My transmission failed. My odometer reading is 92901. Dealership said not manufactured coverage. No message on dash. Happened while driving with children. Mechanic said needed to be replaced. This is a expensive repair. I believe manufacture should have told drivers about problems with transmission.
May 30, 2024 to whom it may concern: this is to report a very serious matter on the 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan. The vehicle vehicle has an issue with the transmission. It shifts very rough. To make it worse, when driving on bad traffic, the minivan gets stuck on one gear after several stops and goes, the transmission seems to overheating and gets stuck on one gear.

At various speeds from 35mph to 70mph, van will accelerate without manual input to the accelerator pedal. To stop the acceleration, the pedal must be "smashed" several times before the throttle responds. It is as if the cruise control acceleration spontaniously activates even though cruise control is not on or being used. Extremely dangerous!!!.

While driving the van, the van started making a whining noise. Then it would hesitated to shift gears. Upon accelerating in traffic, the engine would rev up, then the transmission would grab gear sharply. At every stop light the van does not shift forward. It sits there and the engine revs up, but does not shift gears. The van has to be turned off then restarted in order to drive out of first gear. Warning light came on eventually. After scanning at a local auto parts store, the code was p083b. P083b code: transmission fluid pressure sensor / switch “g” circuit range / performance. My family's safety and the safety of others put at risk because we were in traffic at a stop light where we were not able to accelerate and leave the intersection and were in danger of getting rear ended by traffic coming at us once the light was green.

The van slid backwards then accelerated at a higher speed going from a stop to slowly with a light tap on the gas pedal. The speed does not go higher than 15mph with the rmp too high when this occurs. It jerks back when trying to drive it forward. Has not left the dealership parking lot. Drove out 3mile out with this occuring. 3 attempts to fix. Still not driving well and can't leave the dealership lot.

Superior protection plan information for 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan service echelon automotive <service@echelon-auto. Com> wed, Nov 2, 2022 at 8:34 am roenika armstrong <roenikapa@gmail. Com> laura erbaugh <laura@daytonrotary. Com>, robert. Erbaugh@hotmail. Com roenika, here are some photos of the rear driver side brake system where it is locking up on you. I want to express my disappointment in whoever sold you this vehicle and not only sold it to you in this condition but if I heard you correctly, they said it was inspected? if it was inspected and this condition got through I would not be trusting the repair facility that “inspected” this vehicle for the “seller” of this car. Can you ask for the inspection report findings? MA’am, we cannot even diagnose further issues until the brakes on this vehicle are brought up to a safe standard so it can be test driven properly. I reviewed your vehicle service contract through superior protection plan and I found the mileage logged on the form dated 10/06/2022 (Thursday) as 87,158 miles when sold to you. Your current reading on your mileage on vehicle is 87,934 miles. That is about a 776 miles added to this vehicle from that purchase day to the date we received your vehicle during the week of October 24 th through the 28 th and it was left on our lot. This being said, I find it very difficult to believe you actually drove 776 miles from the 10/06/2022 purchase to this point with the vehicle in this very unsafe condition. If you did drive that much in this vehicle like it is you are much braver than I. As the pictures show this issue didn’t happen while this vehicle was in your possession, this was years of sitting and rusting on these parts and it was sold to you in this condition. Worries me very much. Your vehicle has been in a local repair facility several times already and another facility further north from here and again this issue was not spotted. So, I’m not sure what you want to do here on this issue. I’ll help as.

The ignition is not responding as it should. I have to turn it more and more often when I should only turn it once. My grave concern is that of my wife and grandkids. When she is driving them to and fro, the car will hesitate to start and the real problem will be when it turns off. If they are all in the car and on the highway it could be a disaster. I had new key pods made and the vendor told me that Jeep uses the same ignition and they have a recall. Please help.
The accelerator pedal sticks in full throttle and forces the car to speed forward. Brakes barely overcome the acceleration and the engine will accelerate from a complete stop. Super dangerous and there are a number of threads on vehicle forums that describe the situation.

I drove over a pot whole that hit the transmission. The transmission was replaced but 3 different times each one contuines to fail. Before the transmission incident. My car would lose power while driving. There was knocking noise from the engine. The transmission shifted slow before as well. But after the transmission being changed out there's been leakes power lost again and more knocking. The car been through insurance already.
Cylinder misfire #2 is a permanent code. The first time I got it fixed the car just stopped with no warning I couldn't get it to start unless the driver door was open. The shop had it for am entire month and had a new head rebuilt 2 weeks later the light was back on. It would go off and on for the next year, we changed filters, plug, gasket. After I got it inspected last year when the light turned off for a day that was the last time it was off. I haven't been able to get it inspected yet it's over due. 2019 was 5 years ago I've never had these problems with any other vehicles that's 10+ older. They need to do something they know what's going on it happened it 2012 and they discontinued the vans in 2020. They need to make it right. The engine is not safe it randomly loosed acceleration or occasionally gains it. I'm afraid of crashing into someone or being stranded somewhere or it dying in the middle of the road. I need this vehicle I'm still paying for it and don't really have other options to for other transportation while this one gets into a shop.

I was driving on the road at about 30 mph going straight (with my wife/kids) and the car just turned off completely. There was no electrical, no propulsion, power steering went out. The electrical blinked on and off a couple times like it was trying to come back on but I had to pull over (luckily we were on a rural road) and turn the car off and back on.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the contact went to apply the accelerator pedal which traveled to the floor without warning. The rpms revved up however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact veered to the shoulder of the road and contacted her husband. Her husband turned off and restarted the vehicle however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to nyle maxwell Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (14150 u. S. 79, taylor, TX 76574 (512) 218-5300) to be diagnosed, which was still pending. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer twice however, there was no solution to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
While pulling into a parking space with my foot slightly on the brake pedal, the engine surged with an audible revving, and the vehicle accelerated resulting in a collision. Idling or near idling in cold weather seems to be a frequent issue, but this is the only time it has not been overridden by applying the brake.

I was informed this vehicle has been recalled for a transmission (recall reference s44) on 06/24/2016 and it has required a transmission replacement, costing $4k in July 19, 2019. On June 20, 2020, while driving on a highway, the vehicle suddenly made a loud revving sound, rpm increased nearly to max, acceleration became inoperable, and caused active traffic delays - similar to what had occurred a year before when the transmission was replaced.
The hazardous roads symbol will light up on dash and then it will not allow me to use cruise control or shift the car out of park. I have to use the release button accessible from the hole in the dash to shift the car out of park when that hazardous road condition light is on. The hazardous road light will come on out of no where on a perfectly fine day and then mysteriously go off.
Vehicle accelerated rapidly, from around 20 mph to excess of 70mph. When brakes were applied no effect was noticed. Pumped brakes and became to stiff to push down, speed continued to climb. Rpms at max. Tried to put in neutral but panicked and put in reverse. Causing a slamming halt and loud noise. Engine became so loud I thought it might explode. Tried to put in neutral and symptoms continued. Shut off engine, restarted, symptoms continued. Less than 1000 ft from home a s was hoping to to get in driveway, put and drive and it peeled out, engine still revving, brakes still stiff. Shut off and wait several minutes. Restart and symptoms gone. Happened to wife about one week later on ramp merging to interstate. Having been forewarned, she was able to slip into neutral, kept foot on brake, no pumping and coast to stop. After leaving off for several minutes was able to restart and make it home without issue. Took it to nearby mechanic, which looked at the throttle body, but they did believe it to have resolved issue, did not charge me and recommended to go to dealer. Did not drive most of the year due to covid19. Eventually took to dealership for recall and to specifically diagnose acc. Issue so we could meet some family out of state. They fixed a few non related issues and recall. Did not fix acc. Issue, or even put on receipt that they looked at it. When asked to print me new receipt so I could have proof that it was at least brought in for that issue, clerk told me it would mess up receipt in their filing so instead wrote it in with initials. Called Dodge customer support because tr. Fluid leaking after dealer worked on it. He told me that it was impossible to leak since it was a closed system and asked if he could help me with anything else. I mentioned the acceleration, he cut me off and started to talk about tr. Fluid again and transfer call to a local shop. Asked again if there was anything else. I said the acceleration and then he abruptly transferred call.

(automatic) highway, local roads, uphill or straightaway. Car has difficulty accelerating past start up speed. When starting from a red light into 2nd gear the car will quickly slow then go from 1st gear to 3rd. Sputtering, hesitation. After I've already reached speed limit. This has caused many issues with close rear ending issues. People rear ending me or my rear ending them because of the quick/hard shifting. Car has been seen 2x since Feb. 2020 going on 3x. Same complaints. Exhaust has thick white smoke, smells slightly of gas. Engine check light diagnostic: 2nd cylinder misfire. 1st service fix focused on thermostat and repaired it. 2nd service diagnostic showed cylinder 2misfire again. Repairs focused on changing spark plugs and fuel injection decarbonizer. Last seen 8/2020 today is Nov 1st. I have another check engine light with same issues. 2nd cylinder misfire. I feel as many unsafe issues this car has I'm afraid to drive it. So it is sitting in my drive way. I've read it could be the transmission or it could be a coil. I've heard the repairs could cost upward of $2500 and that this is a common issue with this type of engine.
I changed my battery in my van and now the ac doesn't work and it seems like I smell coolant burning and when I'm driving between 40 to 50 it's very sluggish. And I had to have an auto shop check my transmission fluid cuz it felt like my transmission was slipping. And when they checked it they said I was really low on transmission fluid but they don't know where the transmission fluid going.
I had an accident yesterday when trying to park the car accelerated to the point that I hit a garage door damaging the car inside, all while my foot was on the brake pedal pressing very hard. When I put the car in reverse while my foot was on the brake the car shoot back at tremendous speed, it would not stoped regardless of my foot pressing on the brake as far as the brake goes. I hit a car parked on the street with such force that pushed it on top of the sidewalk causing extensive damage. I,was,,traveling up 38th street in union city and in the process of parking a my friend's driveway, turning from the street while applying the brakes lightly. I believe the problem is on the accelerator, it acceleratedm on its own when I attempted to stop. The car is right now at a shop, they will run a diagnostic and send an estimate of the body damage. I have contacted my insurance company for them to have the car mechanical functions. Probably a broken axel on the rear wheels.
Engine light has been on for quite some time. Dealers unable to locate problem. Thought it was camshaft sensor, replaced and same issues. Check engine light is not always on, seems to come on after extended driving. On highway, with engine light on traction light will come on and the I will not be able to accelerate past about 60 mph even when pressing gas to floor. On highway this is very scary and dangerous. I see similar complaints and I am frustrated that no one can figure out the problem with my vehicle. Been dealing with this for almost two years.
The tmpi on a 20008 Dodge Grand Caravan needs to be recalled. Used car lots are disconnecting the horn and selling the 20008 Grand Caravan for up to 10,000 dollars to customers who are unaware that any time the caravan will become disabled while driving on any street or highway because the tmpi is faulty and caravan wipers will spray continuously wiper fluid on windshield. ( the horn will blow continuously if not tampered with and disabled. As in this situation with the 20008 Dodge Grand Caravan. Resource . Customer reviews and complaints filed against Dodge Chrysler corporations) caravan will not excel over 30 miles an hour. When caravan is finally parked the engine will not turn off. Caravan will not go into drive or reverse. Engine continuously idles while on the back of the wrecker/flatbed with the keys removed and then finally shuts its self off. Another issue. . . . The used car lot owner will then repossess said vehicle and sell it to another unsuspecting customer who will buy the caravan that needs to be recalled because the cost of said vehicle repair part (tmpi) is $1,080. 00 and $115. 00 labor cost to fix the repair an hour. Because buyer cannot afford the repair costs and the caravan payments and full coverage insurance . . Which does not pay to replace the altered or defective tmpi. Even though there have been recalls on the same identical tmpi part on two other Chrysler/Dodge vehicles. Note. . . Battery has to be disconnected while parked.

The vehicle was drive-able but would not go above 40mph when motion in on the highway or street. The vehicle hesitate and shift gears when trying to go above 40mph. I took the vehicle to certified Dodge dealer who said it was my transmission and it needs to be replaced. The vehicle is 2016 Dodge caravan.
My car kept stalling and cutting off. It would cut off at times while driving on busy city streets, just before totally shutting down. Thought it was the battery and had that replaced. Nothing else was reading as an issue that would cause this problem. I knew it was larger problem when I was unable to jump start my vehicle or feed it gas using the pedal. Car no longer starts. Apparently I no longer have power to my fuel pump, and the relay is integrated into the fuse box. Upon doing some research this is a common issue that causes the vehicle to randomly shut off. Dealerships want $1200 to fix.
Van has died twice while driving it, everything shuts down. It acts like it wants to crank but it won't have to hard reset it to get it to crank.
The driving side sliding door has become stuck in the locked position. It is unable to be opened manually or with the remote or buttons. I was able to open the door with the remote to put my child in the car. When we arrived at our destination I was unable to open the door. This is a serious safety concern as if we were in an accident or an emergency situation I would not be able to get my infant out of the car quickly and safely.
I bought my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan in February of 2018 with 98000 miles on it. Here I am 1 year and 5 months later having to replace the transmission at 108000 miles. I was driving and without warning on a city street my rpms were going up to 6000 but my van wasn't accelerating. I almost got rear ended and luckily none of my children were with me, especially my 7 week old baby!! the transmission repair shop that I had it towed to said it wasn't due to the pump that was recalled, that apparently did not apply to my VIN, but the inside of my transmission was breaking apart internally. When they took the pan off the transmission there were pieces of metal laying in it. And after all this my check engine light never came on.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. The vehicle starts to slow down while it was goin up a hill. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road and placed the shifter into park and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted but a burning odor was coming from around the vehicle. The contact powered off the engine. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not take to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was provided with a case number 58391588. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000. Aw.
The transmission stopped shifting into gear (reverse and drive). The van stopped in the middle of the highway, directly in traffic. The vehicle was in drive when t stopped completely. The vehicle was screaming loudly and would not shift into gear at all. My life was in immediate danger! the electrical is turning on and off without assistance including while driving. This has happened several times prior. The Dodge dealer was notified in person of my issues and concerns. Nothing was done to ensure the safety of the vehicle at any time. The vehicle has been out of service for 30 days.
