and not bridgestone-firestone. (dot number: dnc508 ? tiresize: p215/65 r1).
